So I decided to give this a try this morning, and WOW! I immediately hooked up with two giants, but I didn't give them long enough to take it. Once I engaged my reel and let them run with it I caught a 4 and a 3 pounder! Thanks Randy for giving me this tip. I used a 3/16th Oz weight. I'm 100% convinced now. They wouldn't bite on anything else. I feel like I can catch the bigger fish in the little lake I bank fish now
Randy, Here in hot and very dry southeast Iowa, the "big worm" is all I have been able to get bit on the last month. They really work great and have been my no-skunk bait. I appreciate you so much. Bless you and your family!
In hot water, I believe Bass, especially the lunkers, are very lethargic. But, since the water is hot, there metabolism is elevated making them require more food. A SLOW MOVING monster worm is the perfect bait for this scenario. Bass think they can get a big meal with little effort. Has worked very well for me over the decades! Great vid!!
I've fished worms a lot but never anything over 9" and rarely anything over 6". I just bought some 12" Jelly Worms and this video popped up. Thanks for the tips.
I gave some a try this morning and I caught a 4 and a 5 pounder. One thing I learned is you have to let them run with it for a while. I engaged my reel and fed out line, then set the hook after about 8-10 seconds. I lost two big ones before I started doing that
Got a 7 lb PB last week on a 10" curly tail worm. Mostly swimming and killing it. 3/16th weight too. Got 7 that day. 4 about 2 lbs. I was in submerged grass fishing grass lines. Perfect timing on the video Randy thanks a million!!
I fish the ol monster very regularly shallow water. They love the big meal for less work. I've recently started using the magnum because of the fatter profile. You can always take an inch or two off if you want or after a few catches. My go to colors. Green pumpkin. Red bug. Junebug. And Cali 420
I’ve applied the smallmouth version of this in late summer- river fishing a 7-8” culprit or power worm style ribbon tail with 1/8 to 1/4 oz weight around wood lay downs.
Hey Randy I'm learning that was some wicked good tips. More key information I think this information would take the average angler a long time to learn . Appreciate you and the things you are doing to help other angler's get better at fishing. GOD bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike.
Seems like I remember a bass where Elias found a stump bed and next day a barge was parked over it and he payed some dock workers to move it with him winning tournament. Anybody else remember this?
I bought a pack of Zoom Ol Monster worms in plum a couple of years ago but have had a hard time believing it would catch fish because of its large size. I'm going to have to give it a try. I'm always amazed when smaller bass bite large baits. I always think that I should be so ambitious.
Good video. 👍🏼 I caught a 4.7lb bass where falling tree left a big hole next to the bank and water little muddy . I used a 10" zoom purple and shad color on belly worm. Same area 5 cast later I caught a 3lb catfish with same warm. 😁👍🏼
On the lake I fish down here in North Carolina, I have seen pictures of 10 plus pound bass caught in the last 5 years on a jig and a worm. The pictures are kind of blurry, but it looks like an old monster on a finesse jig head! I just got a skinny but long 5.6 two nights ago on a green pumpkin old monster with a quarter ounce weight fishing rip rap in about 3 ft of water with about 2 ft of visibility. I have mostly caught smaller fish on the old monster but it definitely gets big bites too!
Great tip Randy, it would be helpful for me and maybe others if you would let us know what species of fish you're catching on these big worms and other lures. Thanks, i am a long time sub, always watch, rarely comment, always enjoy and give 👍🏻.
Hey Randy, good stuff as usual. Just thinking there's probably a good number of viewers who overlook your channel because they like more visual simulation - maybe throw in a fish catch or some demonstration of a retrieve or something. Also, what size/type of hook do you put on a 10 or 12 inch Worm? Always appreciate the content my man!
I've allways fished big 12or 10 inch worms and with good success, but have allways wondered what the bass think there eating snakes earth worms who knows.anyone got any ideas,or have heard from a bass as to what they are thinking
Don't like the color of your sky in this vid. It's green! It means tornado conditions in many parts of the country. I've been in two, one in the truck and one on my grandparents farm. Came out ok in each but never want to repeat the experience.
I’ve lost two houses to tornadoes, the one we live in now in Woodstock Ontario Canada, and the house I lived in in Barrie Ontario when I was ten. They are terrifying, I have wicked PTSD, luckily we survived both, but we lost both houses.
@@oxyfee6486 What's really scary is to be in a big rig with one. We came out unscathed in Indiana but it was picking up other rigs and tossing them like toys. No where to run, all one can do is watch.
@@terrytresemer2864 Wow, that would be scary, thankfully we had cold rooms to hide in, I can’t imagine how it would feel to be stuck in a truck with nowhere to go.

Thank you Randy.

I use those with a Burke lures snake head for catching huge bass over weed mats
Never fished such a big worm!! I’m fishing Ned rigs now gotta try it👍
Randy you ought to put a mini split unit in your Tackle room

I love the ol monster it both sizes, they catch 1-10lb bass just got to let the small ones bite it good!
Thanks. I’m going to run out at lunch time to pick up some monster worms and 3/16 oz sinkers.
Who doesn’t love setting the hook on a double digit bass on a 12” worm in dirt shallow water. 👍🏻
Fished a 10 1/2 inch zoom worm this evening for the first time and caught a fish on it within a few casts.
I always use the 10 inch monsters and have a lot of success esp. near the lily pads....
Randy what style and size hook doe you use with this 12" worm?
That’s how I’ve been catching some tanks lately.
Man…Cabin Creek used to make a 10” paddle tail.
What is your reel gear ratio
are you pegging your weight or letting it slide free? I'm going to try this weekend.
Are you pegging the sinker?
Do you peg that weight?

I assume this is a Texas Rig and what hook do you use?

It ain’t broke, please don’t fix it
I would like to see some fish catches!
Stick to the script. His formula is perfect. Go to the guys that do that, for that.
What type/size of hook do you recommend?
7/0 round bend
Thank you
Yeah, long worms get a lot of bites and catch a ton of fish
