    Thanks for the great tips and rules on etiquette! As a new hunter, it helps to understand these dynamics especially since public land is my easiest option right now.

      While on principle I agree with you, in my state it would be considered abandoned property and technically up for grabs.

    Wise words, thanks for sharing.
    I have hunted Michigan public land for 44 years, and most of it has been drama free.

    Great stories! I'm a bit like you, mostly solo hunt. Grew up in a non hunting family. Always try to Avoid the crazies and always get my deer in the end!

    Great job Bobby. I've experienced similar situations in one manner or the other after 40 years of state/Public land hunting in our wonderful state of Michigan. In fact I almost walked thru on a Hunter this last Thursday afternoon. I was using a sliver of public land that borders private and a river. I only use it to get to the shallow part so I can cross in to the state land on the other side of the river.
    He was in a climber on the back of the private land. I hear a twig snap up in a tree, and hear the faintest "hey!"
    I dropped my head turned and whispered "sorry".but he said "dude hold up, I'm only going to be back here until the end of October, are you trying to get to the state land around the corner where this property and state and the river all meet? To which I replied yeah. Not mentioning that I actually cross the river where a 41/2 yr old 10 point lives in the thick nasty bryers halfway up a 200 ft hill that's land locked by private land that's owned by...you guessed it 70 yr old Hippies! I wish all encounters could be that way. Good luck out there this season.
    Oh and My dad lives near Midland too. Lol

    I encounter so many people that don't show or know hunters etiquette. It's no different then fisherman etiquette where you stand X amount of distance away from other fisher and never cast over lines. I always thought it was common sense but I guess I'm wrong??? Lol

      @bobbysbucks ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My question is how do you know a hunter is there? Isint kinda to late if the other hunter is hidden well?

    • @bobbysbucks
      @bobbysbucks 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for asking, if another hunter is there, they will signal you in most cases, with a whistle mimicking a bird. If you’re a little farther than hearing distance, they may waive in order to capture your attention, especially for safety during gun season.

    here if u have a stand on public. then the stand is private property .... does not matter if its on public land. the stand is not public property its private. kinda like a public parking lot . all because i parked there does not mean u can use my truck lol .

    I happen to be involved in a 2 man deer drive on public land. Me and a buddy where sitting in a valley with apple trees at the bottom. Up the valley we heard all kinds of calling and yelling coming down the valley..they walked right by us. We saw no deer but when we walked to the road we saw about 10 trucks and at least 8 other guys waiting for the walkers. We said no deer here and kept away from them that weekend. Lol

      Drives are pretty common late season where I hunt too. That's always unfortunate when I start to hear all the racket. Last season they released 40,000 pheasants so every small gamer in the world( at least it felt like that) showed up during November. It was the most hunters I'd ever seen in all the years I've been hunting. Hey, good luck this season!
