Great video to demo the effect of different means to strike the drum. The Nova videos, if you look carefully, all use a pickup that amplifies the sound to a speaker. The hand sound is better with a pickup jack attached to an amplifier or speaker. I'm thinking of picking up a felt type mallet. I do have a pair of yarn wrapped mallets which sound pretty good.
Thank you. I am very happy with my drum. That being said, I now realize that most hand drum videos do have a microphone to amplify the sound and make it sound really nice. But I did not realize this until after I got my drum. I tried playing with my hands and ouchie! It definitely takes a lot of skill to play well with the hands. For now I use my different mallets, what a beautiful sound this drum makes 💕
Amazing drum sound!! I subscribe to you! We should do a video together showing our Asian Furniture . I have the same room divider as you except mine is like 15 years old and starting to fall apart but I love it so much. It’s actually in two of my videos. 😂🥰

Hi Sabine. I believe it took two months total after ordering to receive it. I can imagine the wait time is probably longer these days, but I agree it is definitely worth it :-)
Hi, love the video, sound of the drum, and your playing! Came across this when looking up if there were such things as big steel tongue drums as I have a little one and have outgrown it. I was so happy to see that there are big ones and the nova sounds beautifully transcendental. I ordered one last week and wanted to ask you if the big mallets you use came with your nova drum, and if not, where you got those? Thanks!
Hi, thank you so much Tomasz. This big one is wonderful, It has a healing energy and Is a very special drum. The notes on the strum are all chords so the sound is very full and rich. The bigger mallets are used for drums, just regular drums and can be bought at a music store. They did not come with the drum someone gave them to me but from what I understand they are just regular drum mallets :) Let us know if you end up getting a drum and if you post a video of it I would love to see it.

I believe it will resonate much warmer if you put it on a stand of some sort and allow the opening to not be muffled.
