There's a fan wiki for a lot of the questions. Yes HP can go over 6. You also get a bonus 4vp when fighting the Guardian - it's written on the wilderness board.
It took us a while to figure out how/why to use dice - they are nice markers if cards start comboing off of each other, like raise level of the hero to 2, that takes up the spell by 1, you can just put dice on the corresponding spots to not have to remember, and then just count it up :)
I did Barricades with no regret. I really love the game. The coop and solo rules are solid. My daughter hates competitive games so TSQ-Barricades is a delight for us to play.
I first heard of iron rations while playing AD&D. They were rations that would not spoil.

Love the game but it is so much stuff with all the quests. All the quests don't add much more just more variability when playing.
