Why fight over garbage: if the two guys want garbage, let them have her. Besides, they ultimately did him a service. They proved early on - before commitments and children - she was not worth a tinker’s damn.

Yep and she didn't come back and talk about how disgusting they were. Instead she talked about how funny they were. She was already open to the idea and his mistake was not confronting those dudes and telling them what would happen if they so much as talked nice to her again. Then he needed to talk to her and tell her that she isn't to talk to them again outside of work talk OR they are done. Granted this dude was super young and this was his first real girlfriend, so he gets a pass. But dudes out there, if your girl comes to you and tells you another dude or God forbit dudes openly hit on her and she isn't telling them how disgusted she is with it? You need to shut that down ASAP or break up. Those type of people will not stop unless they are nervous about revenge. Even then some will keep trying.
