Thanks for showing this. I also had this set of Turbo utilities and its modifications, where it was combined with support for a BT-100 or Robotron K6304 printer. You should push the “Stop” button on the XC12 when loading is completed, otherwise it will leave a deformation on the tape and it will cause load errors.
I had a Rambit fitted in a 1010 back in the day. Wasn't an easy job to convert most games - I had to learn 6502 as an 11 Year old, and how to hack copy protected games (like Bruce Lee - rolling xor encryption with self modifying code), luckily I had an interest in programming. Got pretty good at it too. I think the best hack was for mercenary, it had different length data records as part of it's protection. The most satisfying game to convert was Red Max, that took around 20 minutes to load normally, and around 3 minutes once converted.
I did the Turbo mod with a kit bought from an Atari magazine. The loading speed jut blew me away and like you say I never understood why Atari never adopted this upgrade. I think it would have made a lot of difference to their sales.
Hi Nir, thanks for making these videos, they are great. Plase take that Draconus diskette away from that speaker, the magnet will corrupt the data on the disk! Take care, Louis BQ
The file is actually not compressed, you can even hear the zeroes just before the end of loading. There wouldn't be any if compression was used. Also, decompression would take some time after the file was loaded.
Hello. I have 150 atari xl games on cassete in turbo 2000.Is there way to put them on floppy drive or i have to upgrade my xc12 tape.I have atari 130 xe and regular xc12 tape
Nice! I have a generic tape question, how do I get .cas files on tape? I have a SD2SIO but it has no pass through port for the tape drive. And I guess the SD2SIO wouldn't help much anyway because .cas files are an image format, not like a .xex file
that's because the Ultimate cart does not emulate 100% the turbo loader cart (it does not disconnect RD5 line after the data loads), so i have to do it manually in order to get the loader started

Back in the '80 this would saved me a couple of guilders :) It was like press 'start' and 'option' and I went to the supermarket to buy some candy :)
correct!!!

Haha, exactly. Sounds suspiciously close to a Speccy tape. I could tell from the sound, if it where an image, or code, or block graphics.
Where download these files XEX, car, Rom for Ultimate Cart? Thanks

Where can find the file for turbo 2000
You can find them here: atari.turiecfoto.sk/soft/
Hi there, have you got XEX from Universal TURBO Loader - (C) JRC 1991 ? I would like to test it out. Seems to be great loader.
Yes i do.. how can i send it to you?
I noticed that at about [2:53] after you load the loader, you tilt the 'ultimate cart'. What was that all about?
JW3HH

How reliable is the Atari 1010 drive comparing to the xc12 ? Thanks for the upload.
the same I would say
Great video. How did you setup your XE to a monitor?
This Monitor has an RCA input, and i connected it to the Atari Monitor port using an DIN5 to RCA cable
