@@fireplacegamingYT Mate, you're not far off. We absolutely love pies in Yorkshire, and they do honestly come in all sizes. When they said the second most important ingredient in the pie was the meat, I knew the first was pastry. We often have hot savoury pies with mushy peas. As for potatoes, we call them Taters, but Tatties is a legitimate deviation. Couple of regional bits I spotted. The cooling towers you see in the background are a reference to the old Tinsley Towers, which have since been demolished. There's also the famous "I love you, will u marry me" graffiti from Park Hill flats.
This sounds lovely, I'll be heading to the UK sometime this year maybe I can drop by Yorkshire and try those savoury pies. Thanks for the interesting trivia!
there is a tv show based on where I'm from and once someone said "i don't find it funny at all" and I said "it's not funny... it's just true!" i'll have to check out this game
Yorkshire lad here. The thick Yorkshire accent tends to be an older generation and more rural area thing. In saying that we do enjoy sliding into the accent fully on occasion for a fun ‘is tha rhyt’ (is they right? - are you alright? - how are you?)
As someone that lives in Yorkshire and i can say “ay lad its right good init” but fr its the funniest game iv played in years i wish we could get more games like this cus i cant remember the last time a game made me laugh soo hard i had to take a break due to laughing soo much. The sut coming out of the fireplace joke for example killed me the 3rd time it happened such a well written joke
As a British person, I can say with 100% certainty. This game is 100% accurate, we do explode cows, make dogs out of sausages and deep fat fry our children.
Having a bit of experience in the industry the inconsistent audio quality is most likely due to how the voice actors were hired. Large AAA studios will have studio time where VAs come in to record their lines, but for a smaller dev they probably hired online and allowed the VAs to record lines off their own equipment at home.
I think you should definitely consider watching “don’t hug me I’m scared” This games ending is really similar to how they sing, plus it is a very weird show
Another amazing game set in Scotland? The game is set in Yorkshire. Everything in the opening is in Barnsley. The bus is a Yorkshire Corporation bus going to Barnsley. The building says Barnsley on it. It's set in Yorkshire
Ah, apologies for the misunderstanding, when i mean “another game set in Scotland” i meant to say “another game set in the UK but now in Scotland.” I do say that it’s based in Yorkshire when i talk about the humor though!
I didn’t grow up in Yorkshire, but I did grow up in rural Wales and England, and when I watched Jackscepticeye (and RTGame) play it, I recognised the humour, the people, the towns, the views 😂😂
Depending on when the voices were recorded this was quite likely developed during quarantine, which a lot of games have experienced sound quality issues from it. Even Baldur’s Gate 3 has some instances where the mic quality drops because they were recording from home.
From south England but still get most if not all the subtle references, I saw rt play 2 minutes before closing the video and immediately buying the game, I have never laughed so hard at a game ever. I will also just list a few of my favourite jokes such as the milk snatcher written around and the witch is dead (referencing Margaret thatcher), Meggs is a clear reference to Greggs, all thing peas beans and fish and chips and the beer is what I can remember off the top of my head. This game really is 10/10 it sets a small goal and fits it perfectly.
Hold on, wtf? "Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?" is a Monty Python quote?! I haven't revisited it as an adult, so I know the line from a social media post about the spread of coconut palms on different tropical islands.
I didn't watch the video yet, and so here's my thing: I have beaten the game, it is, indeeed good. But does it worth that much? No. The price is TOO BIG for a game which is too long for a demo and too short for a game. Some characters weren't even seen outside the cutscenes. For example, the small pie guy was introduced only in cutscenes
Translation for "A tha from tarn? " = "Are you from town?"
I'm from Northern England and this game looks hilarious.
Ye cin take lad outta Yorkshire, but cenna take Yorkshire outta lad

i'm actually british myself and i genuinely cannot understand a lot of what they're saying (im a brummie with a lincs accent) but oh well
@@koiyune Yorkshire lad here. Gotta love the Brummie accent!
I'm from the region that inspired the setting for the game.
This game is exactly what growing up in the 90's and 2000's, in South Yorkshire, was like.
Please tell me that there is truly an obsession with big and small pies, and that I can continue calling potatoes “tatties” in my head

If you want a couple of good Yorkshire suggestions. Harrogate and York are beautiful.

Do the flowers have faces in the real Britain
Yes they do
But we don’t eat crumpets that’s the only lie they tell
as a person who was forced to live here, yes they do
as a british person, there’s only some types that have crumpets tea and bad teeth. other than that, we normaller
Not full faces but they do have - two lips

Man what a throwback, that show was a fever dream
Best thing to come out of Yorkshire since the M62.

That game gave me the same feeling as Nigel the tiny wizard, both are so British it's funny
I've been wondering if a game like this could exist and then this video landed right in my recommendations. This looks awesome!
This game feels like the amazing world of gumball.

Absolutely loved this game! Very British, very short, very much recommended!

I can confirm that whenever we want meat in Britain, we have to traverse through the meat dimension.
Great video, subscribed!
Smiling Friends NEEDS to make a game like this.
They even had Matt berry to be a Voice actor to one of the Characters.
I really appreciate the English subtitles in this game
Good video bro, I hope you grow more
I think one of the weirdest and coolest things is that Matt Berry is in the game for some reason

Honestly I loved this game so much that when I finished it I got kinda sad. I hope we get more games like this in the future!
This game was so fun. I wish britain was real.
As a Yorkshire lad, who now lives in Nottinghamshire i can confirm the jokes land better if youre from here
And the voices are very exaggerated
Gives of amazing world of gumball vibe
The animation and humor also reminded me of Apple and Onion
For some reason (maybe becuse of the quirkiness of townsfolk) it reminds me of Puzzle Agent.
Hold on, wtf? "Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?" is a Monty Python quote?! I haven't revisited it as an adult, so I know the line from a social media post about the spread of coconut palms on different tropical islands.
Yes, most of the funny people on tumblr have watched and frequently reference Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I would love to see a show of this
The art reminds me of paranoid android
for long story short: yes
“Carnal need to slap”
British untitled goose game
Untitled goose is also set in Britian
The art style reminds me of the old Yogscast animations.
You missed out on "not for broadcast" that is extremely brittish-humor.

The game looks cute, definitely gonna try it!
