Super cool! I ordered three of these stoves for me and my two kids for Christmas! I’m one step ahead of them now on how to use this sweet stove and I’ll get to show them how it functions! ! Good times, good memories!
I've been using this set for a while and I recommend using this for mostly water. I make ramen, oatmeal, coffee and cook vegetables. Not non stick. I have a little 8" skillet I bought from Walmart for $5 that completes this set for outdoor cooking. The little stove is honestly worth the price and it has an igniter not even the expensive brand name ones have igniters. You can also buy the little stove for less than $10 separately and buy a separate cook kit of your choice.
About 4 yrs ago I got a similar set from wish, for use in a Suzuki Samurai. It was a great purchase, i normally used my MSR Whisperlight (it's now for winter use only). But after trying a few different models of the stoves, My version of this is always in my OMG, I broke down bag. A friend and I were coming back from hunting , and witnessed a car accident. The people were kinda shocky, I quickly made some tea and hot chocolate for them and a few other stoppers. Stayed for the police and ambulance, the paramedics were grateful for keeping the under observation and treatment . The surging is from you rotating it, left still they stay pretty good!
These are sold under various "brand" names for about the same price. Probably made in the same factory in China and branded as per the client's request. I have an identical set sold by the Czech brand Pinguin. But as long as they work, they are a good lightweight choice.
I just got the same pot set (not the stove) under a different brand name for about $15USD, seemes to work fine so far. I have a cheap Chinese stove similar stove burner that I paid about $7 USD , for cheap kit, its fine, for quality kit I will take my MSR etc for the long run.
Sorry to see some people giving you a hard time for trying out products. I admire you because you disclose what you are doing and I like people who do that like you and Les Stroud etc. Too many people from all walks of life telling others half truths or lies of omission. I like Steve and you and others who do reviews that appear and act authentic. Who aren't trying to be someone they are not. 👍 and thanks.
Thank you chris, I appreciate that. I understand that the stuff that people send to me to review were "free", but what (a small part of) the viewers can't seem to understand is that that IS how reviews are generally made. Someone making their first video would probably have to buy their own stuff to review, but now that I've been doing this for five years and have a bit of an audience there are companies that are willing to send me stuff to review. It's not a "payment" or "pay off", just the way things are reviewed. I've mentioned to some people that the restaurant reviews and movie reviews they read or see on TV or the web aren't generally paid for by the reviewers. They are comped, but nobody accuses them of being a sell out. I understand that I'm not a "professional" reviewer, but I do my best to provide as professional a review as I'm capable of. I'm glad that there are more people like you who understand what I'm doing than the minority that simply want a conspiracy theory or just something to complain about.
I'm probably defiantly very late but the way to properly light the burner is to rotate the collar which prevents air from mixing into the gas before lighting the stove this prevents gas from just escaping and possibly creating a fireball, once you have the gas lit you can rotate the collar from safety flame to blue flame/ cooking mode or whatever.
I like how you function test in real time, revealing the issue with the piezo electric ignition. I have a couple of these cheapy stoves and the ignition feature works flawlessly on both. But on one of them, two of those swing out "ears" on the pot supports wouldn't open all the way, preventing the pot from resting completely level. I had to file a little metal in 2 strategic spots to correct the problem. I guess my point is that a lot of what one pays for with the more expensive brands is better materials, better workmanship and - perhaps most importantly - better quality control. But as you and I have discovered, at least some of the deficiencies can be corrected with a little creative fiddling. BTW, I don't have that exact cookset, but do have lots of extra room in mine. Like you I use the extra space for storing the stove and fuel canister, but I've also squeezed in a Bic mini lighter (backup in case the piezo ever does fail), a bandana (also keeps the contents from rattling), a wind screen made with HD aluminum foil, and a half of a sponge scrubby + dish soap stored in a hotel sized shampoo bottle. The scrubby and dish soap go inside a small ziploc baggy.
tip push the igniter a little bit closer to the burner and it'll work just fine to light it up. however as for a cook set goes I use the Ozark trail 5pc. mess kit with it and the canisters I use are the Coleman propane/butane mixed canisters and I've never had a problem with any of them so far
You know, this is pretty awesome. I could even see the pots being nice in a small apartment, RV, etc, just since those folding handles and stacking like that would free up a lot of space
I've got a Propane Torch that acts the same way. If you turn the gas up to high it will blow out the spark before it lights the gas. Turning down the gas it lights every time. It's also hard to light out side in the wind but if I turn up the gas just slightly more it lights.
