Okay, tears are streaming now, heh. I've been a fan of Tori since my angsty 90's teens. Her music has pulled me through some of the most trying times of my life....and now...here she is...all these years later...singing with her daughter. Beautiful.
+Melody Mammino amen. So true. I think if I ever saw Tori live, I'd be one of those crying fans ar concerts I used toblaugh at, heh. There's just something about her and her music....haunting.
This song cuts so deep when you don't have a good relationship with your mum... I hope their love is really as stable and honest as this song portrays. If so, happy for them.
Gives some hope that there are better mom daughter relationships out there than i had, and that i can keep my strength in building my relationships with my daughters.
I've been listening Tori since I was 13 or 14 I'm 42 now and going through one of the hardest times I my life watching someone literally killing themselves everyday after 5 years if sobriety I never heard this song somehow but it's riping my heart out😢😢😢 she's gotten me through the some of the hardest times in my life I love this song
My father listened to her for years. He introduced her when I was a toddler. Seeing this progression is tear jerking. I just wish my father could have seen all of this. Sadly, he is no longer with us so it's actually hard to watch this without crying a little. I adore her music and wish nothing but the best for her and her family.
Tori was my first true love of music. She inspired me to embrace my own creativity. As a survivor she taugh me how to love myself. As a daughter who adores her mother that has terminal Endometrial cancer this rings different today. I found her music therapeutic after suffering 9 miscarriages while trying to get pregnant. All followed by chemo and total hysterectomy by age 29...... I feel like Tori writes my story, so similar to her own in my early years... Tori is 100% the soundtrack of my life. I am 41 and I love her just as much now as I did then. What a completely stunning and generative polymath.
Keith Hinchcliffe whoa, whoa, whoa. She can carry a tune and her voice is pretty but Tori is my all time favorite. My opinion and my post is all in fun. 😊
Ive been a Tori Amos fan since I was 15 entering Cornflake Girl era. To see this beautiful display of mother and daughter (me the age 37 now) absolutely floored me and after repeatedly watching this video, I have again connected with a woman who’s art has brought deep emotions out of me since i was a boy. Making me the emotionally available and courageously creative man I am today. My promise.
meowwoofwombat - And you know that, how? From two posts on a TH-cam video? Tori's back-catalog has a lot of great tunes, some outright Genius-level, but this sappy, sentimental display is not one of them.
@@StopMoColorado it's not really for you, she did this for herself.. something that truly made her happy and change her life. that alone just makes it a little special. stop hating in positive things,, try to love more.
I love this song.....I have a very strong relationship with my parents.....as a gay man, I was lucky to be blessed with accepting and supportive parents and I appreciate them for the life that I was allowed to have.....this song makes me cry.....I cry for the love that I was given and I also cry for those that didn't get the love they needed.
When my daughter came out I was 100% supportive, and always will support her happiness. I made her promise that she will always bring home any friends whose parents aren’t accepting. They will be my babies, too.❤
Makes me feel old. I remember Tori's struggles with miscarriages and writing songs about it like Spark from Chior Girl. I am so happy that she finally had a girl.
I was just thinking that! I remember hearing "Spark" on the radio when it was first played, and crying with a girl that I was dating back then (in a brown camaro). Always have that memory, and this just blew my mind.
I feel so choked up listening to this song . Their voices blend so seamlessly. Tori’s vocals are distinctive ,thrilling, otherworldly and glorious. Her daughters vocals are richly warm and beautifully grounded. ❤️
Zedfinite - Absolutely not. Tori was trailblazing and unique, with a style, and a voice, unlike anyone else's. Her daughter sounds like any number of other wannabe Beyonce/Rhiannon clones polluting the world's Sound Space. Based on what's on display in this video, there is precisely Zero threat that her daughter is going to revolutionize modern music the way she did in the early '90s. Get a grip!

