I love this pattern. I've stayed away from cable crochet owing to mucking things up, but you made it so simple. I'm working on a shawl size at the moment in fisherman yarn. It looks fantastic. Thank you for your clear cut tutorials. Been following you for years. Your the best. Thanks for breaking my cable fears.
LOL. I am only doing knitting projects now, not crocheting but I live your voice and thought your hands were so pretty I just kept watching until I realized I was never going to make this scarf🧣 ! Thanks for the video!
hi clare i have been crocheting for 43 years and i have been trying to do this cable stitch for a long time and i could not get it but now i followed you and i got it thank you so much for your time and your patience doing these lessons you ex plain everything in detail with out sounding boring ty ty ty your the best keep giving us lessons no one is to old to learn a new or even old stitch
Hello Donna, thank you so much for your wonderful comment. I think in crochet and life in general we can always learn new things. The cable stitch was always one of those ones I could never get the hand of and then it just clicked ! It"s an amazing feeling isn't it !?
I want to thank you . you are the best teacher. I am left handed and wanted to make this cable stich . I watched many videos and just didn't get it. well I got it now thanks to you.
I have done one of your projects and I truly like the way you take your time when showing how to do the hat, scarf, and blanket you really take your time and show every step. I try to find any thing that you are creating. thank you for your tutorial.
Thank you Clare! You are such a great teacher. I have been hesitant to try cables, but you have given such great instruction. I love all your tutorials. Miss you! Hope you are doing well. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
been trying to find a video for cables that is easy and this is it. Really easy to follow along. Nothing elaborate just a simple pattern. Fancy will come later once I have this down. Thanks so much for sharing
Whoa FIVE STRANDS!? I've worked with 3 in a four-ply and that was challenging, but five!? Whoa. I can't even begin to wrap my mind around it, I can't wait to try it XD
bobwilson123 I'll probably try a blanket in this pattern once I get a larger hook, as my biggest is only 9 millimeters and could only just handle 3. Thanks for the pattern and tutorial!
As always, your projects are practical and beautiful. This project seems difficult, but as you say after several repetitions becomes easier. I'll try to make a sample before making a scarf or blanket. Thanks for sharing your projects.
Great idea +Juana Cuevas, the sample are great for learning the pattern and also getting tension, I find if I am doing a new pattern that my tension goes a bit wonky till I get I get familiar with the pattern
Absolutely love this pattern, wish I would've remembered watching this when I made a scarf last week. This gives me another excuse to go buy more yarn. I've got a large collection of hooks, and just 2 huge containers full of yarn. It's nice to have a lot of yarn on hand for projects. I'm just getting started with my yarn collection. ☺💜🖒👏👏👏
Hi Claire Sorry I missed your birthday. I hope it was as awesome as you.! Thank you for all your videos , written patterns and clear instructions Be well.. be safe and God Bless! huggs Love, Connie
Hey there Clare, Love this pattern! I have had this one skein of yarn for the longest time & never knew what to make from it. NOW I know. I printed out the pattern and I am working along with you. I did notice on Row 3 steps in the written pattern you have - Ch2, bpdc around next 2 stitches, "dc into the next 8 stitches"- according to the video here and what makes sense by working along the stitches so far it should be only "4" stitches not "8" . Just thought I would mention that to you. Once again, thanks for all the great video tutorials you put out for us crocheters around the world!!!
Thank you to your talent too much Bobwilson,123, because from you are teaching to me it is very hard and step by step to know how to make that cable stitch, I am very grateful to you. Will see you at next talent .. YenVo
Love the rainbow yarns at Wooltopia!!! Instantly followed them on Instagram and Facebook:) Amazing tutorial, I've been crocheting for 2 years but never attempted any type of cable stitch, but this video has really inspired me, can't wait to try this out! PS - Here, here to the yarn unravel fairy!! Xxx
+Eliza Stancombe I first attempted to cable after 13 years of crochet haha, the thought of them scared me and little did I know they would be so easy !
Thank you for the tutorial! I used this to make a one skein cowl in Lion Brand Wool-ease in the seafoam color. Turned out great. I am going to work on a coordinating hat next.
Hi haven’t been around much these days just working on other stuff I guess. If you wanted to use this pattern to make a poncho say a simple one that you make with 2 panels and sew the 2 at top leave neck open and maybe sew sides leaving armholes sew to about my hip area then stop I would be using a bit thinner yarn for good drape but stitch definition what do you think? I’m currently working on one right now that is just the single braided cables. Your blanket and scarf are lovely 💕💕
If you want to make a blanket, and you use 5 x 14 stitches, is it still + 6 at the end of your cable? Or do you have to use more because you took 5 sets of 14 stitches?
+Joke Berghman Yes it is still just an extra 6 at the end no matter what your amounts of 14 stitches. So it can be 5 x 14 stitches or 20 x 14 stitches, its still only add 6 :)
Hello Teresa, sorry for the slow reply, had a influx of comments so I am playing catch up Yes that is what you do, 14+6, let me know how the narrower scarf turns out, I would love to know. Thank you for watching
i know you can double 8ply but i do know that some lincrafts shops carry worsted as well as bendigo wool. I usually get mine shipped to me. let me get back to you but i know that most of the local yarn shops carry some but not a lot
Hello Joan. Usually there are 2 reasons for a blanket not to lay flat First it has too many stitches and it ruffles Second is there is no enough and curls up like a bowl shape. What pattern are you making and what shape is the blanket?
if you are making this cable pattern, it could also be that the cables or the stitching are too tight which is causing the fabric to pull. if you lay the blanket on a flat surface like a floor or a mattress and are not able to smooth it out with your hand then it could be too tight. you should be able to flatten it on a flat surface with your hand. you can also wet block it in order to flatten and smooth it out once it is the size you like.
I love this pattern. I've stayed away from cable crochet owing to mucking things up, but you made it so simple. I'm working on a shawl size at the moment in fisherman yarn. It looks fantastic. knitting is very relaxing. I have been knitting as well for the past couple years but still crochet all the time. thank you for watching

