I'm inclined to watch the build videos more than the running ones , I watch them all , and I run mine , but would never fault you for not tearing it up. My first run out with my monster beetle ,I broke both mirrors off.
I agree with Darren. This looks absolutely superb! The silver really makes it pop! As a viewer, I appreciate all the running videos and all the editing and such that goes into them. I just really feel for you having to clean the car back up when your all done after you spent so much time on assembly.
The monster beetle is number 1 for me in the trio then the blackfoot followed by the mud blaster, excellent job looks so good I'm liking how you do the driver figure? my monster beetles don't have driver figures in them yet and I'm thinking that's the way to go👍
Nice job. I just recently built my first two Tamiya rc cars. The Subaru Impreza '99 Monte Carlo Rally car and the Toyota Yaris rally car. I was really impressed with the quality of the parts and how easily they went together. Two of the most fun models I've built.
Yes I agree the Hardbodies are so much more involved but are much more fun and look great once all the effort has been put in as we can see from this awesome finish from Glen's Beast - cant wait to do mine , Cheers and thanks glen for the great Video , Will look great amoung the rest of the collection .
I sure do love to see them run😍. Maybe there's a runner shell and tires kicking around in your basement? Monster trucks do drive well on the soft cushiony lawn... And monster truck tracks are just a back and fourth with one jump😉. You sure did a fantastic job, it is a stunner!
Fabulous film Glenn, she’s looking Fizzin and you did the right thing with the silver. Perfect. Also agree with you re bashing just for TH-cam, lots of effort that could be destroyed in an instant. Cheers Glenn. 👍🏻😊
Good morning Glen!!! I absolutely loved this!! Now I gotta go back to my beetle and do the silver outlines!! Thanks buddy! : ) can’t wait for the running video! Thanks
This was my first rc car when I was a kid. I bought it from a boot sale in bits. Was missing the front steering rods I remember which was a pain to find as there was no TH-cam or internet
Great job, Glen 💯👌Monster Beetle nr1 for me. Because the rear trailing arms and rear motor is more scale for a beetle body. A Black Foot nr1 would be the Super Black Foot with conventional rear suspension.
After a very bad taste in month from an M-06, I decided not to buy another Tamiya, unless they re-issue the very early glorious onroad models from the 70's through 81/82'ish, that is, of course. However, after I built an XR311 (only the chassis so far), I thought I would give it another try and ordered a Monster Beetle Black Edition from Tamico. Still waiting for it to be delivered to my house (it cleared the US custom) and I will have to complete the body of the XR311 first, but I have a feeling that I will enjoy the build of this kit. Your video gives me quite a few tips and thank you for that.
@TamiyaLegends, great video. Loving the Monster Beetle finished mine a few weeks back, painted it Metallic Red and Pearl Clear, looks great. The hole at the front, I put the sticker underneath and filled the hole with putty before painting. Yours looks awesome, I think the number plate stickers are on the wrong ends, maybe wrong. 😀
Glenn I am like you. I love taking our cars to our local BMX track but equally like running them on an old industrial park with lots of flat loose areas.
Great job Glenn. I finished the build (not painted it yet) on mine a few weeks ago - only run it a couple of times on grass and keep flipping it(!) - which rips the wing mirrors off.... I’ve ordered a second shell - as I want a painted and stickered-up runner (and decided against a lexan second shell for this purpose - although that may have been a mistake....) - but I know I’ll roll it and mash the body slightly - so it’ll be nice (albeit extravagant!) to have a mint shell for the shelf. I’ve got an mip ball diff which I haven’t fitted yet - only running a standard motor so far, but might swap between the torque tuned and sports which I’ve got lying around to see the differences and whether the mip diff makes a difference too. Keep up the good work - although I blame you entirely for ruining my bank balance - seeing these cars on your channel is so nostalgic and I can’t help buy the cars I used to pine for after you’ve featured them!
You mentioned iconic spotlights on Tamiya models and I was surprised you didn't mention the Monster Beetle. They are so 👌👌👌 and really set it off. Personally I prefer the black window frames because the gold wheels pop that bit more but I understand why you did it that way. Good job 👍
Absolutely beautiful car - love the Monster Beetle! My mate got one ( which is mine now), but I also wanted the Blackfoot more, but it was too expensive for me, so I ended up with the Midnight Pumpkin .
Looks great Glenn, I’ve found that tyre foams are a great mod for monster trucks to stop them rolling over. The body kit is basically the same as the re re sand scorcher. The extra kit clear light lenses can be fitted and look much better but it means cutting the centres out of the solid plastic rear lights. 👍🏻
looks great, this is when you need a runner shell but the hard bodies are a big chunk of the kit. I really want to see it run though and hear how the diff holds up

