    Song :
( "Zhang Di Namtso Karmo") is a popular Bhutia song sung on all important occasions. this song was composed by the late Yangthang Rinpoche who I understand was very highly educated and learned Lama. I have no way of confirming the statement but a translation of the song will support the statement that the work is that of a learned person.
The writer imagines that Lhasa which falls on the north of Sikkim was a creamy lake initially and with the canopy coverage provided by rainbow and sun's rays, the reclamation process for construction of a palace began and on this reclaimed land a monastery was constructed a throne of gold and silver made with carpets of furs of tiger and leopard laid on it. "Tsenden Lama" who sits on this throne is presumably the Dalai Lama because other than him, no other Lama had occupied the throne in Potala before. For an audience with "Tsenden Lama" an offer of white scarf [khada) is made and with blessing given by him in the form of a talisman, the person returns to his country and meets his parents and finds them in sound health and in the process the wish of the person in fulfilled. There is a similar song which is yet to come in print form. The song is about a yakherd. The female yak is called "Dima" in Bhutia language. A brief summary of the song is like this: The milk collected out of a Dima -female yak is stored in can, the milk churned and butter separated and skin packed and loaded to be carried to Lhasa for making butter lamp for offer in Jhokhang in Lhasa after which the person returns to his country, finds his parents in sound health and thereafter he goes for merry making with songs and dances.
