I'm finding all sorts of odd things that aren't labeled at junk and I'm paranoid I will need them at some point; tape measures, whetstones, protractors, dryer lint... My debris hoarding is going crazy. And I'm not finding many skill books but instead smutty romance novels and phone books.
Some things are going to be craftables now I think and others will be vital for late game crafting so once you're settled, leave nothing behind! Whetstone is actually a solid find, assuming that'll be used to sharpen blades and they dull very quickly! Books have changed a lot I've noticed that too. They have changed how they look so gotta pay attention
I actually found a weapons book, forge short swords, forge swords and a bunch of others. Gotta dive into it soon as yea, I gathered all that odd-ball stuff too. Hint, in muldraugh there is a new metal working shop just above the southern bar loaded with propane, etc. I went in hoping to find a sledge, nope. I've hit the tool sheds, the middle self storage, none so far.
Aye I appreciate it man! I hope you can jump on it soon it’s so good you really are missing out! I saw!! I’m friends with him on steam and almost messaged him like “does this mean new content” and then saw the episode pop up, definitely gotta watch it!
The soreness tied to weapon type makes the most sense. If you hold it wrong and are not used to it you'll injure yourself, only with gaining experience with it you figure out how to best use it. Just because you're fit doesn't mean you're an automatic sword master nor construction worker swinging a sledge with full effect.
I do get that but I feel like it should have some correlation, I never knew how to swing a sledge hammer until I did and learned pretty quickly without getting strained. That then meant I could chop wood with an axe better because it's the same form if you know what I mean? Same goes for a hammer and a hatchet, the only ones that I could see being different are knives and long blades
@@Vulrhund You weren't fighting for your life either. ;) I do think there is a correlation to fitness, however it is tied more to the weapon skill. For what the game is, it does make the most sense to do it this way. Honestly, I'm now at level 4 short blunt still and level 3 fitness as I took the -2 negative perk and I actually ended up increasing muscle soreness to 1.25 after yesterdays patch and it's still pretty much a non issue. You just git gud son. :D
Im also exploring brandenburg myself, without saying much, you should definitely follow the back roads to their ends and be ready to do some mapping yourself as the map legend isnt updated for Brandenburg yet, showing everything as residential. Also still infinitely jealous of your bass key ring. All ive found so far was a rabbits foot keyring.
Ahhh got you I’ll definitely do that, slow and steady trip up the back! That’s real good to know about the map though, saves the “that must be residential” learning curve :D I wish we could swap I’d take that rabbits foot in a heart beat! The bass is funky though, great first day find!
Oh mate I just noticed watching your videos that zombie capacity is now 12 instead of 8. :D I also had something pretty cool happen, I was swinging a metal pipe and it broke but it kept going as a new weapon "broken metal pipe". Got two rounds out of it. It reset to full durability but lower damage.
Oh no way really? Wouldn't have noticed if you didn't point it out! I love the breaking down weapons, I've had it happen to a few spears and long weapons, end up with just a stick you have to fend yourself off with it's such a good touch!
@@Vulrhund Yea, I think it was the metal pipe, one of those types anyway. I think it's best to just play and figure it out. When it first broke I thought ok, next weapon but he was still holding one, I then looked and saw he was using the broken version. Huh, cool, I thought and just kept going. :)
I turned down muscle strain to 0.3 Its VERY good. Now I can fight 50 zombies and then get it. not just 5 hahaha... It really helps. Maybe next playtrough take a good look trough the settings and change some things. Its hard right now. I also turned zombies to the ''old'' way. A lot of zombies you have are random. Random sight, random toughness and strength and random speed. also idk if you have noticed 8:30 keys now have weight and a keyring can now only hold so many keys. Its a pretty big change. Keys are sort of heavy (if you have a lot) and I stopped grabbing random keys. also very important, I saw you take shoes, and it had a hole in it. make sure to watch your shoes. I feel like thy break/get damaged a lot quicker. I was in my third week and my shoes randomly broke. Not fun when your shoes break and you start to limp out no where because your feet get cut XD...
that sounds so much better what a good shout! They have added a quick patch that should fix it for the most part and tone it down a good bit which is good! I did think about adjusting the strength at the least because the tough ones are just wild! I did notice! I think it was this episode I pointed it out actually, multiple key rings will be a must for certain things and actually labelling keys will be important now! Oh no way can shoes actually get holes in now? What's that about?! I love that it's a thing but my god is that going to be a killer I'm so excited for the rough random scratches
Level 3 cooking? That's it for you for tv shows and vhs then for cooking skill. By default after level 3 gives no xp. For the car keys, just leave them in the ignition or glove box. Don't worry, you will find elbow pads too.
