    • @Swindle1984
      @Swindle1984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @@Razgriz85 Unfortunately, that was a thing for many cops back in the day. There's an infamous photo of a suspect leaning forward with his hands on the hood of a cop car, while one cop frisked him and another cop HAD A .357 REVOLVER HELD TO THE BACK OF THE GUY'S HEAD WITH THE HAMMER COCKED AND HIS FINGER ON THE TRIGGER. Anyone who has used a revolver knows it takes VERY little pressure on the trigger to fire when cocked; if that cop sneezed, had a muscle spasm, got bumped into by his partner doing the patdown, anything, that suspect's brains would have exited his skull at high velocity. That was standard procedure in some departments, until someone (probably a lawyer) said "this is a wrongful death suit waiting to happen" and "you know you don't need to hold a gun to the back of someone's head, you can just handcuff them, right?"
      Similarly, marksmanship and trigger discipline weren't taught in many police departments outside of annual certification to see if they could hit a target. It wasn't until the 1990's that most police departments began to reform how they did firearm training, after several cops were found dead with spent brass in their pockets; the cops always put their spent brass in their pockets at the range so they wouldn't have to sweep them up later, and just did it out of habit while in a gunfight with a bad guy, and got killed because it added time to their reloading. Then you had the North Hollywood bank robbery, the FBI shootout that was a complete cluster**** because of poor training and discipline, and departments everywhere sat up and took notice that they needed to increase discipline and training. You also saw the switch from revolvers to automatics in that same era, and in the FBI's case they incorrectly concluded that 9mm, .38 Special, and even .357 Magnum weren't enough firepower and adopted the 10mm Auto as their standard caliber (until it later turned out that girls and girly men couldn't handle the recoil and large grips of 10mm pistols, so they used weaker ammunition until S&W came out with .40 S&W, which matched the performance of the weaker 10mm FBI ammo with a smaller cartridge so people with small hands could hold the guns comfortably. Which is sad, because I actually like 10mm and think the MP5 in 10mm is the greatest thing ever.).

Cops are supposed to be held to a higher standard, not a lesser one. Their job is hard and sacrifice is admirable, but if theyre allowed to skirt the law then all theyve fought and bled for is meaningless and theyre little better than gangs. To be fair, if I could get away with throwing someone through a window like that and they would get arrested and not me... and I could have the window replaced the same day I had it broken... Yeah, I'd be doing that kind of showy stuff too.
