Wow, I had completely ignored this saw because of the battery power supply. I am a believer in corded products since I work out of a garage shop. Didn’t want to have to worry about several different charging systems. After watching multiple reviews over the more cost effective job site, and less room demanding, I was trying to make up my mind between a Dewalt and the red 10” skil saw for my upgrade. I have a much older 10” Skil saw that still serves me very well but was looking for the much better gear drive fence, and larger cut capacity. I believe your review has changed my mind and set me on course to buy this saw. Absolutely great reviews on your channel. I have watched many, with this being the one that has most altered my plans. Thank you so much for your in depth and accurate reviews! I am a disabled vet that for the last several years has done nothing but sit, eat and watch the boob tube. It dawned on me a couple of months ago that I could go back to woodworking to give my life more meaning and fulfillment. Thanks to this I am out of depression and happily dropped 56 of my 427 pounds so far. You and your compadres across you tube have been a large part of this and the development of my workshop area. Just wanted you to know how much of an impact you have on making a vets life much better! So again please accept my sincerest thanks!
I’ve had mine since they first came out and it still cuts like a champ. I never used the measuring scale and removed the optional fold down fence. You need to periodically check your dust collection port for wood slivers that can clog it and causes the blade to not lower all the way. No biggie there. The worm drive has never let me down and I’ve since made several nice jigs that fit my fence. It’s so portable and easy to store. I still really love this saw and along with a good Freud combo blade you can do some quality cutting with this bad boy. You will love it the more you use it.
@@robertburton9785 I suspect that the evil dado capability is blocking the import to the UK. Someday they may make a version with a short arbor to protect you folks.
All job site portables have their shortcomings. This saw has been in my cross hairs for awhile now and your review confirmed my thoughts about this saw. It is my choice.
I don’t think you mentioned that the blade rises to 3 5/8 instead of 3 3/8 so it will rip a 4 x 4 in one pass. Extremely convenient. I’ve had mine for 4 years now. I’m very satisfied with the performance. However the wheel to raise the blade wore out a year ago and I use a visegrip now. Very inconvenient when you need an exact rise. Also there is no blade caddy. The 16 inch wheels are awesome on a jobsite or stairs.
I bought mine about 5 years ago and after watching your video I went and measured the tape measure on the saw and mine was spot on. Because of the performance of the table saw I went and purchased a skill saw and was impressed with it also. It also is a beast but is a little heavier than the Black and Decker I replaced.
I have the smaller version, and you're right they are gutsy saws. They are loud. I changed the gear oil at the recommended interval but had a hell of a time finding the proper oil. The service # I called was no help at all, don't think they knew what I talking about. Was able to track down a Bosch gear oil that is compatible. Poor support for the Canadian market
I bought this saw recently. I had narrowed down my selection to this and the Dewalt 7491, and the safe choice would have been to get the Dewalt, to go with the rest of my yellow tools. However, based on your review of the 8-1/4 inch version and other research, I decided to go with this saw. I'm glad that I did. The saw's alignment was spot-on from the factory. Nothing needed to be adjusted. I feel like the accuracy is good enough to do fine furniture and cabinetry, although I'll be using it mostly for specialized framing work. I love that stand. It makes it really easy to get the saw in and out of the truck. I don't have the problem with the fence rails binding. I would be interested in seeing you figure out what the culprit is. Maybe something got bent in shipping. I haven't checked the ruler, as I've been in the habit for years of using the same tape measure to set up all the tools I use for any given job. However, I do have a few minor concerns and criticisms. 1) There was no instruction manual included with my saw. No biggie as it's downloadable from the Skil website, but what if they forgot something more important? 2) As you noted, it's odd that they didn't include washers for the saw-to-stand bolts. I added them. 3) I'm not wild about the plastic dust chute. What happens if a carbide tooth breaks off of your blade and gets thrown down into the chute? I am going to order a spare for safekeeping. 4) That channel in the fence helps make it super rigid, but I'm concerned that a splinter is going to get caught between it and the rear fence support. I might trim down a UHMW bar to fit in the channel. All in all, these are very minor concerns, and I would still choose this saw over the competition. As always, I really appreciate your tool reviews and especially the high-resolution close-ups. 👍
The DeWalts a great saw too but I do like the stand on the Skilsaw a little better at least initially. Personally I think they are both great choices. Doing a comparison vid for those two is more or less inevitable. Thanks for sharing your experience with that saw and thanks for watching!
