An oldie but a goodie, it's the Mid *cough* 3/4 *cough* Year Freakout Tag. I've got quite a lot of catch-up reading to do this Autumn, but I know this year's favourite books roundup is going to be 👌
I would freaking love to watch a video detailing the characters in the Grishaverse and all the correct pronunciation of the words in those books that would be amazing lol.
I finally read "Song of Achilles" this year. I was ready to fall in love with it and it surpassed my wildest dreams. Absolute favourite of the year and going on the all time favourites list.
For Gideon the ninth - try the audiobook! I totally get what you’re saying with accessibility of the writing, and the audiobook narrator does a really good job of setting the tone and differentiating character voices so it makes a bit more sense. I often listened to the audiobook while reading the physical book and that felt like the optimal way to read for me personally.
The Six of Crows audiobooks were hilarious to me, exactly because of the 'Dutch' pronunciations. The first line has the name Joost in it and I was not ready for the way the narrator pronounced it!
Please, oh please, make video about Sea of Tranquility x Glass Hotel x Station Eleven. I absolutely adored the structure of SoT and seeing familiar characters once again was a real treat!
Yes!!! My favorite booktuber! Sanne, I love your work and you helped me get back into reading again. I’m becoming an English teacher, and I plan to incorporate more contemporary classics into my curriculum (The Hate U Give, Station Eleven, etc.). Thanks so much!
I thoroughly enjoyed Lapvona and it was my first Moshfegh book. Excited to hear what you think about it! I went from reading about 2 books a year, to 42 this year so far so my concept of favourite book of the year is quite strange… So far I have really enjoyed, Lapvona, Salt Lick, The Stranger, Convenience Store Woman, The Buddha in the Attic and The Story of my Teeth. :)
I’ve been commuting for my job, which means a lot of reading on the train, and I absolutely tore through The Anthropocene Reviewed ! I knew pretty much nothing about it going in and it was honestly so good, a lot more emotional than expected too
I've had 15 five star reads so far and I'm struggling to pick between them! But last month I read The Final Strife and All The Light We Cannot See which were both absolutely fab
ah at you reading six of crows and pride and prejudice! so much joy! i want to read the other 2 books after station eleven as well, sound so interesting! did you watch the station eleven show? feelings! i recently finished jade legacy by fonda lee and it's definitely one of my favorites of the year bc it just feels beautiful to see how the trilogy wrapped up.
Please read the wall by marlen haushofer from your penguin vintage earth series! It is such a beautiful story! Very compelling and sort of distopian, nature, animals, feminism. Woman in nature living her daily survival life in the austrian mountains.
I also LOVED Six of crows, but not so much the audiobook. Not just the Dutch names (although that too, I remember them pronouncing Jan like in Janice? 🤣🤣) but also the pronunciation between the narrators wasnt consistent?? For the invented words in particular. That really bothered me. Amazing book, pretty bad audiobook.

I’d only be able to do the Dutch ones though! 😅

So excited that you’re loving Leigh Bardugo! I still need to read King of Scars…
Ahhh I'm so, so happy you're getting into the Grishaverse! My number 1 this year so far has been Circe!

Maybe if I can get it from the library haha! But that’s a good tip. :D

LOVEEEEEEEE Sea of Tranquility! I only found this author because of your review of Station Eleven. :)
Very happy to hear that! Have you checked out any of her other books yet?

Ugh Lapvona was so good!! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
I think I’m gonna bring it on holiday (though it seems like a weird choice haha). Beach read!

Interestingly, I always think of you when I think of Nina.
Zoooo dol op je video’s nog steeds! Ik ga deze vragen ook meenemen in m’n stories!
And I'm also struggling with Gideon the Ninth. I feel like half the time I don't understand what's going on haha.
I had the same issue with Gideon the Ninth! Really like the concept but it just didn't click with me.

I'm so looking forward to listening to Infamous!
Thanks so much Sanne so kind 🙌🏻⭐️💘
My number one book of the year is Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao. It's so damn good.

Ahh thanks for the recommendation!

Omg yes the inconsistencies between characters totally took me out of it!
The other books in the series are read by one narrator, so it’s a different vibe and I really like them.
I'm going to start reading Babel next week and I already know it's going to break my heart
『p』『r』『o』『m』『o』『s』『m』 🙄