I have loved Tori since the 90’s and I just found this song. I LOVE it so much. They remind me of my daughter and I. And Tori’s daughter has a beautiful voice!
Even after about a year from discovering this video by Tori...STILL brings tears to My eyes. Such a beautiful song. Wish I had a mother that was there, but never was. Father wasn't either...or anybody. 🤔🥺😭
There's no words to process what I am feeling right now. To see Tori step back and lend the leading role to her daughter, herself being a force of nature like her mother... That is a testament of motherly love, that is Tori promising Tash to be there even when she spread her wings and fly solo. You can see their chemistry in both voice and posture, and I'm really proud for both Tori and Tash to have this connection. Thank you both for this moment of inspiration and love. I hope one day (even as a gay man) to have a child of my own, to share moments of inspiration and to help growing up fully realized like you do.

I will always remember meeting Tori when I was 17, behind the singletary center, Dew Drop Inn tour. Was kinda a shame that security was like "anyone takes a picture, she's gone" so I only have the memory. She has one of the most potent radiance or auras I have ever felt, when she got close, was just a wave of feeling that washed over of "everything's gonna be alright" ... Then she got to me, said "Hey Babe" and gave me a hug..... Unforgettable. Much love to both mother and daughter.
As an ENORMOUS Tori fan since I discovered "Cornflake Girl" during my middle school days in the mid-90s (boy, did she and Alanis help me find my voice!) Adore this. Beautiful song, beautiful sentiment. My Mum loved Tori. So I was brought up on, Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink. Learning to love her myself. 30 years old now and am now bringing my children up on her. Her music has carried me through some really trying times. As soon as I saw this and heard the lyrics, I had to ring my mum and tell her I love her...
Luna No way you were a teenager when LE came out. I was, but I'm nearly ten years your senior. You were 10 when it came out. Unless you reckon that number is pronounced as One-Teen, you were still several years away from being "in your yen years" when it was released.
o my yes this record is absolutely amazing..her daughter is her whole, through her mother, how much more beautiful can two souls be!!!the words send holy bumps throughout my soul!!!!best duet of all times..
I'm not someone's daughter, I don't have a daughter, and yet I still couldn't stop myself from tearing up when I first heard this song. You really need to hear it on the album to feel its full impact, as the video cuts out a full minute of the song. It's a beautiful, timeless expression of the unbreakable bond between parent and child, one that acknowledges the darker parts of life - doubts, fears, "breaking down" - without dismissing or romanticizing them. It shows how parents and children mutually depend on each other for support and emotional sustenance, which is what sets it apart from so many other "mother-daughter" songs out there. It's one of my favorite songs of the year.
I think it's my favourite of the album. Daughter and mother, two great voices. Saw Tori Amos in Paris, listen to her music from the age of 14, for 24 years now. My favourite female singer. For me Tori Amos = feminity (I hope this sounds not too stupid, i hope you understand what i mean)
Am 50.Have seen Tori perform at Sheas in Buffalo New York. Her talent, stage actions and personality to me are above all others.Rare to hear a person sing and from the opening sentence be hooked. And for me it is longer then your 24 years of age.You have great taste
Samuel Christen I can't say this enough, this song is beautiful 😌🎶 Please give the song *Don't Stone Me* by ninanile a listen. I wrote the song and I'd love to know what you think 😌
Simply amazing. There are very few artists who have such a deep well of creativity and talent as her to sustain the evolution of their craft/style for so long. She is with out a doubt in the league of the greatest singer, song writer, composers of all time, not just our time! Her daughter seems to be on the same path, She has "the gift" as well.
This surely brings out a lot of joy, albeit bittersweet, especially after you happen to remember all those negative events that she had to stomach before she could finally experience this kind of love. Gotta love how she writes about every part of life: happiness, desperation, the collective and the singular entity.
This gets me every time. I love Tori so much, she has been such an inspiration to me over the years and it's so sweet to see her and her daughter sing a song together. She is such an amazing woman!
WOW! Your baby girl and you have me bawling! My own relationship with my mom isn't great, but this song and video have so much love radiating through! You did a phenomenal job Tori and are a phenomenal woman! I've been a fan since the early 90's and thank you so much for all that you share with us!
I'm a very long-term fan and her style has certainly changed but I think this mother/daughter song is beautiful and simple and I really don't believe you can determine what type of mother she is based on a music video... coz we all act normal in music videos :) love this and love Tash's voice x
This song (& especially the video!) brings tears to my eyes. Tori played a huge role in my 90's high school experience. The way she could create something so exquisite without hiding her wounds, traumas & battle scars was nothing short of genius... I remember the photos of her wedding day & during her pregnancy. She looked radiant & oh so happy... And now, it's as though her life has come full circle. I'm so glad that she's still allowing fans to see the "real" Tori...
This is one of my favourite songs 💗 it warms my heart so much. Discovering Tori Amos is what helped me find my sound as a musician. For that I am so thankful!
Came here for the glorious, wonderful mood whiplash after listening to Playboy Mommy. Go, Tori. Sing as many sentimental songs as you want with your lovely daughter and the hell with anyone who complains that it's too normal or sappy or omg why is her kid on the track. Be glad that Tori is in a place where she can pour her heart out into a song like this, instead of a song like, say, Spark or Me And A Gun. I'll take a thousand Promises over one more like those.
iamkunx - Well stated. Too many people want to push a button like a vending machine and have an artist amuse them....instead of appreciating what the artist creates, and the space they are in when they create it.
Tori has had some dark days. I am glad she is in a place where she has a daughter on the brink of adulthood where she can share the gift of singing and songwriting. She deserves every happiness in her life.