Just purchased this saw on Amazon prime day, it was $100 off and a $200 dollars off for taking out the Amazon prime card brought the price down to $349 plus tax. I'm going to sell my Dewalt job site saw for $200 making the total price under $200. What a deal. This setup and review video was the best I've watched on the web and the reason I decided to upgrade to this saw. Great job, keep making these review videos, there very helpful.
That's an insanely good deal for that saw!! Don't forget to check the ruler for accuracy if you plan on using it. Glad the video helped!! Thanks for watching and good luck with the new saw!
owned this saw for 3 years and the miter saw, gone thru 3 blades building a log home, would definetly purchase again. Changed the oil 1 year ago. very informative video!
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
I'm a realtor and contractor. I started doing renovations about 7 years ago but I started roofing in 03 and was a rod buster for a couple of years after that. As I started doing more and more house flips I started using subcontractors less and doing more myself and I picked up this table saw about 4 months ago to replace my old Delta that I bought used several years ago. This all is better than my old Delta in every conceivable way. I have an old powermatic cabinet saw in my woodworking shop but I needed something portable. This thing is awesome and your video was one of the deciding factors to give this saw the greenlight. It has not disappointed and has been cutting lots of treated deck lumber like butter.
this saw is a beast. had it for 1 year plus and absolutely amazing tool. get the outfeed table. and use some loctite on the threads when mounting it. cutting 3 5/8 was the selling point and was not disappointed.
Mine just arrive today. Your stand set up explanation really helped. As soon as I saw the part about the measure tape on the saw, I ran out and checked mine. It is perfect. I am looking forward to many years of good service from this unit. I am a woodworking hobbyist and care very little about moving it around. Regardless, this looks like a great purchase. Thank you so much for the very thorough setup and review video. Subscribed.
Thanks for your video! Convinced me this was the saw for me and not the “yellow one”. I downsized due to space limitations from a 3 HP Delta Unisaw so I was a bit concerned about quality and power. You help me make the right choice. Just received my Skilsaw. It’s pretty nice. Tape measure is off 1/16” in 24” so will have to deal with that. Diving knife was way off and a pain to adjust like you mentioned. Rip fence was close but I got it adjusted to within 2-3 thousandths 👍🏻. I have a Worm drive Skilsaw circular saw that is well over 40 years old. We built a deck in the yard with it and it runs like a champ!!! No issues. So that performance, power and longevity is what I hope to get from this table saw!!! Thanks again
I was waiting for your review of this tool. You delivered! I am impressed. My Skil TS6307-00 is working very well, fence shim is one layer of painters tape to make it 100% accurate, Thanks for reviewing the outfeed support. Perhaps drilling, tapping and install of another wing screw would make the support more secure. Good saw with a great review. Love you tabby.
Really happy to hear you liked it! Your Skil TS is a great saw for a fair price. Sold mine to a buddy after the vid and instantly regretted it. Learned my lesson and now I keep everything for more vids or reference. I might do a follow up vid fixing all the tools that have had minor issues including this one’s rails and ruler. Adding another thumbscrews a good idea too. Thanks for watching!!
To set the fence to the second position use the wrench that tightens the blade it has two holes in it to set it place first hole over first screw then adjust second screw to fit the second hole will be aligned with the fence for the first setting.
Yes pls demonstrate the oil change. I’ve only heard others mention we need to use oil to keep the motor functioning properly but can’t find anyone that’s done the oil change, would be so helpful. Thanks for an honest review, I’ve been hoping you’d review this one.
Hi Mike, Skills got the a lock on the table saw at this price point. It is well designed, well implemented, right sized and a star performer. The steel fitment with plastic seat on the fence will warr in. The tape gage is thin so you could pull it up seat it again next to the tape you use most or replace it under warranty. I like the saw over all. Thanks for your review!
@@ProjectsForAllReviewswould you recommend the Skil or your original Delta ? My wife and I are looking for a decent table saw for her Etsy products and my speaker products.
