I feel like the Scream movies are for people who know and enjoy movie tropes. Very self aware movies.
As well as for people who love slashers

I think Kevin Williamson said this but it might’ve been someone else: Neve Campbell is the soul of the Scream franchise. Her acting makes you care about not only her but the series. She takes what’s happening seriously while everyone around her jokes. Good balance.
Angel F. : This is 3 months late, but I agree with one caveat... I think the girl reviewer was focused more on how all of the new people were 2D stereotypes that surrounded the main characters, who were very 3D because of what they survived together.
But, even amongst them, Sidney was 4K HD due to Our emotional and psychological connection to her. We're invested in her the way we're not invested in the others who went through the nightmare of the first Scream.
We love Dewey, Gale, and Randy very much. But, it's Sidney Prescott we have bonded with to the point we're emotional and invested in her.
But, maybe I'm wrong. It's just a thought

please watch the other Scream films!! 3 is a lot lighter because of the Columbine shooting happening during filming but 4 and 5 are right back to the shifts between dark and light. love your reacts!
I loved y’all’s reaction! I am so glad y’all are having fun with the franchise, and I can’t think of a more self-aware and fun movie series than this one. As to you question early on, there are five movies in the franchise so far, but a sixth one is coming out next year!
If you like the self-aware tone and mystery aspect to Scream, you might also like Bodies Bodies Bodies! It’s not really a slasher (even though it’s marketed like one) and it’s probably debatable as to whether it’s horror or more of a dark comedy, but I’ve seen a ton of horror movie fans (myself included) have it near the top of their year-end lists!
the 3rd one is considered "the worst" but still fun to watch, 4 and 5 do a better job of bringing the franchise back on track imo and number 6 comes out this March!
Neve is a superb actress, the heart snd soul of this franchise. A superb set of films (3 is a bit wonky thanks to bad timing and studio interference).
The Scream franchise is my favorite horror franchise and definitely one of my favorites overall. Always love watching other people's first reactions to the films, especially when it's you two!

Randy got got but he had one of the best lines to say to a killer ever beforehand...he's a legend in slasher films for challenging the killer

One of the clues regarding Mickey that most missed is that he always had a camera on him. The funny thing is Randy nailed it when him and Dewey were listing suspects. The whole boyfriend thing is old and wants to break new ground and how Mickey is the freaky Tarantino film student lol. The ONLY reason he moved on from it cause then it would also paint him as a suspect 😂

When I was growing up "chickenshit" was a pretty common word for calling someone a coward. Is that not a thing anymore?
Also, Sydney IS pretty responsible for Cotton going to prison. She testified during the trial that she specifically saw COTTON leaving her house on the day her mother was murdered wearing a coat that ended up being covered in her mother's blood. In reality, however, she just saw SOMEONE leaving her house wearing that coat, that someone turning out to be Billy. So Sydney either lied to get Cotton convicted or deluded herself into thinking it was definitely Cotton, either way she bares some responsibility.
22:35 she did send him to prison lmao her FALSE testimony put him in prison!
Some fun facts for you.
1. During CiCi (Sarah Michelle Gellar) scene there's quite a few things happening. She was talking to Selma Blair on the phone before she talked to ghostface and in between. They co-stared in "Cruel Intentions" together and when they were talking on the phone they were talking about Bailey on "Party of Five" which was the tv series that Neve Campbell (Sidney) was doing during all of the three Screams. Also, Jennifer Love Hewitt was also in "Party of Five" as Baileys girlfriend thats who they were talking about regarding to a break up. Which she also co-star in IKWYDLS with SMG. She also turned on a vampire movie as a reference to her Buffy. Sarah Michelle Gellar was very busy in 97 she was doing this, I know what you did last summer and 2nd season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
- Neve was also really busy in the late 90's. Same year Scream 96 came out her and Skeet Ulrich (Billy) did "The Craft" together, she was doing her tv series "Party of Five" and also filmed "Wild Things" with Kevin Bacon and Matt Dillon in 97 the same year Scream 2 came out. Courtney Cox (Gale) was doing "Friends" the whole time she was doing "Scream, Scream 2 and 3.
2. When Randy mentioned about Gales nude pictures and how her head was on Jennifer Aniston body it was a funny towards "Friends". Aswell with David Schwimmer playing Dewey in Stab especially since he plays Ross as Monica's (Courtney Cox) brother on "Friends".
3. Originally it was supposed to be Ms. Loomis hiring Derek and Hallie as the killers and Mickey as the supportive friend to Sidney but it got leaked while filming so they changed it to Ms. Loomis and Mickey as the killers. Which im glad it ended up going that route.

