The same people who want wolves released, are the same people who are against hunting mammals with dogs. Truth is, this the most natural way of controlling animal numbers.
Don't be silly, wolves wouldn't choose a strong fit stag and chase him for hours to exhaustion. They'd go for a calf or injured deer. Bateson's research revealed that deer are not well adapted to long chases and the suffering and damage caused by the extreme exertion is as damaging as being hit by a car. Also deer numbers are not going to be controlled by taking out trophy stags. It's pure selfish blood sports.
@NorthDorsetHuntSaboteurs i agree in part, that targeting prime stags is not the way to control the deer population, and also not the way wolves would do it. The issue is, if they ran dogs on fawns or pregnant does as wolves would, people would still cry cruelty. I'm genuinely interested in your point of view on this, as I come from a background in hunting dogs, but understand much of it has become about ego and sport, and not about putting food on the table.
@@paddydoyle4234 stag hunting only happens in South West England. If deer need managing it should be done by qualified stalkers for minimum suffering and disruption. There is no need for deer to be chased and terrorised. If you watch some of our other videos they also chase the deer with quad bikes and other off road vehicles. It's a strange one. Stag hunters claim that farmers only allow the deer on their land so they can be hunted, and if stag hunting was banned the farmers wouldn't tolerate them and would wipe them out. So they are only kept around for the sport. Surely the deer can't be causing damage if a farmer is happy for them to be there just so that a single stag can be hunted once or twice a season.... it just doesn't make sense...
@@NorthDorsetHuntSaboteursA.pack of wolves would indeed give chase if they spotted potential prey injured or not ,,, a Wolves stamina is like no other , working as a team if one at front slows another will pick up the pace until their prey is exhausted..