Another good one, Mike. I do like the Skil stuff nowadays (even though it is made in China) Thanks for turning me onto MasterGage. These are the companies I like to associate with. That dado was awesome. I'm still annoyed whenever I try to set up my Amana set. My jobsite saw is a thirty year old craftsman. It has worked well and it doesn't owe me any money, but I'm always in the market to upgrade. You and your channel have helped me find some good stuff at a great price point. Keep calm and keep reviewing.
Thanks Meat! There was not a ton of options for a purpose made precision machined plates for calibrating a saw and I’m happy I found that one. Freud and others make a sanding and calibration disc but the dual purpose turned me off. How much care really went into machining it if it’s also for sanding I wonder. I appreciate you watching as always!
After 2 years of researching saws I choose this one just last week. Can't wait to get it as I've heard nothing bad ,other than the ruler, and honestly I always use a tape anyhow. But another great review from you supports my decision.
No tight spots here. I checked my scale and it was pretty close out to 24-inches at 75° F. Since the saw is aluminum and my tape measure is steel, I imagine it could be off at high and low temperatures. I never had a scale before and am not used to using it. I guess my scale is way off now since I added the half-inch thick UHMW to accommodate the width of the JessEm TS Stock Guides. I recently added the outfeed support and I do also have the dado insert.
Gladly, Love your unbiased opinions and weather as a professional or average Diy'er you would purchase a product. I believe your reviews let people know there are other products out there that are just as good or possibly better than the major brands. Good job.
Thanks for the great video! I just ordered mine. First table saw for me ever. I'm incredibly excited to get it together and start creating!! Inaugural project will be a chicken coop for my wife!! Keep up the great content 💪
Thank you for showing that saw in detail. Although it may seem stupid, having that removable dust, port cover is a big deal if you have nerve issues. There’s nothing like dropping your wrench and the nut when you’re trying to put a blade on because your fingers start spasming. The fence, motor, stand, wheels, power switch, and just general build look good from the armchair.
I have owned several Makita 8 and 10 “ table saws and always bought the Rousseau tables for them. I get at least 5-6 years of almost daily use from them. The complaint I have had is the plastic frame usually fails and the Rousseau tables adjustment and table boards( melamine) usually just wear out. This Skilsaw worm drive saw looks like a decent set up and even though I am now somewhat retired I think I will invest in one. The only problem I see is the outfeed side. I hate material falling off. I always build a solid outfeed table. It serves may purposes besides keeping the material off the ground…a workbench for one. Great thorough review, I’m subscribing.,
I want either this or the Oliver compact saw for its variable speed to cut acrylic and other materials. But this looks strong enough to run thicker blades than most compacts. Just wish they'd list a HP rating.
Awesome comment because we are getting the Oliver for sure! The schedules filling up around here fast but hopefully we get it done in a month or six weeks! Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Would also be great to know which of these saws is better suited to some of the major accessories: fence, roller guides, miter gauge Cheers! Just subscribed :)
@@ProjectsForAllReviews I would like to see a review of the Oliver 10010 Compact job site saw as well. It has some unusual interesting features (variable speed, sanding disk, outfeed extension, optional cart, English PDF manual).
I bought this larger version after seeing the smaller version get lots of positive reviews. I haven’t even used it but I will in the next week or so, it’s installed on the base and easy to maneuver around even for my 5’1” frame so I appreciate that. I wanted a table saw that had a large rip capacity and the power to rip through hardwoods after using a Ryobi and experiencing its motor fail to rip without having to hit the stop to avoid kickback. Thank you thank you for reviewing this one, I had no idea I could get accessories nor did I realize all the storage capacity it has under the table. Question, how do we oil the motor? I haven’t found any detailed how to’s
Glad the video helped and good luck with the new saw! I’ll have to do a worm drive oil change vid as many ppl have asked about it. Thanks for watching!
I have an older version, maybe 5-7 years older that has a slightly different fence. It has a T-track slot on top like the one on the side. I use it to mount Jessum stock guides onto the fence. The side slot I use to mount stops when cross-cutting or feather boards. I wish the handle on the left side was even with the top of the table so it would help support wider sheet goods and/or cross-cutting sleds. It has been a good saw for me.
