what beautiful colour and suspense! Meastro Aldo controls time in an unheard way, and in doing so brings out a whole new spectrum of this magnificent composition.
Thank you for posting this precious memento of a wonderful pianist. His artistry only grew deeper and richer with age, with no discernible diminution of physical powers. His "late" recordings for the Cascavelle label, in particular the complete Grieg Lyric Pieces, are especially fine, and his last CD "13 Valses" (recorded at age 88!) is extraordinarily lovely. A great artist, whose repertoire was far broader than most people realize.
@sagalat May I remind you that Horowitz's late recordings for DG, made in his mid-late 80s, were uniformly among his best ones. Not to mention his astounding last disc for Sony Classical, all new pieces to his discography and performed more than remarkably for one of 86 years.
Ciao caro Maestro, un giorno da qualche parte avremo modo di parlare ancora di qualche preludio di Debussy... ricordo come fosse ora le tue lezioni di vita, non esclusivamente di musica ! A presto
Grande maestro. Mi hai detto: "la mia religione è la musica." Penso che se avessi usato la musica come mezzo e non come fine avresti cambiato il mondo. Gaetano Di Giorgio
@sagalat Why not? A much more knowledgeable fellows than me have claimed that: Horowitz's biographer and eminent critic Harold Schonberg, for one. I, for another, can't agree more. In all other periods of Horowitz's long career I invariably have favourites and things I don't particularly like; I have only the latter among his late 1980s recordings.
Sublime Aldo Ciccolini qui jusqu'à la fin s'est beaucoup consacré à l'enseignement bien plus qu'à sa carrière.

Tantissimo bravo! Ciccolini sta tra i più grandi pianisti della storia.

Elegant phrasing, deadly accuracy. Some pianists (Aldo) age better than others did (Horowitz, Richter). Nice bling, too. BRAVO MAESTRO!
@Spiritakis: Horowitz' late recordings are Treasures, of course, but why would you claim that they're "uniformly among his best"?
