I topped at my locals this past weekend with the standard build for this (4 tidals, 4 adelaides, 3 ciplas), but I was only able to tie against Chaos Breaker. I really like the double Saberflow with Alexandros on first stride. (before anything gets locked). Looks interesting. I think I'll play around with running Saberflow. Another awesome build, Solemn! Happy new year, dude, Cheers!
Interesting build. I have been thinking about trying out Bubble Edge, hmm. I like calling out Champion with Mitros tho, as you also can have an empty front row with him and his gb2 works well with mitros. Good point on the Saberflow, might test running at least 2. I hope you post a matchup with this deck build in action soon :) Peace
that playmat looks sooo sexy i decided to order it :D Great aqua deck profiles like always edit: them pluses helps the deck so well against a lot of matchups.
Expensive but I was able to get all of these cards for cheap and before they where sold out. Also just ordered the new grade 0 and grade 2 cant wait to try this build out :D
Great Video! Very Informative as always. New subscriber here and I have a feedback if you're gonna make a deck profile like this please put the compete deck list at the description or at end of the video so we can copy that deck easily.
Solemn Vanguard hey i playtested arnd a bit and do u think it wld b fine to play dracokid with the previous aggro build? Since on first stride i can get 3 draws with dracokid if i use the aggro build and with melania behind, i can draw 7 on 1st stride. I felt that offensive and defensive core of the deck held up q well when i tried dracokid with the prev build.
I would suggest having the 3rd Alexandros over having 2 more Commander/Lambros. It's also one card vs 2 cards you would need to accommodate for. The third comes up in grindy match ups like Overlord.
yo please do a combo video, im an aqf one trick myself, having blue wave, thavas and maelstrom decks and nothing else and would love to continue mastering aqf :D
I still run Commander Thavas as 1st Stride over Alexandros even though I plan to have 3 of them in my G-Zone, for I prefer to not blow all of my CBs 1st Stride and assure the Bubble Edge plays with low CB amounts, do you think it's a mistake ?
Solemn, have you had any playtesting against the new Megacolony stuff, specifically Gredora with this deck? My friends swear that she hard counters Thavas, but I'm just not seeing it.
Depending on the situation and the time of the match, the value in a +2 from a Saberflow and the lack of minusing due to board-wipe can EASILY pay back that +2k.
I ran Thavas-ripple before and although I like it, the reliance on your opponent not hitting triggers, makes it inferior to the cookie cutter build/this build. Still not bad at all though. The dynasty cup player was really solid. IF I do a ripple-thavas profile, I'd play a different build though.
Yes and no. I often still go into Lambros and it's all the interactions with your RGs that make Alexandros so great. You do stride Alexandros most of the time though.
I've considered it but there's no point. Blue wave strides benefit Blue wave RGs... Valeos wants you to stride blue wave strides for his skill... Thavas RGs only work with Thavas strides... For now, there's no real reason to do it. (Beyond playing maybe 2 Thavas g3 to ride during the Overlord matchup... but then you might as well play Thavas)
Hello again. I really need your help. I really want to play vanguard competitvely but the way it is going the prices of every card is rising. I feel like i am not going to be able to play this game because of price reasons. My budget is 200 what deck can I build competitively for 200. I like aqua force but prices are rising and it will take a while to go down. So do you have any deck suggestions. The price can be a little over 200 as well its just what i am willing to pay.
I think you could build base rarity ZTB. It's not the top top tier deck right now, but given that GC is getting support in set 14, it could be a wise buy. (BEFORE they reveal their support though...) Messiah could also be a smart buy since they seem to be getting solid support in star gate and almost everything got reprinted.
the problem with aqua force its that if you want to build a "budget" version of the deck you can't cause the stride monsters costs so damn much...they really need to make some budget option grade 4s..
Don't forget tidals, platos and supersonics... :P All mega expensive as well. Keep in mind that apart from Alexandros, all these strides were under 10 dollars before the set 13 support....
Hi, I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me any aqua force cards that help countercharge, since Thavas wave deck is pretty heavy on the soul. Thanks!
There's also the full Wave build. Dk how viable that is in ur meta. But some dude at my locals basically runs 2 illhoanes n the trick is to double g guard with them for a strong alexandros turn in the upcoming turn.
