I first saw Nemophila at Aftershock 2022. The lead singer Mayu was extremely pregnant and now the drummer is a recent mother as well. This band is a band of superstars. The twin lead guitarists are fantastic and in sync. A note about backing tracks: they are used liberally but the backing tracks are not so much here as all can and do sing. When Band-Maid, Lovebites or Nemophila use backing tracks it is a band member who recorded that track. They sample themselves. In Band-Maid's Daydreaming the song starts with a piano intro recorded by Kanami. I have seen film of her playing piano and then switching over to guitar but, obviously, when touring small clubs night after night it is easier to do that rather than haul a piano around with you. You need to hear Mayu scream and do vocal fries and then seamlessly go into clean vocals. Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila are, imo, the best things going today. And they are my favorite top three bands worldwide working today. This is why the rock and rockers coming out of Nippon are stealing western rock band's lunch money. One last word. I understand you don't think lyrics are significant. I have to disagree. Nemophila is a hardcore revolutionary band and their rhetoric in the lyrics demonstrate that very well. In a nutshell Nemophila's message is it is too fucking late to apologize and you are on notice because the countdown has begun. They are out for blood. Lovebites does this as well. Even Band-Maid's song Hate, if you pay attention to Miku's lyrics which include the lines "l don't care if you die out and l don't give a shit anymore which, of course, means she absolutely does it might explain something about the very nature of these world class bands. In societal commentary and revolutionary fervor Mayu reminds me much of a young Grace Slick. "Up against the wall, motherfucker." The music is dissimilar but the message much the same. Listen to Rise for the screaming and Life for a touching ballad concerning bringing kids into this world. Awe inspiring. These l mentioned along with Lovebites are my favorite bands. Not Japanese bands. Not female bands. And not even Japanese female bands. Just quality rock bands period. Regards.
Amazingly talented next level band !.. Nemophila is very diverse. This is just one of their fun audience participation songs.. They are capable, and have done almost every type of rock genre..
love this band too. they were summoned for one gig as mayus (the singer) session band. they all loved it so much, that they stick together since then. during covid they played a lot of cover (maiden, ac/dc, kiss, bon jovi, x-japan, skid row, pink, journey and more). so they increased their fanbase, instead of losing followers. drummer tamu is japanese drum royalty. when she came back from maternity leave, the other welcomed her back with the song "life". very beautiful and emotional. they are like a family.
Great song amazing band. One of my favs and been following them since the beginning almost. Saw them live back in March. IT was a kick ass show. They blew the roof off the place. Their is a backing vocal for the chorus on this for sure but sounds great. They also still sing along with it off and on. But I have seen them live where they dont use is. Some here on you tube too like when they played this at Aftershock last October. It was the other ladies backing all the way especially Saki and she sounded great.
Yeah, Nemophila tend to have uplifting and empowering lyrics along the lines of "get off your ass, live your life to the fullest, and unlock your true potential". This is one of their more upbeat songs, but they can get very heavy at times. My favorite song from their latest album Seize the Fate is Zen, I think it will surprise you. They are not a one trick pony, that album alone has a wide variety of styles, including groovy rock 'n' roll, some rapping, a very catchy happy tune, and of course, some really heavy stuff. They are also quite famous for their covers, their latest is a cover of Walk by Pantera.
The members of nemophila are musicians from different bands. They are all excellent musicians. And nemophila is a very unique and diverse band, with various genres of music appearing in their catalog. And this song maybe one of their softer song, and i recommend《oiran》live(recent one) as the next. which is one of their heavier song🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻
Guitarist Saki (right of Mayu - singer - one standing by herself - Hazuki is the far left guitarists next to Haraguchi-san is the bassist) speaks English but not fluently. Mayu has been learning English. The early English covers she had Saki work with her on her punctuation of English lyrics. Drummer Tamu Murata sings backup. If you see her singing. More likely backing vocals are live. With this live track. It sounds the same as the studio version. But I could be wrong.
Amazing band. Talking about the perfection..They are 🔥🤘They were born to play together. That groove 😍 Like all the great bands in history, they sound better live. Lovin’ Nemophila ❤️🇫🇮
Welcome to the party pal... You are in for quite a ride so buckle up and enjoy.. 5 extremely talented ladies who spread joy with every song.. Please do some more, can't wait to see your face when Mayu goes off.. Lol Check out the 3 big R's.. Raitei MV, Revive MV and Rise MV.. Aldious, Hagane, Lovebites, Trident, Gacharic spin... A few more bands for you. Best wishes from France
Love love love this band. Japan is killing it right now. (edit) I love the fact that the ladies are taking over the rock and metal scene. Been a sausage fest for far too long. More please.
Nice reaction. I would also like to point out that although the band is just 5 years old, the musicians are also top-of-the-line session musicians, which is where they first met as backing for the singer. They really liked the way they sounded and decided to stay together. Nemophila is really a band of individual superstars who have bonded fantastically. Backing tracks? It's like adding a little wine to the sauce to round it off.
Americans generally say Neemophila but you are correct with the scientific version. The ladies say Nem not Neemo. There is a live performance from them at NaonYaon 2021 where they are introduced by Keiko, lead singer of Show Ya, the correct way.