Dana the universe brought you. I don't know how to reach you as 'I'm only on LinkedIn.' Anyway, I loved your channel / poetry. I send you one of my own poems as a 'thank you' for entering my life for a few moments:
Sophi
She has a drunken vulnerability,
(Former Persil choirgirl carrying notes to her own funeral),
octane-charged beyond her nineteen years,
and focused green in some far off place.
Cocooned spirit, encased in a life-rust
between the skeletal fog of war zones;
between living alone and real loneliness.
In bloodshot clusters of stained glass
I hear the percussion of imploding cells,
as rain begins to fall from a hopeless sky,
moving like stones over millennia.
And, as you leave the legacy of the sound of your footsteps,
and go to a corner where hearts begin to sweat,
and entrails begin to writhe,
I remember your eyes brightening into mine,
before the needle-tapestry of your days
weaved the sail of your tryst with death.
© Ivan Sanders
Sophi was a 19 year drug addict old patient of mine who I failed to turn around. She was found dead one very cold morning outside a locked church door. The words on the note found in her hand would be too distressing for some readers. It was her time to return.
For non-U.K. readers the reference to 'Persil' is to a washing powder.

If you watch/hear "Spark" and then you watch/hear "Promise", there's no way of holding back the tears.
I had the same thought. I was thinking about Playboy Mommy and while watching this and I can't help but to feel very happy for Tori. Tash seems like a really cool, down to earth person too.
Me too and Tash is very talented, her voice is gorgeous. You can clearly see how happy and proud Tori is. I'm very happy for her.
you cry because you regret the decay? I do.
That's a personal opinion and it depends from the place where it comes from to be respectable.
It's obviously a personal opinion, of course. So is what you say....
For me it shows what the song wants to say....Tori can be proud of her talented daughter....Congratulation.
Tori Amos Promise is one of my favorite song! Great duet with her daughter!
Thanks for your love and support to my music, I have you all my fans to be most grateful for 🌹🌹♥️

