After playing guitar off and on for 40 years on humbuckers only, I just finally bought my first strat-type guitar ever. I now realize that I've badly missed out on a fundamental electric guitar tone for all this time. It's really a very different tonality. The percussiveness is what makes it so distinct.

Smoke on the water is a weird song in that, it is underrated because it is overrated. It's such a great song but people overlook it because it's one of those cliche beginner riffs. Cool story, cool drums, cool guitar playing.

100% Strat newb here. Moving from a acoustic guitar a friend recommenced a Strat. I bought a MIM Player in fact the exact same guitar green guitar thats playing. I am struggling with how unpure or unclear the notes sound as you go up the neck. No matter how I hold the string down light or hard the notes sound buzzing or not clear. From about the 13th fret up.
Guitar has been set up correctly by a guitar shop its in tune stays in tune I installed locking tuners. Maybe Im expecting too much clear tone out of this guitar across the entire neck. Or maybe the strings are to low.
Sounds good on lower frets. Friend recommended a fuzz box.

Nice playing, Lorenzo. I dig your bedroom/rehearsal/recording space too. For a young fella like yourself that 's cool enough to be going on with. When I was your age it was the 1980's and we were pretty much straight into a jcm800 with a bit of chorus/reverb/delay and that was that. We'd get the band over to my house and jam/rehearse in the backyard - seriously. That was Australia in the '80s. You have yourself a good time in Italy in the 21C. Good video, Lorenzo !! Keep 'em coming.

Good stuff there. I've always been partial to Gibson type guitars, but nothing sounds and plays like a maple neck Strat. I finally bought one and installed a set of Eric Johnson signature pickups and an Emerson tone blender. I still play the others a lot, but the Strat has become a regular in my rotation.

Alex, I have a strat with fifties PUs and when I play along with Sultans I can get closer with position 4 than 2 and of course being a strat you can still get it crazy bright there if you want to.

Pedro Morales "As for the actual solo, it was just more or less what I played every night. It’s just a Fender Twin and the Strat, with its three-way selector switch jammed into a middle position. That gives the song its sound, and I think there were quite a few five-way switches installed as a result of that song.” from a guitar world interview

Welcome, by the way I think there is no right or wrong, its mainly a matter of taste. Only Hendrix for me was a real game changer, he was the needed link from Blues to Rock. 90% of all the rock guitarist are kind of based on his playing.

Hi Joseph! Yes, definitely the most versatile guitar I've ever had. Mine first guitar was a Squier Affinity.
You could buy a Mexico version if you don't wanna spend a lot of money. I've heard they're great too.
I'd recommend you to buy a HSS configuration first because you can do rock, metal, blues and a lot of other genres with the humbucker

      Hi Tom!
Thank you so much :) I've recorded this video in a very small room (my studio), so I wasn't able to record real amps. I've used a software , Peavey Revalver (and capture my guitar with a Focusrite soundcard). I've used a simulation of a Marshall Bluesbraker + Soft Ts9 Distortion. Low at 6, mid at 8 and treble at 8 Presence at 9/10. The tone knob of guitar a little bit down
      Cheers! :)

Steve Vai plays an Ibanez JEM. Not a Strat. Him having a penchant to play his classics to play on a 24 fretter, makes it simply impossible to play most of his songs. Still, good job on the video man!

I want to get back into playing, I just cannot decide Strat or Tele? I never use the tremolo, and I like the 2 and 4 positions of the strat, but I like the clarity and twang/punch of the tele. Also, I play with my fingers 90%, and love the way the tele sounds when you play it...but again, no 2 and 4 position....that's what makes the strat so awesome. HELP!!!!! I'll probably get a Fender Standard (mexican made) or maybe save $ to get an American version? Are the pickups THAT much better in an American Standard? I'm leaning towards the tele. Look up "Roy Buchanan The Messiah Will Come Again" AMAZING tele sound!!!!
