  • For the 1st time, the Southeast Gassers Association made their way to Farmington Dragway, located just outside of Winston Salem N.C., for an awesome day of old time drag racing. I hope you enjoy the footage, even though some of it is obviously out of sequence. Sorry for that. Enjoy!

    And the cool thing is that these cars don't just sit there looking pretty, they get driven hard and hammered just the way it was meant to be! Love it!

    I love the pix of the cars pre- race, but it was a total drag that your camera wasn't catching the winner/ loser after each race. Didn't mind the out of sequence photography so much as not being able to tell who won each race shown as well as who red- lighted.

    The greatest car ever made in the history of the world in my opinion is the 55 Chevy 210 2 door post.

    Pretty cool! You can tell those folks put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in their cars. Some of the cars are truly a work of art.
    And the girls in go-go boots are a nice touch! LOL!

      I always get this comment on every drag racing video. I use a gopro. It doesn't zoom so you wouldn't be able to see it anyways. Sorry. I just enjoy seeing the cars do burnouts and launch off the line. I could care less who wins. It's just good fun. Thanks for watching

      Thanks! Yes, unfortunately not all the cars made passes while I was there and I didn't film every moment anyway. No brand bias here. I love em all. I did get the Carolina Flash Barracuda at 26:33, 28:53, and 51:38 and the Quick and Dirty Dodge at 46:27 and 48:02. I think those are the only Mopars to run before we left.

    This was a great video . When you started out you showed each car that was fantastic . You showed them Drag Racing that was great . You showed 3 different angles from the starting line . I wish you showed them who won at the end. I missed that part. But And all it was a great video thank you .👍👍👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇸

    Why do Drag Racers choose 55 Chevys over most other cars❓

    • @Carolinaishome
      @Carolinaishome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tri-Five chevy's have always been very popular in hot rodding. But if I had to guess? I would say there are probably more of them still around and so there is a larger selection of companies making hi-performance parts for 55-57's out there than some of the less common cars like MOPAR's. Also, being more common means they are probably a little more affordable than some other cars. But that's just my guess. Plus there was American Graffiti and Two Lane Blacktop! That was a bitchin car!

    • @Carolinaishome
      @Carolinaishome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As I understand it, they cover the one that is on the sunny side to keep both tires at an even temperature for the run. Excessive heat can change the air pressure in that one tire and that my impact their run.

    question; in what gear do they make their burnouts? 4 speed manual. What would be typical used first and second gear and crown pinion size?

    • @Carolinaishome
      @Carolinaishome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would assume 1st gear. As for the rest, I don't know. A lot of their info is on their website.

    • @zacharyhall3935
      @zacharyhall3935 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I drive the green Homegrown 55 Chevy, I do my burnouts in high gear (4th). Most everyone there uses 3rd or 4th because there isn’t enough wheel speed in low or 2nd where we run 5.43-6.50 rear gears depending on combo, class, and ET.

    • @guidorollard2944
      @guidorollard2944 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zacharyhall3935 wheelsize and axle ratio , even if it is a short one, pulling burnout in 4th is huge. Lot of power needed. I can't do with just tiny hopped up 1600 cc LoL

    Thanks for the video...love the SGA format & philosophy. That said, I was saddened to see some crew "holding" cars during the burnout (a la Sesame Street Outlaws). This is an unnecessary and dangerous practice that will eventually result in injury and/or death, and lawsuits against the track and SGA itself. Personally, I feel if you don't know how to do a safe & adequate burnout, you don't belong on the dragstrip. If you think the practice is "old school", I would beg to differ. I've been attending drag races since 1965 (Irwindale, Lions, OCIR, Ontario Motor Speedway, Bakersfield, Fremont, Sears Point, etc), and racing since 1976 in a number of categories, and had never seen the practice till recently. I will say though...they still have sense not to jam up the burnout box/starting line with a bunch of people (or soft targets as we call em).

    • @Carolinaishome
      @Carolinaishome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I agree. Seems pretty dangerous.