I just got one of these today and the issue with the printed messurements seems to be fixed, also it seemed to be just as well aligned out of the box as yours was
I bought the 15 amp Skil (the red one). I wanted the worm drive one but couldn't afford the price difference. Is it actually worth the higher price? I paid $299 for mine new.
Short answer, yes. But only if you really need or want the extra durability for daily hard use. Otherwise for homeowner use the red one is a really great saw for a very fair price. IMO. Thanks for watching Dan!
I use to have a star shop professional since 2005 loved it but I move a lot was too heavy I changed for this exact skill and I am impressed easy to fold carry in my jeep or home. It powerfull mean more that my huge 300 pounds one. easy to set. The 24T is crap not even straight. I have been making furniture for the last 32 years. I have a professional degree in furniture making "ébénisterie" and a teaching degree in it too. I know my stuff and I am telling you that with a better blade, this is a great table saw. Just order the back extention. It has to sit a little below. Vibration is and high back is responsible for some kick back accident. . Great video thanks.
Love your in depth reviews! Looking to set up a small shop and I'm on the fence between Bosch and Skil. Years ago when I was a framer Skil was our go to work horse, but every time someone brought a Bosch on site we all were desperate to try it out. Funny to find myself in the same position 20 years later. 😅😅
I've had mine for about 4 years now ( after my Dewalt suddenly burned up on a jobsite). Overall, it's a really good saw with a few not so great points. The best thing about this saw is the power. The worm drive motor is a beast. By far the most powerful jobsite saw I've used. The few things that I don't care for? When I'm not on a jobsite, I use it in my garage. The lack of an ability to add a quality outfeed table is a little disappointing. The factory accessory outfeed is garbage & the same design as my previous Dewalt. Rockler makes a removable outfeed table that is much better, but requires fabricating custom attachment brackets. Same goes for an infeed table. With the rack& pinion fence rails, there is no place to add an aftermarket infeed table which is needed if your ripping a full sheet of plywood. Also, adjusting the angle of the bevel accurately & precisely with a digital miter gauge on the blade is nearly impossible as the spring is too strong. It needs a fine adjustment knob or something. And my last "con" is the "track"(?) that slides when your raising or lowering the blade. It's not sealed, so after using it awhile, it traps sawdust which then clogs the track making it difficult to raise & lower the blade completely. It happens quite quickly if you cut alot of MDF like I do. Overall though, I do think it is a good saw & glad I bought it
@@thomasclarke8220 Yes- you can get to it, but it's kind of a pain to do it. You either have to get on your hands & knees & reach up under the saw (tough on 64 yr. old knees) or flip the saw upside down. Also, the dust tends to stick to the track because of the lubrication on the track parts ( or maybe because of an electrostatic charge from the spinning blade (I'm not really sure on this)).
I have the Skil TS6307-00 10" portable table saw with the fold up legs....I honestly can't complain about that saw at all, sure its not 100% accurate, but its extremely close for what it is. Plenty of power for those times where you want a saw where you are working and don't want to try to drag the cabinet or contractor saw out of the shop. This 10" worm drive would be great...I think the worm drive would be better for thicker materials, and for hardwoods since I would think it would have more torque than the regular direct off the motor arbor type saws. Glad to see the longer arbor for a wider dado, but for a jobsite saw, I wouldn't expect too much....how often do people using a jobsite saw like this actually take the time to switch to a dado stack, or even carry one with them?
I really love that TS Skil too William. I find myself using that dado stack much more than I thought I would when I bought it. It’s prob 4-5 years old now and been through wet treated wood multiple times. I’m surprised it’s still sharp enough to do that demo and should probably be replaced. For me the best advantage to the wormdrive besides the power is it’s size. Good height and large table, out feed extension is more useful than expected too. Glad the TS has worked well for you! Thanks for watching!
*Doesn't come with a flat table. And this if fine when doing construction tasks, but if woodworking, all Jobsite saws are flawed this way. For instance, cutting smaller (barrow, or short) pieces, they can be off by several degrees due to the raised area around the threaded insert. Even the high end SawStop has this same issue. Niw, if you go back 10-12 years when jobsite saws had cast aluminum (not stamped aluminum on modern saws.) They gave you better cuts at a much lower price.