I was lucky enough to have had a Monster Beetle back in the day and it was awesome fun. However they do roll quite easily so be prepared for paint damage. At least the re-re is red plastic so not as noticeable as white scratches showing through from the white shell from the early vintage beetles. Have fun!!!
It look great but needs the beading just below window and bonnet shut lines painted silver. Also wiper blades are usually black!! Great truck. Mine rolled over within seconds but has to be used as a basher!
What a great looking monster beetle. Ok that one the super shot and the fox are the only Tamiya cars that come with gold wheels if I missed any let me know.
Love it! Silver trim looks great. Monster Beetle just edges out the Blackfoot for me. Geez I’d hate to see you crack that shell at the Arena but in saying that I’m curious to see how it would go.
Great looking Monster Beetle, after all your hard work I would hate to see you roll it and scratch it. Could you run it with an old shell, then it wouldn't matter if you rolled it. Keep up the good work. 😎👍
You did a magnificent job on this body but mine I am going to pain it different and only sticker I'm going to be putting on it is just monster beetle I'm going to be putting the roof Cage with the lights and I'm getting the after market front bumper back bumper with the lights and Willie bar I am painting mine black and copper I love those 2 colors together but thank you for this video
That thing looks amazing!!! To me also the Blackfoot is the king and I agree with the order you put the rest in but I would love to get the whole collection these days as they are all so cool in there own way.. I think I would prefer the lose track to run it on and just go easy on the jumps, there is too much grip on the tarmac wich helps to flip these cars

Hi, Glenn. Would like to know, how you painted this Beetle. Do you paited it with red and then clear coated it?? Or you only put clearcoat over the red platic shell ??? Thanks, love you videos.👍👍
Beautiful build. The Monster Beetle is definitely in my top 3 favorites. I restored my original in like 2013 which got a little pricey then a few years later they re-released her which I purchased to be my basher. The only thing that I didn’t like about the Re-release MB was the missing rear window which made no sense to me still to this day. The only thing I can think of is how hard it would be to differentiate between the vintage and repo?
This was my first hobby-grade RC back in '87(?), although mine came with the yellow blackfoot wheels and not the chrome gold ones it's famous for. Does this release have the OG crappy hexagonal dog bones?
Hi Glenn, is there any reason the ReRe Monster Beatle does not have the rear window. I had one when they came out , and I remember having a rear window.

Short of wrapping the whole body in bubble wrap and not jumping I'm not sure what you could do to avoid scratching, maybe bluetack blobs in strategic rollover hotspots? Experienced the same in the past but reversed,blackfoot/monster beetle lol, twas like wacky races back then with the people I knew!:)
When I was building mine I had a problem with the front spotlights not lining up straight since the screw is only held on one side it seemed to pull the lights outwards. Wondering if you had this issue with yours? Also seemed that the side lights wouldn't screw fully closed around the metal bar.. I would definitely not run that on the bmx track, I'd want to keep that body pristine.
This looks too good for the arena track! I'd hate to see that gorgeous shell get destroyed. Some light duty grass running, or a side hill is all we need to see.

Have a look at the MCI Racing website 😊👊🏻
