Your exactly right, "nobody does this on TH-cam". I appreciate how informative and detailed about your "how to's" cuz I own a 2021 4Runner and it helps tremendously!
Just installed weather tech's rain guards on my 07 highlander. At first the auto rollup would cause the anti pinch function to kick in and roll the window halfway back down. I tried retraining my windows and applying silicon spray but that didn't work. After speaking to weather tech customer service they suggested i leave the windows fully closed for 24 to 48 hours. I checked the next day and voila, it worked!
The one thing I did notice after install of the weather techs was a little more wind noise at hiway speeds. YMMV but my install was as flawless as yours and I did notice it. Have had them installed for almost a year now and am use to it but I do remember hearing it. I had no increase in wind noise after getting the Nitto Grapplers or the 3” Icon Stage 3 lift but did after the weather techs.
Thanks, had these on my Silverado 1500 LD and just finally ordered them for my 4runner... can't wait! Not sure if anyone else is bothered by the whistle at highway speeds from the front windows when they're cracked lol. Up here in NJ the weather has still been less than spring-like so cracking the windows just enough so you don't freeze causes a whistle -_- but it disappears when the windows are lowered a bit more. I'm hoping these will solve that issue. My mom and sister are down in Sarasota and University Park, enjoyed the video =]
Hey Sarasota Tim! I went to Utah in August, just after watching your Moab video, guess what, after the trip I bought a GX460! No dealer had any 4Runner so I got it’s cousin.
I got the deflector to work; I didn’t leave the lower end outside (it was a bit counter intuitive to visualize). I actually drove a Corolla the whole week and loved it. That’s why I was convinced I’m a Toyota guy
Great video. I’m interested if these keep the water that come off the windshield wipers off your side windows. Stock, at highway speeds, that water goes around the a pillar by the mirror and then fans across the driver and passenger window. Even the wiper fluid does it.
ST, I added the Wx Tech wind deflectors to my 2020 4Runner (set of 4) and I'm having some significant wind noise from the front set. At 50 mph it's not bad. At 60 it's starting to get moderately loud and at 70 it's pretty significant wind noise. The rear set seems to be fine; no issues. Have you experienced this with your front deflectors? Thanks.
Not a peep Morpheus, maybe return them or have them send another set. Mine are the inside the trac rain guards. I’m sure yours are the same but make sure the install is all the way up. 😎
I agree….i have them on my 2018 4Runner and cannot have my front windows open, the noise is to loud, plus the driver side one makes a flapping noise, it’s annoying….other than that I like the way they look
I’m thinking about getting these for my new 4Runner but there are no videos of people driving with them and how good of a job they do when it’s actually raining. There are a ton of videos of people installing them but no real world use.
Question from a first time ever rain guard installer.. is it normal for the windows to ride against the guard in channel? (assuming yes because it sits inside the rubber part but just figured for piece of mind) I ran into the issue of one window non stop whacking the guard even after pulling them out. Was it just repetition that ended up fixing yours or bending them outwards supposed to be the fix on that one?
Assuming you have the weathertech ring guards like mine you shouldn’t have any issues, but I would contact them and have them replaced if your window is definitely not doing what it should. It’s been so long since I installed mine I can’t even remember but I don’t have problems with it touching or scraping. 😎
I have the same on my camry that are in channel and have had em about a month, do yours feel wobbly or loose when your windows are down? Maybe just me worried they might fall off while driving with my window down but I've never noticed them loose till now.
@@SarasotaTim thanks for the feedback, just went to a drivethru after my car has been in the shop so as my windows are down I noticed it felt like a loose tooth but still held in. Just worried they'll fall off while driving but I might reinstall them and hope it doesn't hurt the retention. I'm hoping the shop didn't tamper with them cuz they're a bit pricey and just take too long to order again.
Check out my awesome video coming up within the hour of running it through the car wash and reporting on any wind noise driving on the highway and now we’re at the park. After the car wash and shining them up nicely they’re very smart looking on the 4Runner you are definitely going to get these for your 4Runner 😎
You can leave the stickers on. There is no reason why you have to take the stickers off. I would argue its riskier to take them off with the risk of hurtuing the piece.
Hey Niner, thanks for your comment. The stickers came right off and a little alcohol took the residue off too. I would remove the stickers every time bc they’re stuck on there crooked also. I remove sticker from everything on my vehicle pin stripe’s dealer decals and the rest. 😎
It’s an SR5 premium TRD pro off road 4x4 with ….the sunroof! 😂 (2021 SR5 Premium) I made it my own as the Barcelona Red was just too red for me so I added some chrome badges and decals to break up the red red red. Even the door handles were red from the factory. I wanted The magnetic gray or white but of course at the time it was slim Pickens. At the end of the day I’m very happy with it and how she looks. Thanks for commenting Eric. 😎

Cool Mr. 57🤙 I’m glad the video helped you and thanks for the compliment too. Happy New Year 😎
Thank you for posting this video! I followed your instructions and tips - step by step - and it worked like a charm with no problems.

I golf there sometimes when I see a deal. A wonderful secluded place to live in Sarasota. 😎
Nj here . Removed mine after two weeks . Too much wind noise and whistles when slightly cracked open while driving
Tammy’s a great camerawoman! 👍🏼👏
Haha Tammy says thanks Leti. I forgot to use my new mic. 😎
Thanks for the install/review video. Ordering for my 2013 Ford Edge. I do Car Camping in it...when I go out hiking along the Appalachian Trail.
These are a must for you then Scott. No regrets paying the price for my 4Runner. Fit like a glove. 😎

I really like how you did this video. Nice work.
Thanks a lot i_run_far. I’m glad you liked it. 😎
They look great btw. It looks like you've done this a hundred times.

Hate that feeling the worst
Exactly! Especially during slushy Canadian winter days. Leads to visibility issues
Hi Tim, where you get the cover seat? Thanks for the video
You went into good detail…thanks
Great video, thanks for the tip on removing those annoying stickers!
Sure thing Roy, I appreciate you taking the time to comment on the video. 😎
Hi wow I like those I’m going to buy me some it looks beautiful thank you 🙏 for the video I thought they came with adhesive tape
Nope No tape just High quality that you would expect from WeatherTech. Thanks for your comment Veronica I hope you get them. 😎
Great content! Thanks for the concise install video! Great info!!
You got it Steve 🤙😎

The window on my GX460 keeps detecting the object and wants to file down, any tip on how to “train” the window?
Sorry EJ that sounds like a dealer question. 😎
Thank you man just put ours in

May I ask, using them for camping airflow, do you have any plans for keeping bugs out? They're a pretty big issue in the Wisconsin area for me.
When it’s to hot or bugs is an issue I idle my engine all night.
I’ve got videos about it, doesn’t hurt a thing. 😎
@@SarasotaTim nice, thank you!
@@SarasotaTim you leave your engine running for the entire night?
Yep doesn’t hurt a thing. Will run until it’s outta gas. As long as the cooling system is operative your good. 😎
Burns only a few gallons all night.

Right from WeatherTech.com Samuel. 😎

🤣yes definitely. 😎

Any more mods and FHP is going to pull you over for installing too many 4runner mods in one week :)
Yeah i’ve reached the limit this week. 😎
With the upbadged TRD emblem that the Pro owners laugh at...
Ummhmm😎
im more upset that your window tint cut is so bad lol.
Huh?
Thanks
Thats not a "mod" just like washing & waxing a car is not a "detail".
