This is a great technique to up your game on free motion quilting! lol
It had not occurred to me that marking guidelines or using rulers were actually different methods, I just thought of those as part of free motion quilting. But I can see the distinction. Your use of drawing on the quilt is very cute and effective on your Halloween example. It's adorable.