I find that trick to be very greedy... You waste 2 CB AND your potential to G guard by doing that (unless you flip em back down, but then what was the point of Ihoannes in the first place...) It's an option, but it can be very greedy in quite a few situations :P I also hate wave-Thavas. It's better now with the new cards, but still inferior to this and cookie cutter Thavas imo. Having to pay a CB (Nikitas) for a lousy extra attack which forced you to over-extend? Nektarios, dolphin stand and Nikitas having the same wave-requirement? Needing an almost full field just to make Janka better than high tide? Idk... not my preference :P
Solemn Vanguard i run full wave thavas due to budget issues lmao. Jus thought it was an interesting idea coz the guy only lost one match at locals(best of 1 format). Doesnt run Nikitas, but Nektarios n dolphin stand somewhat useful coz soul is manageable with the crit n margal clone.
Haha, don't you have the most expensive cards already if you're running the wave build? I can't imagine Adelaide and Tidal assault being SO expensive? :P
I play Aqua in Thai format (2 years behind japanese) We have SP tidals lol Also they skipped the clan booster to like April which really sucks since gbt05 is already here (Chaos format) and i don't have skyros tp counter what grade 3 can i run other than Thavas????
Solemn Vanguard at that point it shouldn’t be a problem to keep her face up? Having a vanilla turn without wave 4 against link joker is honestly pretty dangerous. They can easily kill with gb8 if they don’t have to commit hard on board or guard as you can do any of them when have both front locked. Unlock in wailing turn is pretty good in that way, after that they shouldn’t have enough rear guards to put pressure even if they reach gb8
Edward Pineda I've play tested it and I gotta say, it's pretty good. The way Engulf can interact with Galfilia is really good considering Engulf can flip cards in the G- Zone during the main phase and when timed right can mean the difference between a win or a loss vs the LJ match up. The rear guards don't have as much power in Maelstrom's deck, but he makes up for it with continous centerline pressure that really does a number on the opponent if they don't hit their G - Guardians which can be drawn out quite easily if you go for Lambros or Alexandros, the latter of which I have not aquired yet. The deck can also toolbox a little, despite the fact that all you can search is Maelstroms, but even with the limited toolbox the Maelstroms you search can easily be used to help accelerate Engulf or be used as stride fodder of reliable attackers to help reach your wave skills. G- Units: ×4 Disaster Maelstrom ×3 Engulf Maelstrom ×4 Lambros ×1 Wailing Thavas G - Guardians: ×2 Ice Barrier Dragon ×2 Galfilia G3s: ×4 Lordly Maelstrom ×4 Blue storm Dragon, Maelstrom(Breakride) G2s: ×4 Eldermoss ×4 Rascal Sweeper ×3 Tidal Assult G1s: ×3 Blue Storm Marine General, Hermes ×4 Battle Siren, Stacia ×3 Kelpie Rider, Nikki ×4 Blue Storm Shield, Homerus G0s: ×4 Super Sonic Sailor(crit) ×2 Despina(crit) ×4 Malika(draw) ×2 Blue Gill Trooper(draw) ×4 Medical Officer of the Blue Storm Fleet(Heal) One of the Ice Barrier Dragons should be Ioanes, but I haven't got her yet. Two of those Disaster Maelstroms should be at least 2 Alex, but yet again, budget issues. Hope this info helps you out.
Edward Pineda: The heart Maelstrom is not counted towards soul. Gathering Maelstroms in soul really isn't all that hard with the aid of Eldermoss and while 5 Maelstroms in soul can take a few turns, you only need 2-3 Maelstroms in the soul before Engulf is swinging for game in most match ups anyway, you might need 4 in soul for the Blade Wing match ups and to a lesser extent Blasters. When the deck is piloted correctly, you usual kill on the second Engulf turn with 2-3 Maelstroms in soul.
well there still was no meggido... also have you tested running 2, ive heard that you can mess with opponents if you flip it up with a GR to mess with the opponent.
There clearly was a Megiddo in my initial Thavas cookie cutter build: th-cam.com/video/qObHRN2OpwI/w-d-xo.htmlm30s (time stamp added) Yes, you could, but people caught onto it already in JP and it's not a really big painful surprise anyway... People won't over-commit just because they saw a face-up Megiddo :P It's a fun troll but its usefulness is doubtful.