Such a beautifully produced song. Brings tears to my eyes every time I listen.
Adore this.
Oh my gosh if your 30 than how old was your mom bcuz I'm 35 and remember listening to little earthquakes as a teenager when it first came out!
I was six when Little Earthquakes first came out in '91, that would have made my Mum, 35, herself at the time.
Luna No way you were a teenager when LE came out. I was, but I'm nearly ten years your senior. You were 10 when it came out. Unless you reckon that number is pronounced as One-Teen, you were still several years away from being "in your yen years" when it was released.
o my yes this record is absolutely amazing..her daughter is her whole, through her mother, how much more beautiful can two souls be!!!the words send holy bumps throughout my soul!!!!best duet of all times..
so amazing! Great to see the love between Tori & her daughter :)
In this times, beautiful to see Mother and Daughter, sharing each other talents in music and any forms of love and expressions, expectations of such.
get shivers. longtime listener to Tori. this is so amazingly beautiful, so full of love
Awe hell, Ive been a fan for nearly 30
Tears streaming down my face!

The sweetest thing.
I feel my mom every time I hear this song, she's in heaven, thank you 😊
@@ccdm515 I agree
God bless you darling 🥰🌹🦋
I wish Tash would become a singer like her mom. She´s so gifted...
I'm not crying, you're crying.
Same
I love that movie.
I am crying. You are correct. Question is "How are you NOT?" 😂
I'm not someone's daughter, I don't have a daughter, and yet I still couldn't stop myself from tearing up when I first heard this song.
For me Tori Amos = feminity (I hope this sounds not too stupid, i hope you understand what i mean)
feminity is a subjective concept, she is your defintion of that word.
Yes, you are completely right
Am 50.Have seen Tori perform at Sheas in Buffalo New York. Her talent, stage actions and personality to me are above all others.Rare to hear a person sing and from the opening sentence be hooked. And for me it is longer then your 24 years of age.You have great taste
Samuel Christen me too! Since I was 14 I remember buying her a single silent all these years and on the B side ; upside down

I can't say this enough, this song is beautiful 😌🎶
Please give the song *Don't Stone Me* by ninanile a listen.
Her daughter seems to be on the same path, She has "the gift" as well.
this song has me in tears in 2021
Such a beautiful Mother Daughter Song 😍😍😍💖💖💖. Also wonderful for deep Friendships 💞💞💞. I Love it so much. 💞💜💞
Sweetest video ever. I'm so happy for you guys!
Wow !! Lovely mom & daughter. Love TORI live !! Saw her in Florida ❤️
Hello kandice, how are you doing and how is the weather with you
Tori and her daughter remenber me and my son... same friendship 🖤👑
Hello Lorena, how are you doing
This surely brings out a lot of joy, albeit bittersweet, especially after you happen to remember all those negative events that she had to stomach before she could finally experience this kind of love.
Gotta love how she writes about every part of life: happiness, desperation, the collective and the singular entity.
This gets me every time. I love Tori so much, she has been such an inspiration to me over the years and it's so sweet to see her and her daughter sing a song together. She is such an amazing woman!
I love this song. Another perfect mother/ daughter song.
@Barbara Miles Tori Amos Promise is one of my personal favorite song great mother and daughter duet
Lovely Duet.
💜 Brilliant 💜 Beautiful 💜
@Jillian Rigsby Tori Amos Promise is one of my favorite song
Hello Jillian, how are you doing and how is the weather with you
Precious the both of them. I loved hearing tori sing when I was a young one. Wow there are so beautiful.
This is one of my favourite songs 💗 it warms my heart so much. Discovering Tori Amos is what helped me find my sound as a musician. For that I am so thankful!
Almost too good to be True.
Almost too good to be True.
Is it similar to her sound or inspire your own unique sound?
So beautiful
Came here for the glorious, wonderful mood whiplash after listening to Playboy Mommy.
Go, Tori. Sing as many sentimental songs as you want with your lovely daughter and the hell with anyone who complains that it's too normal or sappy or omg why is her kid on the track.
Be glad that Tori is in a place where she can pour her heart out into a song like this, instead of a song like, say, Spark or Me And A Gun. I'll take a thousand Promises over one more like those.
yes. one thousand time yes. I love the dark songs... but this is so special especially in contrast to the dark times.
iamkunx - Well stated.
Different...younger and melds perfect...TORI WILL always be my Dream