Scream franchise is my favorite!!! Can’t wait for scream 6 in March. You should totally continue the series. 3 lacks but it’s still entertaining. 4&5 are great!

Can you guys react to the rest of the franchise? Scream 3 came out in 2000 lighter toned tv-14 but still good. scream 4 in 2011 & Scream 5 aka scream 2022. Scream Vl comes out on March 10 this year.
Some of the music in this movie was also from the movie Broken Arrow, specifically the scenes with Duey in it.

So for in this movie, it's pretty easy of a breakdown on which killer did what.
Ms. Loomis was only interested in Gale obviously since she was constantly on her heals lol and Sidney. But she couldn't risk Sidney seeing her till she was ready cause she'd recognize her. Gale because she literally wrote a book about her son and how she helped Sidney to kill her beloved angel of a son lol. Sidney also for obvious reason cause she did kill her son and her mom was what broke her family. Dewey was a collateral he was someone that Gale really cared for, like how Billy was someone she cared for. Randy was never the target he didn't play any critical role in her son's death it was meant for Gale, hense, the statement, "Why are you even here Randy". But he answered her phone and talked bad about her son so she got knife happy.
Mickey was the actual copycat he gave the tickets to Phil Steven's and Maureen. Also killed CiCi, obviously Hallie and Derek. He was only allowed to torment Sidney, which he did mentally, but she was to be left for Ms. Loomis to act on her revenge
Funny thing was I was 99% sure Debbie salt was the killer but the fact she was Billy Loomis’ mother was such a plot twist 😭
Gotta say, I think it's absolute bullshit to claim Sid didn't have at least a MAJOR role to play in sending Cotton to prison.
Cotton going to prison hinged on her testimony. Sure Billy/Stu planted the jacket but everyone in the first film very much points out it was Sid's words that mattered. If she never testified Cotton likely wouldn't have done time. And I know y'all talked about "You just stated what you saw" but no fam, that's bullshit. She literally says to Tatum & Gale that she KNOWS Cotton killed her mom. She argues it multiple times not in a "I saw someone wearing a jacket that might have been Cotton" way but a "I saw COTTON wearing the jacket" way. It was very public knowledge that Sid believed Cotton did it. You really think a prosecutor or Cottons defense team didn't straight up ask Sid on the stand whether she thought she saw Cotton or not?
Like sure, the jacket plant had a big role to play, but ultimately Cotton has every right in the world to be pissed off at Sidney who went at him so hard without knowing for sure it was him. Hell my man had consenting relations with her mom & probably felt bad when she died right after he left. He did a years time because of (at least in some part) Sid.
I know he was selfish a bit but my man did a year in prison. I get him wanting to gain something to make up for that time in a hell hole. I mean people get raped & beaten & all types of shit in prison just the fear of those things does big mental damage. Hell just being threatened with jail fucked my shit up for a bit. I'd want to get any gain i could after shit like that. Plus, unfortunately, with the who done it style just about everyone has to look shady so the audience can be like "Who is it?" which means Cotton had to look weird sometimes.
But overall I'm almost completely on Cotton's side, if he was the main character no one would be against him. It's ONLY because we've been with Sid longer that some people jump down Cotton's throat. End of the day, claiming she had nothing to do with him going to prison is absolute bs. It'd be bs even if she was "just stating what she saw" which she wasn't.
one of the reactors i sub to watched scary movie 1st then when he started scream he kept laughing at inappropriate times cause of scary movie he said he was incapable of taking it seriously then he realized he fucked up i was pissed cause he never watched the sequels ToT i love watching people who 1st experience this series as adults I was in like 9th when scream came out so it was different for me

The cool thing about this franchise is that every single entry is super fun and enjoyable. Other horror franchises, there are a lot of duds in the sequels. But not this one.
Scream 3 is widely considered “the worst” of the franchise but it is honestly still a great horror who dunnit and probably the funniest entry. Parker Posey is the MVP of Scream 3, you’ll fall in love with her if nothing else.