Thanks for your video!! Just bought this stove and your review was super helpful. It’s my first stove and so thanks for showing how to use it and the tip at the end was very helpful too!!!
Cooking an egg in an aluminum pan like that is tough.. even on the lowest flame. I've had luck cycling it on and off the flame repeatedly, keeping it well above. Titanium is even worse. Lots of butter helps :) Looks like a decent set for the price. I wonder if rebuild kits are available for the stove? Be careful cranking the valve down beyond where it seals, you may wear it out.
Nice review. It is interesting to see a review of the equipment someone might use instead of just the food. My son has a very similar set ( different and more well-known brand name) that he picked up at his work with his staff discount. Like this set, it has some trouble getting something to simmer, but if you want to get some water boiling in short order it works just fine.
Good tip! The problem I was having with this one was that it was tilted too far from the gas to ignite it. Minor flaw in a super-cheap stove that otherwise worked fine.
Clearly you get what you pay for. The pocketrocket costs 3x as much and while I'm not going that way either you gotta hope there has been some testing and QA. The Microrocket has a separate igniter.
I was feeling kind of bad thinking I was going to have to say it was a complete piece of trash and then thought that since the element was working fine and making a good spark it must be something else. You certainly wouldn't expect to have to push your sparking element closer to the burner (and wouldn't want that to be the case in an expensive camp stove), but it definitely made for a simple solution that worked just fine!
I get the stove for $3.99 with free shipping and I can get the pot set for $11.00 with free shipping from China. Don't mind the wait one bit since I resell them for $24.99. $39.99 with fuel bottle and free shipping inside the USA. Cha Ching!!
Nice cooking setup for a nice price. Well it's great egg didn't stick, but it's too narrow for an egg I guess that's why it need's flipping. Thanks for the review. Asger
not bad for $20.00 but durability is the question? his site sounds like the web version of odd or big lots, if so it might be worth checking out once and a while? you can occasionally find a deal there. never have been crazy about those piezo sparkers anyway, seems like every lighter you get with one won't work after you refill the damn thing the first time much rather se a flint sparker!
Not too shabby for about $25 bucks eh? Id kinda be reserved about using a stove of unknown origin since that stuff can go horribly wrong but I doubt its any worse than the generic brands you can get from camping stores vs the more expensive but higher quality name brand stuff.
no matter what brand have cheap working same than expensive, only idiot waste lot money camping gears because all same parts can buy lot cheapen, etc, mini gas stove gost amazon ower 20$ anb shipping 25$ totally same stove same factory make, cost aliexpress 6$ and FREE shipping, same bowl, fry pan, kettle have all have same factory parts but different price different shop. i buy this bowl, frypan, kettle set whit sponge, cooking tools 14 pcs setup, 20$
Thanks for the video and the explanation, found this video after I order this product already. Although, I bought the pots without the fire stove, for around $9.5. Anyway, do you know if you can use it over a bonfire?
I couldn't say for sure, but I don't really see why you couldn't. Considering how hot the flame from the stove can get it doesn't seem like having it over a fire would be a problem.
the stove isn't a dud the only thing you have to do with the igniter is move it a little bit closer to the burner and it'll light up just fine I have the same exact stove that I use on my propane/butane canisters and it works really well
I knew someone would mention the scraping sounds! I was going to use a plastic MRE spoon, but was afraid it would melt. Only other option I had was the metal mess kit fork and I didn't realize how bad of an idea it was until it started making all that noise! But, it didn't scrape the finish at all--believe it or not!
That's pretty cool. More durable than I expected then, though I can't image the coating would hold up well to repeated use at that price point, but that's still a cool lil gadget. Thanks for the reply.