Another excellent review. Impressive tool, but I think the Dewalt 7491RS you reviewed would work best for me since I use the table saw almost exclusively for ripping 9/16" dadoes into 3/4" ply drawer side and front pieces which have all been made using various Festool equipment. I wish the DeWalt had the Skillsaw's excellent folding stand shown here, but the DeWalt version will have to suffice. The dado throat plate by DeWalt got terrible reviews, but there's a couple of TH-cam videos depicting how throat plates for the DeWalt can be made from 1/2" ply. Thanks again for your reviews. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of them.
I’ve only used the dado plate with the DeWALT a couple times but I don’t remember anything notably bad. I could see wanting a less wide slot for zero clearance if you commonly used a narrower dado though. Thanks for watching!
Skill has always been a good name and product. Unfortunately today they are made in China not the USA like years ago. But then little really is today. This is why China will own us someday. But I digress. This along with other Skill tools are a great value for the money. I use several of the battery tools and have been quite happy for the money. No they are not DeWalt quality but then they aren’t twice or even more the price. Nice video young man 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you, esp the young part! I didn't realize how much Bosch design was in this one until last weeks GTS15-10 review. I feel like this Skilsaw is a little bit worm drive Bosch and that's not really a bad thing. Thanks for watching!
They are both excellent, similarly priced, with comparable capabilities. It’s a really tough call but we’ll do a comparison vid within a month so keep an eye for that. Thanks for watching!
Hi, could you please tell me what the distance is between the front of the table and the leading edge of the blade? I just have an older Ridgid, with about 5" of lead space, before the wood meets the blade and I really think more "runway" is needed to use some jigs safely. It looks like the blade in this model sits pretty far back on the table. My crosscut sled would like that! Thanks for the deep dive into all the pros and cons of this saw. Wow! I can't believe it can cut 3 5/8" deep! That's a lot of blade spinning at warp speed by your fingers!
Wow! Grats on 9K subs, Mike. I presume the orange cat is now trustworthy? Great review on an almost amazing jobsite saw. It's pretty shocking that the measuring scale is off by that much, and compounds the error over its length. I agree it's totally unacceptable. One has to wonder how that got trough their QA, because any brand of Chervon tools are usually much better than that. Not a deal breaker for sure, and simple enough to fix, but I bet it has cost more than a few people a lot of money. It measures short which is bad. If it measured long the material could be re-cut. Cut short and you're screwed. I make it a habit to check all new tape measures for accuracy, and it's surprising how many are off by about 1/32" one way or the other. However, they are consistent the entire length of the tape. Not a big deal as long as you're aware of it when it really matters.
Thank you! Getting dangerously close to 10k. I’m considering doing a meet the creator type live stream when we hit that milestone. We’ll see if I can find the time/cojones. Your right and I didn’t realize I dropped the trustworthy part of that joke. Lol, nothing trustworthy about that cat! This is a really cool saw and very impressive. Shame about the small quality issues but fairly minor. I didn’t get into removing and fiddling with the rail because I was already past the 30 min mark and felt I was already pushing it. Thanks as always for watching!
Loosen and tighten the bolts to align the blade with the miter slots before the saw goes out of warranty. Mine stripped out and it was a bunch of work to remove the bolt. I ended up drilling it out and then replacing all the bolts with external hex instead of internal so I can get a socket on it for next time.
Seems better then my porter cable i got 7 years ago, cant even run sheet goods on it without having it walk away from you. Oh the the safty blade guard flew off and hit me in the face when I turned it on, almost took out an eye.
