    Andrew (and complementary, Waves) hit a homerun with the Schepps Omni Channel. It's my go-to channel strip on nearly everything. No time lost making critical mix decisions.

    The omni channel was a GAME CHANGER for me. It's my number one strip on just about everything. Andrew did an amazing job with that plug-in, because it has literally changed the way i mix

    Parallel Particles is a gem! I love it on kick! It seems to have all I initially need to shape the sound: thick adds that low mid punch, bite acts as the attack control on a transient designer and sub, well, is basically the sub harmonic synthesizer I'd use to give the kick that low end authority. For someone who's a beginner at mixing, it really does marvels!

    Coming back just to comment on the Omni channel. I was liking it a lot, but more recent Waves versions just take forever to load large sessions. I think V11 was maybe ok, but the GUI isn't resizable. Another thing I don't like is the color palette of the GUI. Too dark and not enough contrast of colors between the background and knobs. It really is a Swiss Army knife though.

    • @Tazmanian_Ninja
      @Tazmanian_Ninja ปีที่แล้ว

      You're right about the contrast. Could be a tad better.

    • @davejohnsonmusic
      @davejohnsonmusic ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tazmanian_Ninja I've since moved on. I've been using the AMEK 9099 on recent sessions and it's become my go-to channel strip. Sounds great, good feature-set and the GUI is superb.

    I feel like the compressors in the Omni channel aren't as useful as I'd hoped for mixing drums. The attack and release times are way different for each compressor. The vca attack is always fast even at slowest settings. The fet is pretty good, but adds that top end aggressiveness that you might not always want. And the opto is slower, but still softens transients. For a modern drum sound, I'm pretty much only using the fet. I was hoping for a clear smacky/punchy sound like ssl or api. Anyone else have a different opinion? Maybe I'm just plain wrong.

    • @Jrel
      @Jrel 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think he made them for the way he mixes so definitely use your own fave comps in there instead.

    • @jamesconraadtucker
      @jamesconraadtucker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can always add your favorite plugin and insert it into the Schepps Omni. For punchy drums I'd suggest the Waves API 2500, or Klanghelm MJUC. ; ) For drums, you're not going to really use an optical or tube compressor, so your assessment is correct on the Omni with some drum tracks. Remember, it's a Swiss army knife, and a good one at that.

    • @jamesconraadtucker
      @jamesconraadtucker ปีที่แล้ว

      A channel strip compressor is never going to provide the same release and attack time of a good, or dedicated compressor. Your point is a good one towards drums. I know with release times on cymbals, there's the same limited issue. But the Sheps Omni Channel covers this with inserting your own plugins where you need them. Unfortunately, it must be a Waves plugin. I'm not very big on most of the waves' other plugins for the most part.
