4B3 and BP 26 will be vintage one day.!!! I’m in love with that combo! Ground loops happen when plugging into different ccts. Get an electrician to run new ccts for your audio system. Important to make sure they are no longer than 35 feet from electrical panel and always make sure when running more than one cct the cable lengths are exactly the same. And while you are at it run some # 10 and keep that resistance low. Cheers
@@1JGP1 "Only" a 20 Watt Class A amplifier? 20 Watt in class A is ample power for most (unless your speakers are planar magnetics that you like playing at high volumes). I wish my 20 Watt class A had not broken. Still, I get that comparing a 20 Watt class A to a more than a 100 Watt class AB is not comparing like with like so probably not fair for either one. It might be interesting to testify what you are missing if you go one way or the other though. Many people buying an amp for the first time might be facing that dilemma, i.e. class A or class AB and these Bryston and Accuphase models are prime examples of each camp.
I just purchased a Bryston 4B SST Pro that was just serviced and updated last year by the Bryston factory. Should be getting it Tuesday. I think it will play well with my Audio Research SP14 pre and Rega RS5`s speakers.

Yes, the ground noise I got was only present with the Bryston...Thank god for the switch because without it I would have gone mad! The basement was rewired when finished, it could very well have to do with that.
I once discovered i had a hum on on channel. I found it to be the speaker cable running along the mains power lead. If i moved the cables apart, the hum vanished. Now i swear by using shielded power leads. The amp sitting on my rack is the Bryston 14B3
I have a small recording studio here in Newfoundland, and my uncle gave me bunch of older analog equipment, some cool things in there! in amongst it was a Bryston 4bNRB, i was not familiar with this name before. but I hooked it up and shes putting out, but isn't getting any audio in the right side input. i tested the xlr, and it seems in working order. would this be an electronic problem? and if so, do they even still make parts for this thing? thank you for any input! is this thing hard to get rid of? cheers!, love your videos
@@1JGP1 Hi. on that not I have been looking at some Mcintosh gear but cant get my head around forking over upwards of 10k for some comparable power. Here is my situation. I have a first generation 4b (which I love) and some Hypex Ncore500 mono blocks. I have Sonos ports running whole home audio through this amps (in various speaker combinations). I have some extremely efficient KLF 30s which have been banished to my garage and am now looking towards getting my new less efficient house main speakers to be able to perform at or near the same level of my KLFs. This will probably require double the power as they are rated at 93db compared to 105db. I have an opportunity to pick up another 4B (same year) but have heard questionable reviews regarding bridging? As an alternative I could also pick up a pair of older 7bs from CAM. with either of these choices I could add a Mcintosh tube preamp to the front end and be done. Long winded sorry. Thoughts?
@@1JGP1 How does the Yamaha sound if compared against some of the newer Bryston offerings? I am shopping around for an amp to drive Totem Hawks that I recently bought used.
@@michaela.5363 I have not really tried any Bryston's brand new gear. I've always enjoyed their products including their older integrated the b60. I have though listened to a lot of different amplifiers over the years, the one thing the Yamaha does very well is it is extremely tight and focused. The bottom end has an abundance of control, my guess would be that it would probably be a good match for the totems. I know it's difficult with the pandemic and all, but you really should get in to listen to a couple to compare.

I've not heard an ST yet, but the general consensus is that the ST is more refined, a big improvment in all the Bryston's; wheither 3b or 4b...

Today I'm actually using a new Yamaha A-S1200. For vintage I have a fully restored Marantz 2230... And, well - perhaps a few more hidden (lol).