I bought the saw and the box looked like it fell off the truck a few times, needless to say the miter slots were not even close too being parallel with the blade, definitely needed ajusting! But other than that saw working great
I can’t loosen or unlock or lock the bevel lock lever! It was shipped at a 45° tilt or the 45° position, I made sure nothings impeding it like the foam and cable tie it’s shipped with, from tilting but regardless it WONT BUDGE!!! I watched probably 20x how you adjusted the lever and nothing on my end. Update: I unscrewed the blade height wheel which in turn the spring, plastic lever popped off and looking inside this lever it’s just plastic that’s suppose to adjust the lever. I found a website talking about extremely tight pivot joints where the blade meets the shoe, whatever that means but long story short I grabbed a channel lock for plumbing and WD40 and sprayed in areas I thought were related to the movement of the blade itself… nothing worked till I sprayed the blade lever bolt or metal mechanism ( sorry, not sure what these things are called) and with all my strength tried turning this lever bolt thingy lefty loosey and FINALLY! Suddenly the lever thing popped down and I was able to push it upward and magically adjust my blade to 90°. I thought I was going to have to return it. Just a warning if you buy this thing on Amazon, some of the reviews were negative because their tablesaw arrived damaged or missing parts, etc. I should’ve checked and set it up back when I got it but if your blade lock lever is literally locked in place and won’t budge, loosen the screw to the wheel and spray WD40 plus use (carefully) channel lock or other strong pliers and turn it lefty loosey.
Skil gives the dimensions of the little brother 8.25 inch saw on their web site but neglect that detail in their specification for 10 inch model. What are the dims for the saw (w/o the cart) for big brother ? thank thee :-)
Ha I didn’t notice when I ordered mine from there. Nope it has to be plugged in! Be aware some reviewers had damage to their ts package from Amazon so document delivery if you order it just in case. Fortunately mine was fine but beware of Amazon and tools, I’ve had more missing parts (the worst being Bora wood storage shelves with 2x boxes missing significant parts) than from any other store delivery
Hi mike great video.!. I love how thorough you are in your review and i love your Delta saw. Would like you to compare the skill saw to that one, I wanted a delta saw but it would just kill my work space . Hello Fruitman! We’re doing the Skilsaw vs DeWALT next but I’d be surprised if I don’t do the Delta eventually. If you haven’t seen the Delta vs DeWALT yet check out that vid. I’ll bet the Skilsaw comparo will have a similar result. Thanks for watching!
Soooo will I be able to use a thin kerf blade on this saw being that the riving knife can’t be removed and will probably be thicker than a thin kerf blade.
I am looking for a replacement for my Ryobi Bts20r that i have bien using since hurricane Ivan hit the caribean. The motor was no good, but i got a universal motor that fits it and it is still going on over 9 years ,it's my only table saw, and I used it for everything, but I only used diabol 81/4" ×24 tooth blade, it cuts much easier, less presur on the motor.
You covered nearly every dimension except storage space. Can you give the Width, Depth, and Height required for folded up (Standing) storage footprint? Thanks
Absolutely. There are concessions with job saws for that type of work though. A small amount of accuracy reduction, loud noise, smaller tables but from a strict can it be done standpoint, sure it can. Good luck and thanks for watching!

I remove the rule from my saws and replace them with starrett measure stix sm66me. One of the best upgrades ive found.
That's probably what I'll do also. Should have something on there for the vs. DeWALT vid. Thanks for watching!
Sounds sick. Looking forward to it. This is just a little extra engagement for the algorithm gods.
Do you know how to align the blade to the miter slot??
You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.
Thanks for watching!
When you showed the box dimensions, it reminded me that the box didn't fit in my car. I had to take everything out and flatten the box!
Lol!! I’ve done the same many times. Recently bought a pickup truck because of the channel. Love it. Thanks for watching!
I’m happy to hear the video helped Daniel! This saw has become my go to also and I’m just as happy with it now as in the video. Thanks for watching!
this saw is a beast. had it for 1 year plus and absolutely amazing tool. get the outfeed table. and use some loctite on the threads when mounting it. cutting 3 5/8 was the selling point and was not disappointed.
Subscribed.
Thank you for your reviews. You helped me make a decision on purchasing this table saw. It arrived today.
Glad the video helped JC! Good luck with the new saw and thanks for watching!!
Thanks for watching!!
how did you shim the fence with tape?
To set the fence to the second position use the wrench that tightens the blade it has two holes in it to set it place first hole over first screw then adjust second screw to fit the second hole will be aligned with the fence for the first setting.
Thanks for the demo! When it comes time, please show us how to perform the oil change for the worm drive.
Will do! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your review!
i've owned mine for a few years and love it, i fine calibrated it for my woodworking
I'm impressed with the engineering in the stand.
