In 1993, Lt Gennady Sergeyev died hit by a Sniper while carrying wounded people to safety around the premises of the White House of Moscow.
Alfa group members thought about bursting inside the building to enact revenge, but were quickly stopped by Col Yuri Torshin who reminded them. The Snipers were unknown, no one knew their alleagence and even if they were on the contitutionalists side.
The background photo is from the moment when Alfa walked to the front door of the White House to negotiate. When they peacefully resolved the situation and stopped a Civil War.
After hard work, Gennady Zaitsev convinced Yeltsin to award Sergeyev the title Hero of Russia.
@MioNihonggo Both books from Colonel Filatov speaks of him. "Lyudi A" and "Baptized in Heavens". I believe "Alfa is my Destiny" from Zaitsev himself also discloses about it as well.
But there are articles in russian in sites like Spetsnaz Rossi. Google Chrome offers the option to translate entire sites, it is very useful. Although I am not familiar with these internet articles for I remained only with the books for now.
Seems to me the events in October 1993 is very under documented, seems like a very interesting piece of Russian history.

@@spr1t3ly the 1990s for russia were very Tubulent and very ignored almost because most of us westerners see it as "what a weird guy, he died" but in the USSR at that time, the idea of capitalism and democracy. the freedom of speech and all that. made the people of russia LITERALLY explode.. russia EXPLODED with a whole slew of screams and confusion
@@torifin755 im not from the west, im from a country that is and still is allies with the Soviets/Russia, while the fall was widely documented (1991) black October was rarely mentioned by media in my place as far as records show.
Listening this at the end of summer tho.

@@varennik_varu У него флаг Эстонии, как и все прибалты они фашики и хейтеры нас(не просто страны), были и будут. Даже то что там много наших жило или живет, все равно. Общался с одним мужиком на рыбалке от туда, жил там всю жизнь. Так он сказал что во времена СССР еще все было более менее нормально, а вот потом как на пост встали не те люди... Почти во всех странах восточной европы людям поколениями говорили что мы ПЛОХИЕ. Так это все далее и происходит. Я самолично спрашивал чехов и они все плохо относятся к русским (не правительству). Я с прашивал, почему? В ответ получал -Не знаем, так всегда было.