That's a very good point I hadn't thought of. Whether the stuff works at all, how well-made it seems to be and the price point are all things to take into consideration, but in the end it IS a cheap no-name product and who knows what the long-term health effects could be from whatever cheap coating they may have put on there...
I thing I mentioned it in the video, but it was simply a matter of the igniter being just a bit too far from the propane stream. All I had to do was press it slightly closer and it worked fine!
I don't know if there's a "correct" way to clean it. I basically just used hot water and dish detergent. I'm not sure if its dishwasher safe or not. Not really sure why it WOULDN'T be, but since it's a cheap product from overseas I figured I'd play it safe and not put it in the dishwasher.
I bought one of those a couple of years ago. My only issue with it is that the material is not a non-scratch surface. So if you use a metal (fork, spoon, etc) on it it can scratch pretty easily. Otherwise, it's fine for car camping or picnics.
I'm kind of thinking of doing something like that. I can't really afford the really good, high quality equipment. It might be good to showcase some cheaper alternatives and see if it's worth the savings.
Nice review, but that is a cheap stove. flame pattern was erratic as well as the control. There's a reason the MSR's and the like are priced the way they are.
This is why gshill9 will never be a great as steve he doesnt sell out his viewers to crap products like this. yeah really looking forward to that utensil multi tool from china warehouse prices . come
not everything from Asian countries are crap and primus isn't all that popular and great like you think it is idiot don't knock other products when you have never tested them out yourself
Good question. I might have to see if I can dig it out to check. I think a 500ml container might be just a bit too big to fit in there, but I guess it would depend on the shape of the canister.
Super cool! I ordered three of these stoves for me and my two kids for Christmas! I’m one step ahead of them now on how to use this sweet stove and I’ll get to show them how it functions! ! Good times, good memories!

That's a very good suggestion about limiting the use of something like this for heating water. Thank you for the insight!
About 4 yrs ago I got a similar set from wish, for use in a Suzuki Samurai. It was a great purchase, i normally used my MSR Whisperlight (it's now for winter use only). I'm sure that's exactly the case.
I bought one of these recently, it only cost £16:58. I have seen it used a number of times so had a good idea of how it worked. Great value.

Great ideas for filling up as much of the extra space as possible!

I've got the stove and, for the price (£5-11 including delivery), it's brilliant.
The Piezo ignition works fine on mine.
Where did you buy yours from?
Based on the dimensions posted, it would seem that the smaller bowl would slip inside the larger one to work as a double boiler. That might be handy.
Make some chocolate ganache in the bush:P
You know, this is pretty awesome. I could even see the pots being nice in a small apartment, RV, etc, just since those folding handles and stacking like that would free up a lot of space
I’ve just been gifted this exact set in a Summer Secret Santa with my friends, and your review is really helpful. Thanks!
Looks like a cool-set that was modeled after Esbit's CS985HA design, but using a propane burner instead of solid fuel/alcohol.
Bought this on Amazon and I love it. It's worked well so far!
That egg looked perfectly cooked to me; I love it when they're brown and crispy on the bottom :)
Seek professional help.
good tip about the igniter.
Don't use a fork on the non stick pan :/ eeeek my mom would kill me
Your mom raised you well !
I bought a set to throw in my saddlebags for motocamping, it works just fine for what I need it for and very cheap.
I just got mine today and have the exact problem as yours. I’ll try it again in the morning.
Cooking an egg in an aluminum pan like that is tough.. even on the lowest flame. I've had luck cycling it on and off the flame repeatedly, keeping it well above. Titanium is even worse. Those pots are huge!! I'm roughly 182 cm tall (6 ft). You must be a giant for them to look so small in your hands like that! 😂
I never mentioned before that I'm fifty feet tall! Yeah, that was a little metric mistake!
nice video you should have shown that the tank and stove fit inside the pot perfectly taking up very little space in a pack
Nice review. It is interesting to see a review of the equipment someone might use instead of just the food.

3:30 Milimeters (mm) not centimeters (cm). :)
I got one of these for work, it's a good bit of kit.