I love mine....2 years old and running like a champ
Thanks for watching!
Glad to hear your saw is good. Probably just a bad batch at the printers. I’ve never used that Jessem stock guide but it’s on my list.
I just picked up this saw on clearance at Lowe’s for $357.47! I can’t believe my luck.
I hate you lololol
Honesty. Love the critical analysis.
Thanks Jackie!
Thank you for showing that saw in detail. Although it may seem stupid, having that removable dust, port cover is a big deal if you have nerve issues. There’s nothing like dropping your wrench and the nut when you’re trying to put a blade on because your fingers start spasming. The fence, motor, stand, wheels, power switch, and just general build look good from the armchair.
i would like to see it compared with the Metabo 10", 15A job site saw. I am going to purchase a new saw and like Skill but am leaning to the Metabo.
I’d like to make that vid for you George! The corded and cordless Metabo are on my short list. We’ll get to them soon. Thanks for watching!
Great thorough review, I’m subscribing.,
I think the good overshadows the bad on this saw! Thanks for the review, I am looking for a new saw right now and doing my research! 👍
I got this saw. Love it. It’s a workhorse! I have to recalibrate the fence.
Thanks mike! I can always rely on you for an awesome review video
Glad you like the reviews help! Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Would also be great to know which of these saws is better suited to some of the major accessories: fence, roller guides, miter gauge
Cheers! Just subscribed :)

I would like to see a review of the Oliver 10010 Compact job site saw as well. It has some unusual interesting features (variable speed, sanding disk, outfeed extension, optional cart, English PDF manual).
Just bought one and love the larger wheels. Make it easier to wheel over uneven ground and get up and down stairs.
I have a small production shop, i have two of these......i love these saws!
Thanks for watching Doug!
PROPER JOB. VERY THOROURGH AND INTERESTING VIDIO. NICE ONE
Thanks for watching Timothy!
Great reviews: This saw is the same $ as the Dewalt and it's so much better. Again, SKIL all the way for my money.
I just got one of these today and the issue with the printed messurements seems to be fixed, also it seemed to be just as well aligned out of the box as yours was
Good review. Been waiting to pull the trigger on a new saw. I have been framing with worm drives for 40 years, this would be a good addition. Thanks
Glad the video helped! Thanks for watching!
People should know that the Skillsaw has a geared transmission. The oil in the transmission needs changed per the manual. Thanks for the saw reviews.
Thanks for watching Rick!
I have this saw and it is BADASS hands down
I've had mine for about 4 years now ( after my Dewalt suddenly burned up on a jobsite).
Overall though, I do think it is a good saw & glad I bought it
Are you able to get at that raise and lower "track" to clear it out?
@@thomasclarke8220 Yes- you can get to it, but it's kind of a pain to do it. You either have to get on your hands & knees & reach up under the saw (tough on 64 yr. old knees) or flip the saw upside down. Also, the dust tends to stick to the track because of the lubrication on the track parts ( or maybe because of an electrostatic charge from the spinning blade (I'm not really sure on this)).
@@doofusmaguilacutee4998 Thanks for the reply and info.
I've had a Master Plate for over 40 yrs.
Same brand and design? Thanks for watching Louis!
thanks dude- these are exactly what i needed when i needed
Great video Mike, keep up the great work. Look forward to your next review.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this review!
This saw looks absolutely amazing.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Great video! Much easier going by this than the small text on the instruction manual.
Glad the vid helped Craig! Thanks for watching!
Love your reviews.
Would love to see a head-to-head with the Dewalt
Thanks Philip! Keep any eye out for that comparo vid. Hopefully within a month. Thanks for watching!
What is the overall height when the stand is collapsed?
I was scrolling through for small shop and garage build. Going to get it.
Should have another video on this one soon. Skilsaw vs DeWALT. Thanks for watching!
How do you think this saw would compare to the new Bosch GTS15-11 saw with the Wormdrive fence?
How would you compare this to the dewalt 10" jobsite saw?
They are both excellent, similarly priced, with comparable capabilities. It’s a really tough call but we’ll do a comparison vid within a month so keep an eye for that. Thanks for watching!