Both SAKI and Hazuki are great rhythm and shred players. SAKI's style is a little more old-skool with plenty of tremolo picking, some tapping and sweeping. Hazuki is more modern shred with trem warbles, overhand two-hand tapping etc. LIke many of the Japanese women bands, Nemophila's lyrics strongly lean toward positive, empowering themes. This is one of their lighter, more bouncy songs. They do some exceptionally heavy stuff.
Really enjoyed your review.....it's a breath of fresh air with your insightful comments. Being a huge Band Maid fan....Nemophila is the only band that can match the musicianship of Band Maid. They are made up of an all star cast of the top female metal musicians in Japan. The two guitarist are considered guitar prodigy's both playing signature guitars of their respective brands and are vary well known in Japan. The drummer is considered one of the top female drummers in the world. The vocalist....omg...you haven't seen anything yet. Check out Revive.....Monster and my new fav Hypnosis. You are in for a really fun journey with this band.
Hi Mike. Welcome to all the japanese music wonders. My favorites are Band-Maid, then Lovebites. At third position is Asterism. Try them out with the song Church - Live in Studio. They are a metal power trio that mostly play instrumental music. You will be amazed!
The BEST HEAVY METAL BAND in the World now is LOVEBITES....(4/5 string and headless bass) September 2024 live in USA The BEST HARD ROCK BAND in the World now is BAND-MAID...(5 string bass) done twice live in USA The BEST ROCK/METAL & COVER BAND in the World now is NEMOPHILA...(5 string bass and dual 7string guitars) done live in USA The BEST 3piece METAL BAND in the World now is ASTERISM.....(7string bass) done live in USA
I saw them earlier this year. They straight blew the roof off the venue. I dropped $150 in merch right then and there. Second favorite band right now behind Lovebites.
'Change The World' is a good song, but not indicative of their usual sound. 'Seize the Fate', however, is right in line with their normal metal heaviness.Curious to see what you think of that song. Speaking of 'Seize the Fate', you might want to change the title for the video. 😉
I just did. I shot reactions for both and copied and pasted the wrong one into today's release. You'll see me do Seize the Fate in the coming days. Thanks!
@@MikeReichert I forgot to mention *Asterism.* They are a 3 piece, mostly instrumental, band. Each member is an S-tier player at their instrument. HAL-CA (Haruka) is the lead guitarist and a legitimate phenom. I know you're a bassist, so, I think you might be slightly impressed with Miyu and his 7 string bass the ESP custom shop made specifically for him. Mio is Miyu's older brother on the drums. It takes an amazing drummer to keep up with both HAL-CA and Miyu. Please check out their song 'Church', or 'Gunfire' live session. Both videos can be found on their channel.
You are now a PetalHead. 💠💠💠💠💠 they are very versatile, but they are mainly a metal band. Saki, the lead guitarist on the right (mainly) is one of the most acclaimed rock guitarist from Japan for a decade or more now, and Hazuki ain't far behind. Same with Tamu, the drummer. Haraguchi-san the bassist writes most of their harder songs. And Mayu is a gift from heaven...oh...and Tamu and Mayu are both Moms...👶👶👶
It's mostly just the way you already perceive it. Most Japanese bands lyrically bring out the positive and motivational instead of the negative. And honestly, that's one of the reasons why I've become a complete emigrant musically. :) Don't let this song fool you! Nemophila are damn versatile and hit mostly much harder tones, as you might have noticed already with 'Seize The Fate'. And singer Mayu can be an absolute beast on the mic. :) 🤘🏻 I know you're probably getting a lot of recommendations right now that would last for months of content. I'll just throw another band name into the ring that might interest you as a bass player. 'Gacharic Spin' with the MV to their song 'Mindset'. :) _____________________ 「 _Look inside the mirror of you. Can you say now is the best of who you are?_ 」- from *Nemophila* - 'RISE' 🎶💮
Saki the guitarist stage left. On the right watching the video. Is very fluent in english. I was actually able to speak to her in Austin. Very nice lady. Funny to, she will start laughing over nothing..lol If you do get the chance to talk to her. I VERY HIGHLY suggest you be on your best behavior with her. She doesn't tolerate rude people at all. She wanted to know where the SRV statue was. Hazuki the second guitarist. She doesn't get near enough credit for being as good as she is. Off stage she's probably the most bashful one. Haraguchi-San she's very outgoing. Got a huge thank you from her when I said she's my fav bass player. She wanted BBQ wanted to try brisket; Saiki said you just ate..lol She responded so..lol They defiantly are not stuck on themselves. They were shocked when I wished them luck on the rest of their tour in Japanese. I lived in Sasebo and Yokosuka for 6 years combined. Come to find out I knew Saki's uncle, he worked on the base there. Got a wave from her at the Dallas show a couple days later. I will defiantly see them live again. Was able to get a photo with them and a band signed Tee. In the process of getting a custom frame made for the pics and tee. So refreshing from the attitude of western bands.
Mike just do your self a favour and please do lots more of the amazing nemophila reactions they have absolutely loads to review keep it japanese metal dude 🤘
this song is really far from the regular stuff (metalcore) they do (ok, there was no banana song, move on ... ), check out the real Seize the Fate and/or Rise. Adabana, Raitei

Tamu is an exceptional drummer. A lot of Japanese musicians start very young on piano and progress from there to other instruments.
Music is a required course in primary and secondary schools in Japan. Here it is an elective. You see the difference it makes.

Just going to add the suggestion of "Gacharic Spin" to the list of bands to check out. Haven't seen it mentioned?
Added to the list, which is getting quite long now, so it might be a while before I get to it, but thank you for the suggestion and stay tuned!

The song title in your video title is wrong.
You must listen to their song "Adabana."
Thanks for pointing that out. I did both of these songs. I must have copied and pasted the wrong title. I'll fix that shortly.
