Dr Buss would always trade young for old. This is not the same magnitude but it's like the Norm Nixon Byron Scott trade. He called each year left in a players career a chip. Young for old means you get more chips back guaranteed.

What the Mavs know is that Luka has not played 70 games in any season because of soft tissue issues which generally comes from NOT being in shape. Maybe Luka will now take his diet seriously
You trade for an out-of-shape 25-year-old. You think twice about an out-of-shape 30-year-old. Conversely, the Mavs ought to have held on to him, or shopped him around.
This is literally just a lie he played 100 total games last year and he has played 70 games twice in his career and 60 plus games in the the two shortened covid seasons
@. I read that somewhere and assumed it was a fact...sorry! I was trying to justify why the Mavs did this and obviously...he's not been in shape by the way he plays defense. Outside of that....I cant come up with a valid reason to trade him to my Lakers.

Ownership is trying to demoralize their TX fanbase so they can move the team to LV, they didn't want to pay Luka the supermax and they are pressuring the TX legislature into letting them open a casino.
