In music there are levels and some people can't get on this level; which is fine because like anything subjective, which nearly all music is, this is no different. It's less about the melody of the voice and more about the presentation, feeling, or aesthetic of it. Would you prefer some hokey pop singer or an overproduced and fake metal boi?
@@sandollor I can totally understand why people wouldn’t get on this level. I absolutely adore melodic hardcore, but this is almost too much for me. There’s a certain level of chaos here that you can either appreciate, or you can’t.
@@sandollor personally I would much rather have something "overproduced" lmfao, this is the equivalent of wanting to be "quirky" by doing something different. Just not my cup of tea personally, but I respect people who love converge
@@alexthegs2624 man if you think this is trying to be quirky, then you haven't listened to experimental music at all dude. This kinda just sounds like it's pulling from classic hardcore punk
the drumming here is underrated. love the offbeat rhythm.
The drumming somehow manages to follow the unhinged rhythm perfection

Oh fuck doing lyrics for Jane Doe? Good luck homie.
Thank you for the full lyrics, Lain. How’s the wired?
first converge song I heard. it took me a while to like it hahaha. today I love this band
This LP takes heads and leaves entrails in its wake
Cool to see all these Gen z appreciating this incredible record, I was always raised being called weird for listening to Metalcore/Screamo/Skramz
The greatest love song ever written...
Strangest of this Converge album. Gold tier though. Bands doing their 'strange song' dream of it being at this level.
Masterpiece
Calculating Infinty, We Are The Romans, Jane Doe, Until Your Heart Stops.
this guy gets it. I would also add 0:12 Revolution in Just Listening, and The Process of Self-development to that list.
Coalesce - Give Them Rope
Mount Rushmore of mathcore
3:14 is the best moment on this entire album, incredible musicianship.
Sonic Youth vibes just angrier lol. Silver Rocket all over this man!
yooo never thought about that. it totally does lmao

check out today is the day, that is their direct influence for this sound.

They are def punk influenced.

whoa getting some blood brothers vibes from the vocals
Mastodon had to be influenced by this album to a degree..
Almost positive they were. Saw a Mastodon tour in 06 with Converge opening so mabye.
I doubt it. They were doing almost the same thing by that time on Lifesblood EP. And they are different punk scenes (Boston vs Atlanta).
there's parts of remission that sound like they were lifted straight from this album's recording sessions

The lyrics are very nice to how they are sung, really.