Those piezo ignitions work better if you have the gas on really low. Too fast and it won't light ;)
Good tip! The problem I was having with this one was that it was tilted too far from the gas to ignite it. Minor flaw in a super-cheap stove that otherwise worked fine.
Yes i watched it to the end. Just throwing my 2 pence in :)
Clearly you get what you pay for. The pocketrocket costs 3x as much and while I'm not going that way either you gotta hope there has been some testing and QA. The Microrocket has a separate igniter.
i oren just today same bowl, but has different set up, bowl, fry pan, kettle has 21$ i has burner before.
Interesting. Yes, there seem to be many variations on what you can get with these types of sets.
Quite savvy of you to figure out the issue with that burner!
I was feeling kind of bad thinking I was going to have to say it was a complete piece of trash and then thought that since the element was working fine and making a good spark it must be something else. You certainly wouldn't expect to have to push your sparking element closer to the burner (and wouldn't want that to be the case in an expensive camp stove), but it definitely made for a simple solution that worked just fine!
great review, nice change of pace. hope you do more of these type reviews :)

Asger
I just bought one of these turned up but they didn't add the stove
I just ordered one of these with out the stove I payed $13.85 I really like the peak1 stove it's alittle heavy but works really good
I like the yolk runny, I would have been fine with it as done
Some people say if u use it a little time it will get leak
Does it come in a box all beaten to shit like that?
I guess if you need to go cheap to get into something then looks good.
Can you put a link to the utensil set? (The one with the knife and fork and spoon and corkscrew ) thanks
not bad for $20.00 but durability is the question? his site sounds like the web version of odd or big lots, if so it might be worth checking out once and a while? you can occasionally find a deal there. never have been crazy about those piezo sparkers anyway, seems like every lighter you get with one won't work after you refill the damn thing the first time much rather se a flint sparker!
Is it available on Amazon???
What is the biggest size canister that will fit inside, Great video by the way Ill be sure to drop you a thumbs up
Not too shabby for about $25 bucks eh? Id kinda be reserved about using a stove of unknown origin since that stuff can go horribly wrong but I doubt its any worse than the generic brands you can get from camping stores vs the more expensive but higher quality name brand stuff.

I bought mine from Stealth Angel for $30. A little more than advertised from other sellers.
Still a pretty good deal though. How did it work for you?
Excellent review, thank you. I had never heard of Lightake before.
Thanks for the great review. Would you recommend for a lightweight hiking pack?
How long does the fuel tank last when cooking
I like For me it’s good. Cheap and practice
Thanks for the video and the explanation, found this video after I order this product already.
Although, I bought the pots without the fire stove, for around $9.5.

good vid. I actually have the same but I need the stove bought it on ebay now I need the stove
Good effort for first go using that stove.
How much does it weight?
Sir your going to mess up your pots with the metal fork use a wooden spatula
You got the Dimensions in Metric wrong, i guess those are mm, not cm. 1inch = 2.54cm
Oops, yup. That was a mistake! Yeah, that would be huge!
Thanks for the review. So basically the pots are a go and the burner a dud?
It looked like that at first, but I was able to get the igniter to work in the end. Not perfect, but pretty good.
the stove isn't a dud the only thing you have to do with the igniter is move it a little bit closer to the burner and it'll light up just fine I have the same exact stove that I use on my propane/butane canisters and it works really well
How well did the 'non stick' coating hold up after being gouged with your metal fork while flipping the egg?
I knew someone would mention the scraping sounds! I was going to use a plastic MRE spoon, but was afraid it would melt. Only other option I had was the metal mess kit fork and I didn't realize how bad of an idea it was until it started making all that noise! But, it didn't scrape the finish at all--believe it or not!
That's pretty cool. More durable than I expected then, though I can't image the coating would hold up well to repeated use at that price point, but that's still a cool lil gadget.
Thanks for the reply.
I wonder what kind of cheap (and unhealthy?) coating that is.
Teflon?