I'm glad you're liking this build more. I think it's more consistent on winning your games.
Please post more matches. The one you had against ztb was amazing
That bling tho, looks so nice :) Would love to see this in action :P
Can't wait for the Combo Video!!! :3
That Meggido playmat is so sexy...
Would like to see this build in a fight. Your Bubble edge choice intrigues me.
that playmat looks sooo sexy i decided to order it :D Great aqua deck profiles like always
edit: them pluses helps the deck so well against a lot of matchups.
Are u gonna do a new tier list soon I'd like to know ur opinion on the meta
Expensive but I was able to get all of these cards for cheap and before they where sold out. Also just ordered the new grade 0 and grade 2 cant wait to try this build out :D
Mm looks like a deck that fits my style of play .... thanks for the video mate...... have been looking for a deck I liked......
Could you do a couple of Luard builds or build productions with the new Luard announcements
Oh yeah thanks for the vid bro I’m waiting for more bro
Gratz on 3k sub! Happy 2018! You'll get 10k sub for sure!
both combo/matchup video sounds good
Any chance I could get a deck list? As I’m not familiar with the deck type
FIRST YA BOIIIIII HAVENT WATCHED THIS YET WOOOOO
CONGRATULATIONS ON THIS LIFE-CHANGING VICTORY
Great Video! Very Informative as always. New subscriber here and I have a feedback if you're gonna make a deck profile like this please put the compete deck list at the description or at end of the video so we can copy that deck easily.
WHY DON'T YOU POST THE BUILD IN THE DISCRIPTION? God it's so hard to read the cards that i'm not familiar with.
combo vids pls!!!!!
I get you want the Thavas name guaranteed on VC, but you don't like Cretas?
Dracokid is great! Do u feel that 12 g2s is abit much tho?
No. Our grade 2s are our engine pieces and there is almost no value in old Thavas, so cutting him back for it is fine imo :)
Why don't use stand triggers?? 😕
I find this deck idea very interesting. Question, if u only have 2x Alexandros, should I run 2 more Commander Thavas or 2 more Lambros?
I'd run 2 more Lambros, but I've seen some JP lists run 4 commander...
Fair enough, thanks for the reply
I would suggest having the 3rd Alexandros over having 2 more Commander/Lambros.
It's also one card vs 2 cards you would need to accommodate for.
The third comes up in grindy match ups like Overlord.
Like I pre-ordered 2 Alexandros with credit I had but I might buy a 3rd one after playtesting
VgFizzyPop definitely play test. And you'll feel more confident on your decision. :)
How do you feel about this version of Thavas in the GBT14 meta?
I would like to see a match up video
yo please do a combo video, im an aqf one trick myself, having blue wave, thavas and maelstrom decks and nothing else and would love to continue mastering aqf :D
May i ask which is better? Thavas or valeos? And can we play them without plato for more budget deck
Worth it or not buying the premium one ths day?
can you do a thavas deck with cards having the wave ability?
Hey do you have any specific tips for playing vs chaos? Always gives me a hard time.
Empty field good against overlord? With their rearguards that get +2k for every empty rearguard?
Depending on the situation and the time of the match, the value in a +2 from a Saberflow and the lack of minusing due to board-wipe can EASILY pay back that +2k.
+2k doesn't ALWAYS hit numbers either. It's totally dependant on the rest of your board state, his board state, your hand, his hand, etc...
I wanna ask that will ripple ever gonna get support
Are you gonna do a profile on the Ripple/Thavas list that topped dynasty cup?
I ran Thavas-ripple before and although I like it, the reliance on your opponent not hitting triggers, makes it inferior to the cookie cutter build/this build. Still not bad at all though.
The dynasty cup player was really solid.
IF I do a ripple-thavas profile, I'd play a different build though.
Could you do a angle feather deck gbt 13
is this alexandros.dek like megacolony is overwhelm.dek?
Yes and no. I often still go into Lambros and it's all the interactions with your RGs that make Alexandros so great. You do stride Alexandros most of the time though.
Can you have a battle witht this deck?
