I'll always love Shadows of Chernobyl for just how much they accomplished at the time with the gameplay and atmosphere, made such a huge impression on me nearly 20 years ago now. It is always special to me to start out in Cordon and work my way into the Zone. I've never done a villain faction play through, though, one of these days I'll just commit to some Azazel Mode run and try to RP whoever I end up as for as long as I can with them 'til the next death. That will be fun!
@@SoundTrackJ Me either, I've only messed around with it. I wonder what a playthrough would constitute, huh, you'd have to set yourself some kind of goal that takes some survival to accomplish maybe... Like "Get to the Wish Granter with at least 500K and *some specific endgame gear*" I think that would be fun!
I can't imagine why anyone would want to play a visually appealing game like Stalker but obscure half the screen behind a mask overlay... It's like playing the game with a fresnel lens on your monitor!
I love the mask effects during rain and when taking damage to it, and find them to add to immersion, but admittedly I have the mask overlay off right now to see more of the screen for screenshots and videos. This video was recorded in 2.4.1, the mod pack is now over 2.5, it just took me some time to make the music track
I learned about it on a big S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Reddit, it's a guy whose online handle is HayZee. As far as anywhere to read about it or its features, no, I don't think so. It began as an alternative to Anomaly Custom but has changed pretty significantly since its first version, since HayZee ended up remaking it from a fresh Anomaly 1.5.2 install after AC devs DMCA'd his first try because it had a few scripts from Custom and some other elements. I think it intends to have a similar range of features, but doesn't use all of the same mods to get there. It's definitely a "Vanilla +++" experience though, less transformational toward progression and other gameplay focuses than GAMMA for example.
I'll mess with them today, I'm redoing my Reshade too. Not sure if I'm settled on the look I want yet, but having a lot of fun playing while I get it more dialed in.
@@dyfrigshandy this has been a hell of a tip, it reminded me after years of ignoring them that there are other pertinent rendering settings in there and between adjusting them and tuning my Reshade so far I've shaved like 60W off my Reshade through using more efficient in engine tuning. Looking cool too. Working on another video now.
Good music and good choice of do0mstick. Ghost ring sights are the best!
>Start a new HACR run
>Pick Loner, Cordon
>Go straight into the car park for a warm-up
Peak stalker experience.
