Hi Randy! Nice looking Bible. Your Cristian book link takes you to a page not found, but, it is on their site.

Thanks Brent. YT doesn't like long links and I've used up all of my free bitly links. I'll see what else I can find.

They've made some changes to the info in the back. They also have some errors in the links in the intro to books (which have been moved in front of each book). I've reported some, but haven't heard back.

I wish they would make the same exact bible in black or navy blue. I'll even take dark brown!

Seems a shame to have all these helps and goodies but an abridged reference suite.

Hi. I am considering upgrading my leather Kirkbride TCR and would like some info before I purchase a new calf skin version. Regarding the new version: The calfskin version seems smaller than premier goatskin? Is the paper in the calfskin thicker than the Kirkbride edition? Is there a chance the NASB will ever be made in the handy size? Thank you. I am a big fan of the Thompson chain reference Bible.

    • @BibleBuyingGuide
      @BibleBuyingGuide  ปีที่แล้ว

The calfskin has 30gsm and the goatskin has 36gsm, making it a thicker block. The goatskin also has more overhand (yapp) of the leather, so it's slightly taller and wider. The Kirkbride was around 28-30gsm. I don't think they're planning the NASB in handy size.

One thing I want to mention is a concern for the Premiere Series. I bought this summer a NKJV Verse by Verse Center Column Reference Bible in Black Goatskin by Thomas Nelson, the Premier Collection. The cover was nothing like the one reviewed by you or any other reviewer I saw. The leather on the one I received was extremely dry and dull. Christianbook where I purchased it checked up and said that all copies they had were like that. They offered money back and showed good customer service, so kudos to them. I sent three mails to Nelson on the issue though and haven’t got one single response. Now it’s been months. I wouldn’t like to believe Nelson is sending one sort of bibles to reviewers, and another to customers. But I think you as reviewer should get feedback on this.

I’m sorry that happened. I have had three premier with the current being the tcr NASB. I haven’t had any problems with them. Maybe thry got a bad batch.

@@Poppop-yp7zm Christianbook said all they had in store of that specific bible were like that. I sent them photos. The leather is very dry and dull. Ex much duller than the newer goatskins from Schuyler. Nothing like the leather shown by the reviewers. I didn’t ask about other bibles from the Premier Collection though. May be some like that sort of leather, something I doubt, but my concern is that it’s not the same cover as presented by any of the reviewers. And also that Nelson does not reply on the issue. So I will not again buy another new Premier bible before I have more information on this matter.

@@einarengemoen2486 have you heard anything? To my knowledge, they send mine from the same inventory, but I agree with the comment above that it could be a bad batch.

    • @einarengemoen2486

@@BibleBuyingGuide I didn’t hear from them, but made my peace with the cover (sort of). The Bible itself is a good bible. I would guess that the goatskin is durable even if it didn’t meet my expectations in appearance and feel. May be it’s the batch as you suggest, but my guess would be that they started out with the leather you and others have reviewed, and then 2-3 years later went with another leather supplier, or may be the same but with leather processed another way. Another thing to be aware of with that specific bible is something I never saw before. I noticed because you said that the paper in that specific bible is creamish. But when I look at it in daylight it is chalk white. Whiter than the hard cover ESV study bible with Chinese paper. Whiter than all the other soft leather bibles I’ve got from Nelson. Very strange. But then I discover that under lamp in the evening - then the paper actually turned cream. So this paper is chalk white in daylight and cream under lamp. Interesting at the least :)

@@einarengemoen2486 Thanks! The paper does seem to look different under different types of light. I misunderstood on the leather. I thought you had gotten this exact Bible that released last week. They do use different suppliers over time, so there might be noticeable changes over the years. My comments were in reference to this Bible only. I'd need to look at mine from several years ago to compare with your description.

Thank you Randy! Do you have any plan to do the review for large print NASB? Is the comfort print really easy on the aging eyes? I want the large print but don’t like the red letter….. What would you recommend? Thank you

Hi Kelly. I'm almost 56 and I find Comfort Print to be excellent for reading. For large print, are you referring to the Thompson? I don't know if they're sending me that one.

    Hi Randy
At a glance, does this font size look similar to the font size of Zondervan's NASB Classic reference? I've heard people say the Classic Reference's font is too small but if it looks like the one in the Thompson Chain, it might be alright for me.

Hi. I have in my notes that they're both 9.5. It will take me a few days to get to the Classic Reference to confirm that.

Hi, I’m thinking about getting a Premium Edition Thompson for studying and preaching. Are there any updates to this NASB that are not in the KJV by Zondervan? I was going to purchase the KJV.

Great review. How does the paper qualities (thickness, sheen/glare) compare with Zondervan's side column reference?
To me, it looks like the same, but I could be wrong and often am.