That's a very good point I hadn't thought of. Whether the stuff works at all, how well-made it seems to be and the price point are all things to take into consideration, but in the end it IS a cheap no-name product and who knows what the long-term health effects could be from whatever cheap coating they may have put on there...
@@gschultz9 you also factor in that you used stainless utinsles to scratch the coating
Why isn't ignition working ?
I thing I mentioned it in the video, but it was simply a matter of the igniter being just a bit too far from the propane stream. All I had to do was press it slightly closer and it worked fine!
Thank you for the video its like one I have made by Esbit.
Nice review thanks👍
I'm waiting for this cookset, ordered from ali express for less than 8 euros. :))
Hope you enjoy it. I thought it was perfectly serviceable for a cheap set!
Great video!! Love your content! Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
That logo reminds me of the hp logo. Anyway, great video as always. Nice changeup from the usual MRE reviews.
How i clean it correct befor first use?
I don't know if there's a "correct" way to clean it. I basically just used hot water and dish detergent. I'm not sure if its dishwasher safe or not. Not really sure why it WOULDN'T be, but since it's a cheap product from overseas I figured I'd play it safe and not put it in the dishwasher.
you can buy it for 13 cad so about 10 usd on eBay
I bought one of those a couple of years ago. My only issue with it is that the material is not a non-scratch surface. So if you use a metal (fork, spoon, etc) on it it can scratch pretty easily. Otherwise, it's fine for car camping or picnics.
I would definitely agree with that. Suppose it's the "price you pay" to get something so cheaply.
Is the lasagna from the same website?
No, I picked that up at REI.
Got the same one. Works awesome for the price, And packs well
Thank you for the tip! It really helped
You should make a series like this. "Cheap Gear" or "is it worth it?" Also I love your content keep up the great work
I'm kind of thinking of doing something like that. I can't really afford the really good, high quality equipment. It might be good to showcase some cheaper alternatives and see if it's worth the savings.
The pots are quite large... you're after millimeters, not centimeters.
Yup, that was obviously a mistake!
Lasagna and Egg dinner. I don't know about this one.
Looks delicious
Probably similar to chili with eggs
how come no one knows how to do eggs right the yolk should be slightly runny does anyone ells agree
btw I don't mean it in a mean way just what I like
not everyone like everything you like
100cm, that makes a meter. Maybe you mean millimeters
Right about the time the water starts to boil, a piece of tree or a bug falls into it. Never fails. Uhg!
Best video❤️❤️
hey gschultz! I uploaded my first mre video, mind checking it out? maybe give some tips?
I'll check it out! Good luck!
We didn't want a taste test 🤣🤣
its millimeters
It's the wrong sizes.
I don't like aluminium in my food..
you not need eat bowl, hahaha not newer have aluminium in food, and we have home all bowls clear aluminnium not this ,this have coated teflon.
Use it before you review it, please!
2 minutes of info stretched to over 17 minute video. Impressive.
Do a face reveal
WON'T USE ALUMINIUM OR TITANIUM......WITH FOOD AND DRINK. EVER
115 cm would be massive 😂
Nice review, but that is a cheap stove. flame pattern was erratic as well as the control. There's a reason the MSR's and the like are priced the way they are.
Which all goes back to "You get what you pay for."
sellout
jk
This is why gshill9 will never be a great as steve he doesnt sell out his viewers to crap products like this. yeah really looking forward to that utensil multi tool from china warehouse prices . come
This was a review of a product. I'm not the first person ever to do a review of a product.
Scratch that cookware why don't you... =/ lol
Be sure to read lightake review on my blog before you buy. Go to *edwinreviews. com/lightake-com-review/* Thanks. Thayne.
First
Don't carry it and shaking it while igniting, use your common sense.
asia crap !!! don't buy this shiet!!! go for a PRIMUS !!!!!!!!
not everything from Asian countries are crap and primus isn't all that popular and great like you think it is idiot don't knock other products when you have never tested them out yourself
Would a 500ml cannister fit inside the pot?
Good question. I might have to see if I can dig it out to check. I think a 500ml container might be just a bit too big to fit in there, but I guess it would depend on the shape of the canister.
Ok thanks
