This is young Mariah from the early 90s. This performance was 1991 her voice was much stronger around this time. She had some of her most powerful performances around this time.

Hi! It really amazes me that many young ppl don't know this Mariah. I've known her all my life , I was 13 when this song came out. When she first came out I was 12, and many ppl immediately fell for her. She was huge and she started like a bomb. Even at the beginning she was huge, that's why she always got compared to Whitney. Her voice was awesome. For me this is the real Mariah .

"Back when Mariah didn't blend Hip Hop into her music". Some of Mariah's best work..songwriting, vocally, and creatively, was on display in the late 90s and the 2000s.

I have always been a fan of Mariah's voice and her songs in her early years.
Let me guess...the blending of Hip Hop in her music is why you made this idiotic comment that weirdly pointed out the early part of her career. Maybe broaden your taste in music and see the art she continued to make and continues to make. Some of her best writing and vocal delivery came in the late 90s and in the 2000s. We were able to see the Mariah that her abusive ex husband Tommy was trying to erase. Her influence in RnB and Hip Hop is unmatched.

If you want to see a monster female R&B type vocalist, check out Lisa Fischer. Her voice is pretty much peerless. She has all the soul but her technique and range make Mariah sound like the local bar singer.

Mariah is in a league of her own and Mariah's technique has been said to be one of the best in mainstream music. Her musical intelligence, styling, and ear put her in her own category. Singers are good at various things but Mariah is elite at it all. No one can make Mariah sound like a local bar artist...that is why she is the most successful woman in music. From the highs of the highs and the lows of the lows..Mariah is the greatest female vocalist ever. You tried it though.

Actually this was her second CD 1991's, *Emotions* ... She does hit a high note in the studio version of the song, but didn't sing it here. Not her best performance though, or songs... A few better tracks from this CD are:
