Its a sad day for the t800 but you still had a badass KWhopper come to the rescue! You friend Coles truck is badass just like yours! Always great to have close friends that are there when you need them.
Dauminique enjoy your videos as one Tri axle dump truck driver to another I been there, where you brake down and all you can do is wait. Good luck with everything. God bless you and your family.
Never saw a failure like that. The drive shaft is supposed to fail before it shears off the pinion. Must have been a fatigue crack in the pinion shaft. I like my Mack differentials because they have double reduction in them. If you ever get into loose gravel or sand and your wheels start hopping, it is a good idea to get a tug from someone because if you keep trying, something is going to break.
@@needaccount9597 For off road service, I like the Mack power train. I have been in some pretty demanding situations and my old "R" and "DM" models always got the job done.
I've seen a few, sometimes its just built up fatique over time that creates little micro fractures in the shaft and then one day a couple hops of the wheels and bang it lets go. Seen slip spline shafts do the same too. Just get an exchange power divider, swap it out and back to work!
When the tires hop somethings gonna pop. Sorry it happened to you. I think we''ve all done it. Our macks used to just twist the axle shaft in half. we had spares in the shop. Easy fix right on site. Those old planetaries were heavy duty. Great attitude though, keep your head up.

Talking to your truck as it was towed away - loved it So sorry about your breakdown. Even in a situation like this you handled everything so well, you have an amazing attitude. Your rescue team and trucks were great. I'm sure you'll be back on the road by Wednesday.
Dauminique......You absolutely have the best attitude I think I have ever seen. That would have me very upset, which of course does no good. Good luck with the repairs.
It always happens that way. Things always break in the worst places. There’s Lots of stress on a dump truck driveline. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Things could be worse. You could be ugly!
Just watched a Pakistani guy do a video of taking a broken plnnion. And machining the.surfaces and welding it back together.I never blew a rear but with a truck trailer combo I always locked power divider on soft ground especially with air ride suspension. Never ran that heavy mostly 80,000 lbs.
Can't say that I've broken a shaft but have had u joint fail. Mine failed in the center of town with an excavator on the deck. It happens to all of us. Your friends help because at some point it will be your turn to help them. At least it's only the shaft and not the diff. Not a hard fix but definitely ruins your day.
I think this might be a first for a lot of us seeing this failure! In almost 20 years of wrenching and driving, I’ve seen busted u joints, power dividers and axle shafts, but this is a first seeing a pinion shaft shear off like that! I’d say if a new power divider is readily available with no issues, a couple days. Tim Gentry made a day project out of one!
Hi Dauminique. NOTHING to be ashamed about. My old vehicle rode a wrecker many times just like others. When you have an old vehicle, expect any kind of breakdown. Sometimes you run for years without any hiccups. But, we have a phrase--" U work and fix and you fix to work". The top of the broken pinion showed like there was a crack,as it is very dry. Replace the seal for sure and maybe the universal joint (cross ). Do I see cracks at the end of the drive shaft? (welding). Don't give up.
One heck of a u-joint, broke the yoke. Always fun!!!! If you can get the parts, should be back on the road Wednesday. You fixed the chains.....awesome!!!!

Part of trucking. A lot of load on all those parts, they will wear out and they will break. Use to make my living working on them for a short time. Good to have friends. Thanks for sharing.
I met a women that drove dump truck, we dated when I was home. i owned a beautiful cab over Pete, she wanted to learn to drive tractor trailer. I was leased to a carrier that moved machinery, after six months I went on heavy haul, this happened i the late 1960's and 70' and 80's. the safety director said I can teach, but she can't drive while I'm loaded. She didn't like the idea of empty only. most of my loads were to 10 to 14 wide, with all axles my gross weight up to 160,000 lbs.