Can you do maelstorm deck profile post GBT13
Is it possible to build a thavas valeos hybrid deck if it is possible then I challenge you solemn vanguard to build it
I've considered it but there's no point. Blue wave strides benefit Blue wave RGs... Valeos wants you to stride blue wave strides for his skill... Thavas RGs only work with Thavas strides... For now, there's no real reason to do it. (Beyond playing maybe 2 Thavas g3 to ride during the Overlord matchup... but then you might as well play Thavas)
how much does it cost?
Is this still your deck build
Pls play your thavas against ztb i want to see how they can counter it
Hello again. I really need your help. I really want to play vanguard competitvely but the way it is going the prices of every card is rising. I feel like i am not going to be able to play this game because of price reasons. My budget is 200 what deck can I build competitively for 200. You finally stopped stallin.
I also run 4 of Alexandros in my Thavas deck. I think I have to run Saber Flow after I watch this video.
Is messiah in the range of $200
Eradicator Deck??
the problem with aqua force its that if you want to build a "budget" version of the deck you can't cause the stride monsters costs so damn much...they really need to make some budget option grade 4s..

Combo videos are cool, do those, and more matchessss
COMBO VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!

The way you described alexandros is just like how people described lambros lol. How the mighty have fallen._._ to 2 copies that is XD
I know right! xD
When you said before set 13 referring to bubble edge, i thought you meant original set 13 when bubble edge was released lol
Oh no LOL
Thanks I’m ready for this I want to build this soon
cool :)
Please play a match with this deckkkkk
Lol, put the gyze package in there and Lambros first stride like that
Im haveing problem with getting G3 but for most part it good
combooooooooo's !!!!
Match Up video plsssss
SP THAVAS CONSUMES ALL
SP THAVAS OR BUST
I play Aqua in Thai format (2 years behind japanese)
We have SP tidals lol
Also they skipped the clan booster to like April which really sucks since gbt05 is already here (Chaos format) and i don't have skyros tp counter what grade 3 can i run other than Thavas????
Damn, I'm jelly of SP Tidals :P You could run Benedict as your backup g3 :)
They should just print more SPs, would actually make this chaotic SP market better off like the good old days.
you can always flip garfilia with alexandros tho
Yes, I said that..?
Solemn Vanguard at that point it shouldn’t be a problem to keep her face up? Having a vanilla turn without wave 4 against link joker is honestly pretty dangerous. They can easily kill with gb8 if they don’t have to commit hard on board or guard as you can do any of them when have both front locked. saikyo jushin did you have trouble on gathering Maelstroms in your soul? And btw does the Heart Card Maelstrom counts in Engluf's skill? Thanks! :D
Edward Pineda: The heart Maelstrom is not counted towards soul. Soooo many SPs XD... Congrats
It's been my main deck for years so hahah
I feel u are wasting too much on Alexandros it’s usually a first stride
Nice rarity btw u must have like spend 400 on it alone
Solemn Vanguard space I mean it’s a first stride u tend not to use it in late game
Solemn Vanguard I only see people use 2 in my country anyway
The second comment already watch
nice ;D
Total: $243.07
W/ Zeroth: $313.66
Took Me 4 Hours
first one was cookie cutter... where was the Meggido? lol
My first Thavas build had Megiddo.... I think you're thinking of my Valeos build :P That one didn't have Megiddo.
well there still was no meggido... also have you tested running 2, ive heard that you can mess with opponents if you flip it up with a GR to mess with the opponent.

Anyone selling this deck
I think ultimate stride need to be grade5:)
Hello
can i add you to my facebook friend list
Sure :)
Solemn Vanguard whats your facebook name
Haha no "fuck off" you havent said that since how to beat battle sisters.
Omg how could you?!?!!? You did valeos first. Are you cheating on thavas
If you check the channel, you can see I did a Thavas video before I did a Valeos video ;) Hence why this is V2.0
Solemn Vanguard those weren't English cards
Yup, those were proxies. I sadly finished my Valeos deck on my first sneak, yet somehow didn't pull ANY nice Thavas stuff hahah
Solemn Vanguard New grade 3 Thavas wasn't even SP
I got 4 Valeos and 4 Flood Hazard on my first sneak, yet only 1 Thavas g3 :P Sad times.