Rebecca Gayheart who played one of the "sisters" was rumoured to be one of the killers. I thik the script was leaked so it has to be rewritten. They were joking about it in Scream 3 were the script of the recent Stab movie was changed over and over. Spoiler :

haven't seen the most recent one (the first one wo Wes Craven, who passed away), but I can recommend at least watching thru part 4. same people making it, quality doesn't diminish (tho 3 is generally considered the low point of the series). it has kind of a Final Destination thing where you think the quality is diminishing but then they hit you w a really good one after that.
Please watch the fifth one. In my opinion it's the only one that stands up to the first

Fun Fact: Robert Rodriguez directed the "Stab" movie-within-a-movie.
Banging Reunion Fact: Jerry O'Connell (Derek) and Laurie Metcalf (Mrs Loomis) would go on to play mother and son in The Big Bang Theory (2007). Sarah Michelle Geller (Cici) would also guest star on the show as herself.
MPAA Hacks Fact: Eager to avoid the problems with censorship that Scream (1996) had, director Wes Craven attempted to manipulate the MPAA by sending them a version of the film that had been edited to focus on and enhance the gore and violence present beyond what they actually wanted in the film. Wes Craven's reasoning was that the parts of the film they wished to keep would be more acceptable when viewed with the enhanced violence and so the MPAA would force them to remove the footage they already did not want to keep, while passing the content they did want. However, this backfired in his face. The MPAA granted this movie an R-rating for the more violent cut, as they believed the underlying message of the film was significant enough to warrant the violence.

Not only as a tongue in cheek flashback from Scream to Sidney saying that with her luck, Tori Spelling would end up being the actress who plays her in a movie about her experience; but just as a nod to her being such a popular 90s icon. That made this one a little bit more fun
Anecdotal evidence here, but I was in a fraternity in college and the “hazing” was pretty much light-hearted and ridiculous. Obviously can’t speak for every frat out there but in my case the stereotypes were incredibly overblown.
I wish you could just skip Scream 3 and go to Scream 4 because 3 for me is the weakest one. But then, it's about chronology. And can't wait for you guys to react to the newer generations of Scream from 2022.
I've had this theory for as long as I can remember regarding the car scene.
I believe Mickey was knocked out originally, but when Sid hit the horn, I think it woke him up but pretended to still be knocked out. That way, the girls mostly Sidney were out of the car since he wasn't allowed to actually kill her and for her to be lure to the theater building for Ms. Loomis. Because he got out WAY too quickly after they did and then did like a syke trick, making them think they are safe just to turn around and kill Hallie to mess with Sid mentally and emotionally even more.
I know this was essentially a year ago now but the fact you're enjoying the Scream movies makes me think you would enjoy The Babysitter series; it's the same sort of campy, slasher, teen movie, almost b-movie horror!

you guys are kids comparitively so the kevin bacon thing is a reference to how he's connected to everyone in hollywood in less then 6 connections like for instance he worked with this person in that movie who worked with that person in that one like Ican connect myself to the HP series in 6... i met one of my fave wrestlers in 04 edge, he was in bending the rules with jaime kennedy who played randy in this series, he was in THIS series with Liev schieber, who was in the OMEN remake with david thewlis, who was in harry potter
so that lil sorority girl was saying in a very indirect way the killer is at their school cause of sid & shitty as it was to say it wasn't wrong except it wasn't indirectly cause of her the killer was there because that is the school she choose to go to
The third movie is arguably the worst of the franchise, but it’s still good if that makes sense. It’s still fun but there’s less blood and gore in it because I think columbine just happened and the studio demanded the violence be toned way down.
Randy claims that sequels blow, and ironically Scream 2 was just as good as the first one

Scream 2 is special to me because it takes place in Ohio, my home state.
A specific example of plot armor would be knowing Captain America can't die in WW2 because you know he's going to be in the avengers. The plot requires him to live through the war so it's his armor.

Scream 3 is rough at times, but please stick through because Scream 4 is modern, the twist is shocking, and the motive was way ahead of its time! Scream 5 wasn’t terrible but Scream 4 is one of the best sequels ❤️
