I think the reason why parloristas are looked down in the Philippines is because of how they were represented in old films. They were shown as overly flamboyant and be the punchline of jokes. They also have a reputation for paying teenage guys for sex. But as they said in this episode, they were the first representation of gays in mainstream, even though they weren’t portrayed well.
So sad for Marlyn to go. she make history for the first afab who join drag den or drag here in the Philippines her looks were great and her make up skill were spectacular and for my opinion ithink she should have won that lip sync.
I’m so sad for Marlyn but SHE’S the first AFAB Drag Queen on DRAG DEN and the make-up & looks are SICKENING!!! It was just the lack of personality. I would like to applaud DRAG DEN for always showcasing the overlooked areas and issues in the community and IT IS TRUE THAT HERE IN THE PH THAT PARLORISTAS ARE OFTEN JUDGED POORLY BUT TBH THEY ARE ONE OF THE PILLARS OF THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY AND IT WAS ANOTHER INDEED GREAT EP ❤❤
When I was younger, like 12, I came out to my mother, and she took me to a parlor and told me that if I didn’t stop being gay, I’d end up being a parlorista instead of being a doctor like a good straight son. Like there was something wrong with cutting hair. I’m neither a doctor nor a parlorista, and I’m still unlearning things that make me value myself less because of my sexuality. This is why shows like this are important.
I am genuinely sad to see Marlyn go, I never thought that I will tear so hard this episode . In my opininion, Mrs. Tan should've gave the immunity to Marlyn since she did a decent job, but congrats to her anyways
Versusan is one of the best Gayms in the Den right now, versusan is like snatch game or that library thing from rupaul where you mock a queen and make it look funny.
12:37 Unfortunately that's how it is here in the Philippines. Especially if you're a parlorista in the ourskirts, they think you're cheap and bottom-level. It's very sad because you will always see this community thriving and smiling and it's like a whole vibe but to outsiders they think it's tacky and cheap.
If Marlyn and Lava were in season 1, they could have improved, taken notes, and proven themselves just like what Naia and the other queens did who started at the bottom. These queens deserved no eliminations, and we deserve to get to know them better and watch them shine.
As sad as it seems, it is true that parlor gays were indeed looked down here in my country. I believe the media also had something to do with this. Back in the 70s and early 2000s, we'll always see effeminate gays working in parlors, some are even portrayed by straight actors. They are shown as being either cranky, flambouyant and sometimes predatory at some point which gives such a negative impact to them. Most millenials would remember that if a young boy was seen effeminate in a early age, plays dolls and dress up and act in a certain manner, older folks would say he would end up working in a parlor, in a derogatory manner. Another thing that made it worse is the unending toxic masculinity in the LGBT community here in my country. Once the metrosexual, bisexual terms came up, they made the effeminate gays feel below them as they seem "manly and decent" which they thought the society prefers. I appreciate this episode as it did give honor to our elder that paved the way for us here in the country. This is a touchy topic for me and thank you Drag Den for doing this.
Please give this video a 👍👍👍👍👍👍

❤❤❤
Fun Fact: Ms. Rufa Mae Quinto, the guest judge for this episode, is the one whom Eva Le Queen impersonated during the Snatch Game of DRPh1.
Ms russia fox being consistent along with mrs tan and deja they might be the three queen who were going in the finals in my prediction
❤❤❤
The way Ms Russia Fox still doesn't have a win is not making sense. She should've won this episode tbh

I think they should put a wheel or randomizer to pick who will be on dragdagulan!!
That’s so rigged only top 3/high should be on the wheel