That feels like it's changed, I swear once upon a time I managed to get to like level carpentry up to 7 with shows and books, I may be wrong but I feel like that's a thing! Yeah car keys in the car are the way for sure
@@Vulrhund Yea, it's an option you can change upon game creation. I think next run I'll extend it to level 8 as I find the grind is full on between 3-8 are the hardest levels to get, 1-2 and 9-10 are very very easy. Good thing is that you can craft rain collectors at carpentry 3 and 5 now. The level 3 basic ones give 400 water storage, just like the old level 7 carpentry ones did. Water has become easier, the transfer of liquids however has become a huge pain.
I had no idea it was even a setting but I would’ve if I spotted it. This was my absolute first run without seeing anything on the game so I had no idea what I was signing myself up for
I've watched you for most of my Build 42 exposure - thanks! I wish it was easier to switch from 41 to 42 and back - I have a noob PZ server running on 41.
The main reason you had problems with muscle strain and exhaustion this episode was you were running encumbered for almost the whole time I noticed, the extra weight and melee combat together increase the speed of the strain and fatigue build up quite a bit I've found. According to the tooltips the muscle strain is tied to both weapon skill and strength which kind of makes sense, I tried a few different starter builds including one with the extra strength trait which seemed to make a difference. It's just much more difficult to level up strength so we don't see benefits from that as much as we notice the positives from leveling one one weapon type then seeing the negative side when using a different weapon.
I’ve been so used to playing build 41 that all of this is just natural, I’m adjusting my pack rat ways very quickly because it just doesn’t work here it’s so good but definitely needs some learning! Yeah I definitely need to start experimenting with those things and see what really works, I think weapon levels are the biggest impact so far. Just gotta get grinding!
@Vulrhund 100% with you on the packrat mate, doesn't matter how good a bag I have, how big the vehicle, I'm always full to bursting somehow and I feel like I'm still leaving so much stuff behind I need or could use later, it's a hard habit to get out of especially with all the new items to hoard now!! 🤣
Oh, also I don't know / remember what perks you took, I feel now that cats eyes is a skip. It seems to now do nothing. Basements and backrooms are full dark even with an open door. You'd think it would give you some advantage, nope. That used to always be a must have, I don't think so anymore. Anyone else notice that?
@@Vulrhund Yep, I now carry a flashlight, never ever ever ever ever, did I say ever? need one in b41. Even backs of stores in store rooms are pitch. The cats eyes! They do nothing! Also thankfully I found you can just press F to turn the flashlights on-off, just like car headlights. Probably the same as b41, dunno, never used flashlights before, did I mention that already? :)
The learning curve for build 42 is harsh. A lot of things you could get away with in the previous build. But now you have to be conscientious of everything. Gone are the days of carrying a heavy load. There’s strain on your body now. Which means you’re going to have to have even better inventory management. And Lastly the muscle strain. You’re telling me I’m completely exhausted from smashing 4 zombies with a club??? Definitely needs some tweaking. But overall I like it so far.
It really is, literally making me relearn everything I’ve spent the last few years learning and it’s a struggle! I’m so glad the nomad run came before this, given me plenty of time to try and train it thankfully! The muscle strain is my biggest struggle and one they’ve actually released a patch for, my thoughts were if I can be up and down a ladder hitting nails all day without too much strain, this guy can take at least 20 swings without strain setting in
They’re still there just incredibly rare and nowhere near as powerful sadly, I maxed them out last run and it was just unreal, this time around I’m struggling!
@@Vulrhundthere are lots of changes and surprises from Build 41, some good some not good. They already did an update so I think the bedroom lamps are fixed.
@ I did mention it to you. When I first played, the light only illuminated the lamp and nightstand. I couldn’t even see the bed! The room was pitch black. I don’t like the new spear making menu. You can only use a certain knife to make a spear? What nonsense! I can go to my garden shed right now and use any sharp item to make a spear out of a heavy tree branch. I think water from a well is no longer safe to drink. I filled up a bottle from a well and it had the skull symbol. It said I needed to purify in the microwave.