yes it is especially since im irish and could not make anything with cables
using your finger to feel the stitches (posts) really does help. don't give up! it really is fun once you get the swing of it 🙏
I'm not even feeling well, but you've got me following along. Thank you for making a very, understanding video. No longer confused on how to do this.
I want to thank you . you are the best teacher. I am left handed and wanted to make this cable stich . I watched many videos and just didn't get it. well I got it now thanks to you.

+11thShadowDragon Its is a little challenging and slower than just the 1, but it works up sooo fast because of the size of the stitches :)

Hi! Thank you for this video! Your instructions make this easy for me...thanks. How many skeins did you use?

Thankyou Claire!💖💖
Thank you so much and thank you for watching !

soooooooooooooooooooo pretty I can't wait thanks
If you want to make a blanket, and you use 5 x 14 stitches, is it still + 6 at the end of your cable? Or do you have to use more because you took 5 sets of 14 stitches?

+bobwilson123 ok. thank you for the answer :-)
Thank You Claire .

Hello, I used the whole ball and it was a 200 gram, not sure on the meterage though
Thanks!!! I also made my triangle shawl using Unforgettable using the same colorway. I softened it with your tutorial too. ;)

If I wanted to make a scarf that was narrower, how many foundation would I do..14 + 6? In the beginning I think you said you did 28 + 6..
Hello Teresa, sorry for the slow reply, had a influx of comments so I am playing catch up
Yes that is what you do, 14+6, let me know how the narrower scarf turns out, I would love to know. Thank you for watching

Thank you so much for your great feedback !
Where can you get worsted/10 ply yarn in Australia? :)
i know you can double 8ply but i do know that some lincrafts shops carry worsted as well as bendigo wool. I usually get mine shipped to me. let me get back to you but i know that most of the local yarn shops carry some but not a lot
Is this a reversible cable scarf?
On the other side it is flat with the indents from the cable stitch.
bless you😊
Hi, Went to Wooltopia and it doesn have a way to get on to their site unless you have password, is there a way to get an account set up with them?
this is their etsy shop, their new website should be up soon
