I had been wondering why Charlie doesn't seem distressed by the suffering of the passerby in her episode 1 song, or make any attempt to help them. Finding out that sinners respawn/regenerate explains it - she knows they'll all recover and that they're used to it, as awful as that is, so she's focused on saving them from permadeath. (We don't see many hellborn demons in this show and I'm very curious about whether Charlie thinks of them as her people as well. Sinners are a fraction of the population, confined to one overcrowded area.)
Those clowns at 22:36 are actually robots modeled after Fizzorolli from Helluva Boss! (Fun Fact: Fizzorolli is voiced by the same Broadway performer who voices Adam and Sir Pentious, BUT he also voices Beetlejuice in the Washington Musical)

There's some straightforward "why is the new kid getting all the attention and praise...when he's probably a metaphorical snake as well as a literal one?!" Then there's the fact that Angel feels like he's not going to be ALLOWED to fully change, even if he wanted to (as you already saw hints of in 'Poison'). And then again there's that SCRIPT he just had to read! As another commenter pointed out, that must have seemed like it was specifically calling him out...and Charlie didn't bother to consult him on it, even though he would be the expert on how those temptations actually work!

She gets angered easily, but she seems to accomplish what she sets her eyes on more than the other two! 😅
The thing about the script that Angel and Pentious read is that it vilified everything that Angel is. He does drugs and has certainly had much sexual intercourse before marriage. Yes he isn’t trying to redeem himself at this point, but Charlie doesn’t seem to understand that someone can be a good person and enjoy ‘not good’ things so why should he even try
He doesn't do drugs because he enjoys them. People do drugs mostly because they are unable to cope with the abuse they went through so their drugs overdose or drinking issues are results of trauma response. And he sleeps around because of his contract with Valentino that obligates him to do this and so that's the lifestyle he knows.

EXACTLY. It’s also acting, which is his whole thing. He actually does take his acting seriously, so it’s gotta hurt that Pentious gets complimented for his acting when none of them have ever acknowledged Angel as an actor. He specifically does cocaine, too, so making him play the role of the villainous “crackhead” has to be humiliating. I think he does actually want to change- the Addict mv (at the end) implied as much, as does Val’s voice when Angel is listening to his voice messages and the smoke comes out. Plus, there’s a pilot prequel comic depicting Charlie recruiting Angel for the hotel where Angel seems honestly taken aback/moved that Charlie apparently saw smth in him that she thought was worth redeeming and chose him to personally invite. Does he believe he could get to heaven? Unlikely, though he may still want it. But I’d argue that the story shows him wanting to change his life and himself for the better and seeing the hotel as a possible chance to do that. He can’t bring himself to be vulnerable enough to admit that he cares about improving, though. Charlie letting on that she no longer thinks of Angel as a “real” guest probably feels like she’s taking back that assurance she approached him with, that Angel could change, and that he was worth changing. Obvs, Angel did all this to himself with his behavior, but it’s easy to feel bad for him, anyway.

Radio _also_ refers to the range of electromagnetic frequencies that form the foundation of _all_ forms of broadcasting technology, *_including television._* Vox thought he was the Next Big Thing, but _everything_ he's built his empire on _belongs to Alastor._ His broadcasting systems, his phones, his drones, the wireless networks Velvette's social media empire depends on... _all of it uses radio waves._ Radio's rarer than television? It's the opposite: radio's _everywhere _*_because_* of television. The irony's so _delicious,_ how could Alastor *_not_* smile about it?
THIS 🥰 So many people forget that electromagnetism is simply a form of energy. Vox, for all his power, is technically only capable of turning his stuff on and pumping out enough juice to keep it running; the only reason he can broadcast anything at all is because Alastor has better stuff to do than to constantly sit there and block whichever frequency Vox happens to be using... 🤣

One of the best parts about the apology bit is that Alastor is creole and very knowledgeable about voodoo. The fact Pentious gave a piece of Alastor back, instead of using bit as a weapon is a big bit. Also likely why he burns it, so it could never be used against him.
FYI, the Love Potion thing wasn't a show. It's a love potion that Velvette made out of Valentino's pheromones. You'll see someone attempt to use it in a later episode.

