Mr. Sanyal is hitting the nail on its head. As a person who has worked in the government, I really appreciate his understanding of the issues and efforts to iron out the wrinkles. Keep it up Mr. Sanyal! But the real success is not in doing a few reforms like the ones you mentioned (even though they are useful) but in creating a culture of cleaning and replicate that across all states. Believe me the rot that exists is wide spread and complicated. One of my seniors went to attend a problem on a IBM machine in 1982. He did is job and reported to his boss. He asked bosses permission to allow him to clean up the machine of cowwebs and dust that had accumulated on it. The boss sternly warned him NOT to attempt it as that may open a Pandora's box that their company may not be able to manage. This really is the approach of all senior government officers. As a result a lot of rot survives. Kudos once again!

Taxation relief is good as long as our country can afford as stated. Next thing required is abolition of control over temple as the donations given by the believers are used for other religions welfare . Our country can afford without touching the donations given to temples.

I gone to RTO office to get my new car registered and get the RC card a month ago, When leaving i asked the system guy when will i get the card since no info was given? He literally said, You'll get your paper when you give the required paper (bribe), he could have spit in my face instead of saying this.
Modi should go after these bureaucrats in all offices

    1. We can build ship building industry. Thousands of jobs will be created.
    2. Defense industry should be given a boost and hunt for exports
    3. Electronics manufacting needs a lot of effort.
    4. EV industry can create export opportunities.

Easy to do judicial reform woth simple non controversial reforms
    1. Digitize all legal docs and case papers. Make true copies obsolete and demand original only at the point of execution of judgement.
    2. If all courts are online then court premises can be expanded easily. Evening courts in school buildings and empty govt offices can be temporarily set up to address backlog of cases
    3. Retired judges and more lawyers can be recruited on contract to address backl9g and cases with sentences under say 5 years
    4. Execute the order to release undertrials on bail who have served over 50% of the sentence for crimes accused. This will also de congest prisons and make our judi iary seem more humane
The backlog has to be finished or reined in for any credibility to begin to get restored in this utterly broken and unaccounatable judicial system. Our judiciary and beauraucracy compete on being the most embarrassingly dysfunctional arms of a modern state. And we can never aspire to be agreat country with the level if cynical corryption and absence 9f accountability that these two arms of the state enjoy.

Thank you (government) for accepting that our cities are filthier. All construction companies building flyovers, roads etc throw their trash along roadside and don’t bother to clean it up. They create so much dust pollution, a simple water spray will settle the dust and later cleanup the dust, which they don’t do. 20mm thick dust lying along the roads. Are there any laws for construction companies? Why are they not fined for making our ( tax payer) roads dirtier. My constituency MP is Prahlad Joshi ( Hubli) who doesn’t care about people’s health of his constituency. If this continues there will be many lung disease patients in my city.

The middle class parents take pride in their children starting with a starting pay cheque which is possibly more than parents after two decades of working. This is paying national dividend

Sanjeev has become economic adviser but in that capacity, he has not advised the PMO strongly enough about the deleterious effects of addiction in India's society. Especially in the middle class. After 3 decades of liberalization, we see a sustained uptick in consumption patterns that suggest the middle class itself is increasingly veering towards instant gratification, irrespective of the economic realities around them.
This has profound downstream effects, especially when one takes into account the fact that this new "gratification overdrive" doesn't discriminate according to gender.
India wishes to preserve a certain way of life that unlocks human potential, and therefore we are on a collision course with the oligarchs and protectionists of the world, whether we like it or not. More importantly we are up against a zero sum thinking : Mayhem here helps strengthen hegemony there. And this needs to be countered effectively, in thinking and in action.

Mr. Sanyal's dream and efforts are praiseworthy. However, for past 10 years India's progress and achievements though noteworthy falls short (very much fall short) of a $10 Trillion target. Major points to note in this respect is the India's continued 'Import economy' as opposed to 'export economic growth'. Continued high inflation is an impediment to this target. Deregulation though progressive, high corruption in all sectors including Govt bureaucracy need to be checked. More money need to put into education and applied research sector.

@@hrp4566 Don't just throw around the word corruption willy-nilly. That's the nature of any company... to maximize profits. Only if they see returns, atleast in the future, they will invest in any sort of R&D. In countries like US the local corporations get market protection from foreign companies and may also get subsidized if they want to invest in future tech. The recent stargate project announcement by the trump administration is one such example of future tech being subsidized by the govt.

Budget now-a-days is a fun in India. Suck middle class to produce road, bridge, airport for rich and no need to think for population controll, no equality in education, no drinking water and normal water, no good school, no creation of good teacher - only talk. Good luck that Indians has real patience. Slowly getting finished and watching self destruction - politicians are enjoying.

Why don’t they build good old age homes of all ranges of their aging or retired old employees of their own?

If our govt wants to avoid middle income trap they should work on people s minimum income generation program through education and banking reforms in which average household should have no worries for their generation s future?and in case of R&D not only government and private private companies but single private players must be allowed and helped through innovation and parents in the field of not only industry but education also?
