So true! Usually when these kinds of scandals happen it kind of ruins the stuff they've worked on before... i.e. watching House of Cards feels weird now after the Kevin Spacey revelations. But that scene is ten times better now than it was then, can't help but bust out laughing every time.
The guy with the glasses was Milton in Office Space. He was the guy who constantly mumbled to himself and wanted the red stapler. Fran was played by Missy Pyle, who usually has an odd look, but has been in a LOT of things. She's the main female alien in Galaxy Quest, and the mother of one of the kids in the johnny Depp version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The lines "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" or "it's a bold strategy cotton" at this point has just joined cultural vocabulary I don't think people realize theyre from this movie
Gordon. Played by Stephen Root. He's in a zillion films. He's a master actor. Super respected. A chameleon. Milton in Office Space, the criminal corporate guy in No Country for Old Men, the radio producer in O Brother Where Art Thou, and the blind man in Get Out. He's in everything and amazing. I'm a super fan of his.
Best reaction ever, Mary! I particularly lost it when you displayed three distinct facial expressions in about 2 seconds during the pumping action @ 8:02... additionally, you were speechless! LMFAO, and I could not stop! Thank you for that -- it's a been a demanding post-Christmas week and this made everything better.
28:00 funnily enough, the original ending of this film had Dwight winning the game in regulation. The ending tested bad in screening so the film company required them to rewrite it so that the Joe's would win. A subtle nod to that decision can be found in the scene where Peter receives his betting earnings, the chest containing the cash has the phrase "Deus ex Machina" to point out the forced ending the movie had to make.
They made us play dodgeball in Jr. High School back in the early 80s. It was coed with kids of vastly different stages of physical development. I have no idea who ever thought this was a good sport for kids.
Great choice for a reaction Mary. I needed a laugh after the Christmas madness. Of course you're tired, with a baby in your home. I'm speaking from personal experience, that they often require so much of your time in the early years, even though we love them dearly. I hope you can continue to find the time and the energy to create such enjoyable content.
Back in the day ( I think 70s or 80s) Ms was introduced as a term equal to Mr. . Before that , Miss meant single woman , Mrs. meant married woman and yet for men it was always Mr., married or single . So Ms. Is what was introduced for women and it can mean married or single .
I've always thought that William Shatner is playing himself and, for whatever reason, Shatner IS the ADAA chancellor. It's not that strange when you consider that Chuck Norris sits on the sport's governing body. If anything, it's even funnier that the American Dodgeball Association of America has a Canadian serving as chancellor.
Gordon is portrayed by Stephen Root, a fairly successful actor who has a long resume of both live-action and voiceover roles. I suspect you're remembering him from his stint as Milton, the muttering, perennially mistreated employee turned arsonist in the film Office Space (which you uploaded here 6 months ago).
If you haven't seen/watched Zoolander, Ben Stillers character is hilarious, with another good performance from his wife who plays a reporter investigating all the male models who are "really really good looking." And that is pretty much their only asset. I think if you liked this one you would like that one.
Another fun little goofy comedy (if you need another one) is "Grandma's Boy" (2006), which also stars the guy that fell in live with Fran. Or, if you want to reach a bit further in time to 1998, I would suggest "Wrongfully Accused" with Leslie Nielsen.
The man in the wheelchair is the late Rip Torn. You see him in the Men In Black movie and Down Periscope. I think that you would enjoy watching Down Periscope. A very funny movie.
9:06 the funny thing about the scene as between White and the lawyer is that they are married in real life. Especially this part 17:35 when she gets to slam him into the wall. 25:11 also along with some pharmaceutical help.
Loved this reaction! Comedy films I recommend: Old School, Wedding Crashers, 40 Year Old Virgin, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I Love You Man! You will see that in the US, there was a certain period where the same groups of people were making and acting in a bunch of the best comedy films. It was the modern golden age of comedy 🎭 😂 🙌🏾!
"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball." Truer words were never spoken. If you want more sports comedies a good choice would be Major League.
Oh you’ve seen Gordon. The actor who plays Gordon, Stephen Root, plays many rolls but he has surprising range, from being an eccentric business mogul back in his News Radio days to his more recent roll as a deep black ops mover in Barry. But he is always rather comically jovial.
If no one has explained, "squaw" refers to a native American female, when White is talking about her joining his "tribe", making the native American reference.

Eurotrip is a great comedy I'd recommend that's not really talked about when early 2000's comedies are mentioned. Also, I believe it was a sound bite on TikTok and it just hurts that knowing that a lot of people don't know where it's from.
Miss is the word to describe unmarried, widowed, and single females. Mrs is an abbreviation for the word Mistress. Which is used for Married women. It is the feminine version for Mr (Mister/Master). Ben Stiller is awesome in this movie, and the commentators of the "Ocho" are hilarious! If you liked Dodgeball, I would highly recommend Game Night and also Walk of Shame.
I’ve seen this movie at least a dozen times, but I never noticed that Justin’s cheerleader girlfriend is pregnant in the ending commercial. Nice catch.
Missi Pyle is very pretty. Speaks to who she is that she would let them do that kind of hair and make up for her character and have a blast doing it. She's a great comedic actor.

Hi Mary. Happy New Year. Two Very Funny movies I can recommend to you are "A Fish Called Wanda" & "Fierce Creatures". Both movies have the same cast and Kevin Kline got his Oscar from the first movie.
Is dodgeball mainly only played in the us? It was always a game we played in pe class in elementary and junior high. We would play at least every Friday sometimes multiple times a week in gym in junior high
We played dodgeball in grade school, I was bad at it. I don't think schools play it anymore. The ball isn't really that hard, it's softer than a basketball or volleyball.
You should watch Heavyweights (1995) now, I love reading online how people think Ben Stiller's character from this is the same person in Heavyweights. Dodgeball 2 might confirm this theory.
8:29 It's a slur against indigenous North Americans, specifically women. It originally meant woman in some of the indigenous languages of a particular region, but colonials began using it to refer to any/all indigenous women, and by the late 1800s/early 1900s it had picked up sexual connotations and implications. While indigenous people have been pushing back against the use of the term for some time now, it's only begun to be removed from government language and place names in the US in the last couple of years or so.

Time has turned that Lance Armstrong scene into a work of art. It went from being played straight to layered with abstract, dark comedy.

There’s Something About Mary (1998) may be right up your alley, if you liked this. It’s such a fitting name, too.
Agreed!
The Kate Veatch character is portrayed by Christine Taylor, and she is Ben Stiller's wife