I have this saw I love it overall. The pros outweigh the cons.
What is the measurement for the widest part of the stand. I want to know if it will fit through a door.
Thanks as always for watching!
hey bro, thank u for ur video. I am a SKIL fan for many years. Really like their products. I heard of this saw will have geat deal on AMZ Prime Day
Another great video Mike very detailed as always!
Thanks Michael!
All they need is a bed extension for that left side. I love mine, but wish i had more table top on that side
Awesome review Mike. Thanks! 😃
Thanks for watching Skippy!!
Appreciate the very thorough review!
Glad you liked the vid! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tip Spock and thanks for watching!
Seems better then my porter cable i got 7 years ago, cant even run sheet goods on it without having it walk away from you.
Oh the the safty blade guard flew off and hit me in the face when I turned it on, almost took out an eye.
I’ve never seen a blade guard fly off and hit someone! Not a good endorsement for a product. Probably time for a new saw! Thanks for watching!
Definitely need to see a comparison on this and the DeWalt
I’ll get it done! Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectsForAllReviews second this request
I bought the saw and the box looked like it fell off the truck a few times, needless to say the miter slots were not even close too being parallel with the blade, definitely needed ajusting! But other than that saw working great
Great review, yes please comparison with the Dewalt.
For your magnetic angle gauge, do you have a particular brand that you have found to be ‘better’ or is there really a difference.
Thanks, excellent review. I've been searching for a better saw. I'm probably going to buy one to replace my not very good Kobalt table saw.
That deep as thick dado cut 😊
This saws a beast Jose! Thanks for watching!
If you could get any table saw under 1k what would you get? This, the delta, DeWalt, rigid? I’m really curious your thoughts
Thanks You are a life saver
Glad the video helped Julie! Thanks for watching!!
Skil gives the dimensions of the little brother 8.25 inch saw on their web site but neglect that detail in their specification for 10 inch model. What are the dims for the saw (w/o the cart) for big brother ? thank thee :-)
I've been trying to align the blade to the miter slot and have no luck. I already know how to do it.
‘Some Roman sword action right there’ 😂
Thanks for watching Radin!
The measuring guide has been fixed, I recently purchased this saw and it is now accurate
The Amazon description says the saw is battery powered, and that one A battery is required!
LOL!!! I'll have to look! I wonder how many linear dado feet you'd get on one AA!?
Ha. I saw that too. Amazon! What can I say about that?
Ha I didn’t notice when I ordered mine from there. Nope it has to be plugged in! Be aware some reviewers had damage to their ts package from Amazon so document delivery if you order it just in case. Fortunately mine was fine but beware of Amazon and tools, I’ve had more missing parts (the worst being Bora wood storage shelves with 2x boxes missing significant parts) than from any other store delivery
NEVER, NEVER trust Amazon item specifications or details ...
they more often wrong than correct (and are very rarely ever corrected)
Hi mike great video.!. I love how thorough you are in your review and i love your Delta saw. Would like you to compare the skill saw to that one, I wanted a delta saw but it would just kill my work space . I was wondering how much i will give up by purchasing a skill saw SPT99-11 over the Delta. thank you for the great video and any help would be great,
Hello Fruitman!
I admit I was in full cringe when you sent the 4x through the dado at full capacity 😂. But it handled it like a champ. 😳 I’m impressed.
Yep I was at 50% pucker on that one! 😎 Never know till ya try! Thanks for watching!!
Loved the video!I sell Saw Stops and after seeing this,I'm impressed.I personally own a Dewalt 745 and it is similar to the Skil.
Thanks William! I really loved this one, has a truckload of power! Im looking forward to checking out the Sawstops Thanks for watching!
Soooo will I be able to use a thin kerf blade on this saw being that the riving knife can’t be removed and will probably be thicker than a thin kerf blade.
skil says you need a blade with at least 0.094 inches wide kerf and a plate
(body) thickness that is .071" thick.
Thanks
Think i could use this saw if i wanted to get into furniture builds, or cabinetry?
Absolutely. There are concessions with job saws for that type of work though. A small amount of accuracy reduction, loud noise, smaller tables but from a strict can it be done standpoint, sure it can. Good luck and thanks for watching!
