Its too strange the fact that Time really flies a lot, its been around 6 months since i graduated from Ethiopia, Jimma University Music School and Beethoven's Piano Sonata Op.2 no.1 First MVT'/Allegro was my final jury exam at that time i watched this video like a 100x and can't help but astonished by your way of playing and techniques and i said to my self woahh this dude is freaking cool😃...you know what i even watched the greatest D.Barenboim's version but still this one rocks. So i just want tell you that you're a wonderful and charismatic pianist.
Last but not least praise to God i successfully performed my jury and now i am officially a Music Teacher in there🙏

Honestly I think this is one of the few interpretations I've come across that's filled with simplicity and common sense that I find lost in all that pointless fluff that other contemporary pianists employ. How did you do it ? I struggle as well. Slowing the video here I see he's dropping the first note to only play 4 instead of 5, and starting with the fourth finger
Serious question: How does your technique get so good? Do you just repeat the same tiny section 100 times? Or do you practice scales? Or just practice 8hours a day? What is the secret? How do I as an amateur get closer to where you are?

These are excellent performances but why are the development sections not repeated on the 1st and 4th movement (I would have only repeated the 1st movement development section myself and not the 4th movement development section)?

Hi Andrei, this is a really great performance. I know you have no reason to answer this but I’m trying so hard to learn “Allegro” and I can’t figure out how to play those fast quadruplets (or a triplet and a crotchet) at the start of the piece. I can play almost the entire piece but I don’t know how to play those four notes in such a short time, I know you have a special technique for it. If you could share the way you move your hands to play it, I would appreciate it so much.

A solution is to play the L.H. sixteenth-triplets with the right hand instead. It’s what I did and it works pretty well

This is considered one of the easiest Beethoven sonatas right? My teacher suggested this but seems quite difficult for my level, though it might be easier than it looks

Why are the development sections not repeated in the first and fourth movement? I am thinking about learning this sonata and thought they needed to be repeated. Although personally I would only repeat the first movement development and not the fourth movement development
Garen Loshkajian It is a good point; Beethoven (Mozart and Haydn too) was absolutely clear about da capo (repeat) markings; they are directions, not optional suggestions.
There are far too many pianists today taking unwarranted liberties with these markings which are as important as directions regarding speed or mood or anything else; failing to play the repeats unbalances both a movement, and thus the work as a whole - it is an indefensible practice.

Andrei Andreev да Андрей здорово! я посмотрел твой интервью "моцарт и я" и узнал больше о тебе ;-) я сейчас тоже учусь в универе в Германии и я считаю что это тоже не как в консерватории, но можно многому важному и полезно му научиться! у меня с детство были пристовления что я немогу достичь хороший уровень в фортепиане, потому что не мог пользоваться паматью и очень долго учил наизусть... но в универе я столкнулся с книжками про как правильно ползоватся паматью и произошла перемена и новая надежда и мотивация! я очень счастлив об этом! будет нужда, очень рекомендую почитать, Андрюш! А так самое главное желаю тебе найти хорошую работу и крепкого здоровья! :-)

Just wondering How long will it take me to learn this sonate for an average piano player. by average i mean level 7.
It is not hard to learn the notes. Judging from the ABRSM pieces, I think level 7 might be under-prepared for the last movement. The difficulties, as I am practicing this, are as follows: the delicate control over dynamics and fluency in the second movement is hard to achieve; the speed at which the last movement "sounds good" (meaning in my ears XD) might be hard to achieve.
