You should have discussed the strategy behind spreading the prophecy. Convincing the weak and fearful first and using them to help convince nonbelievers. Not unlike missionaries in our world focus on the poor, vulnerable, uneducated and fearful to spread the message of Christ.
Paul told the Freman he was not the messiah and they decided that is what the messiah would say.
The prophecy was planted in Freman society for future control of the population hundreds of years earlier.
Paul could see multiple possible futures and saw the death and destruction a Freman jihad would bring and he hated it.
Helping the Freman fight their oppressors helped keep Paul and his mother alive while getting revenge.