Regarding the line "Now his medium is gettin' bloody rare" from Stayed Gone, there is a third meaning that is related to the visuals. When Vox states this line, he is holding up a deer head. Vivienne Medrano has stated that Alastor was killed by a hunter that mistook him for a deer. This is also why his demonic form that was shown at the end of this song was similar to the Wendigo. The Wendigo is a Native American monster that is a carnivorous deer.
Another reason the "medium is getting bloody rare" line is good is because Alastor is literally modelled in the form of a deer as well, and Vox has a deer head on a plate
Stayed Gone was my introduction to Hazbin Hotel when Annapantsu did a cover... Then my boyfriend sent my the original video, and we both fell straight down the rabbit hole after that.

It's a blink and you'll miss it thing, but there's a theory that the red stuff that's always coming from Val's mouth is what it's primarily made of and that his saliva is a kind of aphrodisiac. Like I said, not spoilers, but still some kind of important info for going forward. The posters are probably for all the vees businesses since they share a building.
Vox and Valentino remind me of Andraelphas and Stella. Val and Stella are both like "I wanna kill so badlyyyyy" and Phas and Vox are like "you can kill later."

Does he believe he could get to heaven? Unlikely, though he may still want it. But I’d argue that the story shows him wanting to change his life and himself for the better and seeing the hotel as a possible chance to do that. He can’t bring himself to be vulnerable enough to admit that he cares about improving, though.
Charlie letting on that she no longer thinks of Angel as a “real” guest probably feels like she’s taking back that assurance she approached him with, that Angel could change, and that he was worth changing.
Obvs, Angel did all this to himself with his behavior, but it’s easy to feel bad for him, anyway.

He liked drugs before he started using them to cope, and back in the addict music video he had a box titled "fun stuff" filled with sex toys, crossed out to say "work stuff". He uses himself being a sex icon as an escape from the reality of how his sex life is in the poison mv too, showing he geniuenly enjoys all this but he can't actually enjoy it because of Valentino.

The mistake Vox made was in thinking 'radio' only refers to 'that thing in your first car that never worked properly'. Radio _also_ refers to the range of electromagnetic frequencies that form the foundation of _all_ forms of broadcasting technology, *_including television._*
Vox thought he was the Next Big Thing, but _everything_ he's built his empire on _belongs to Alastor._ His broadcasting systems, his phones, his drones, the wireless networks Velvette's social media empire depends on... _all of it uses radio waves._
Radio's rarer than television? It's the opposite: radio's _everywhere _*_because_* of television. The irony's so _delicious,_ how could Alastor *_not_* smile about it?

When you watch future episodes with Valentino, keep a sharp ear on his voice! I didn't notice right away, but you can sometimes hear squeaks -- specifically like those a moth makes. Pretty clever detail imho.

You’re right. It’s a great idea to get broadway talent because they train their voice. Corporations don’t really care about that. They knowingly hire celebrities instead because that’s what makes the most money. It’s just a bonus if they can sing most of the time.

One of the best parts about the apology bit is that Alastor is creole and very knowledgeable about voodoo. The fact Pentious gave a piece of Alastor back, instead of using bit as a weapon is a big bit. Also likely why he burns it, so it could never be used against him.

Regarding the line "Now his medium is gettin' bloody rare" from Stayed Gone, there is a third meaning that is related to the visuals. When Vox states this line, he is holding up a deer head. Vivienne Medrano has stated that Alastor was killed by a hunter that mistook him for a deer. This is also why his demonic form that was shown at the end of this song was similar to the Wendigo. The Wendigo is a Native American monster that is a carnivorous deer.
Another reason the "medium is getting bloody rare" line is good is because Alastor is literally modelled in the form of a deer as well, and Vox has a deer head on a plate

Not spoilers: the love potion poster is for an actual love potion which is a collaboration between Velvette and Valentino. It's a blink and you'll miss it thing, but there's a theory that the red stuff that's always coming from Val's mouth is what it's primarily made of and that his saliva is a kind of aphrodisiac. Like I said, not spoilers, but still some kind of important info for going forward. The posters are probably for all the vees businesses since they share a building.
