And now Guido Basso joins them…. Guido a great player from Canada had it all.
Classic! RIP Guido.
Guido told me in the fall of 2022, they were to have a rematch with CBC in Canada but it never happened. Rest in Peace Guido.
Thank you for the information about the passing of Guido Basso yesterday, D Gear, may he rest in peace.
Best video ever! No joke!
Guido Basso died this month. The man was a titan on the horn and a wonderful human being who will be missed. RIP
They were 2 of my heros growing up, along with Maynard, Doc, Don, and Herb. If only we had hdtv and quality home speaker systems back then, eh?
RIP Guido Basso Feb 13th 2023

This is quite possibly the funniest trumpet skit I've ever seen! Guido certainly could play! I'd love to see them do a duet...

Al Hirt really was a guest on "The Johnny Cash Show"
Louis Armstrong was a guest on 'The Johnny Cash Show', as well.
The challenger trumpet player I believe is Guido Basso.

Is it any wonder why trumpets play in only two octaves? 4:22 😲 ♫ 🎺
I know yours is an older comment, but I've only been playing 30+ years and was able to get 4 octaves by the 9th grade!!!
pretty amazing playing but such a goofy setting hah i wonder how rehearsed this whole thing was...
All of it!
Playing jazz in a smoky western saloon?
Hooray For Santa Clause Al Hirt
Whats the song at 3:10?
Young Man with a Horn?
@@dondennis6363 lol "Harry James played that alot better!"
Cauliflower lips!!
smacking that mouthpiece in made me cringe so hard omfg..
Same
That guy wasnt even playing
huh? ofcourse he was
Hi, Ev. Actually, he WAS playing. It's Guido Basso. He's 80 years old now, still playing, and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
@@pattiloach I believe both musicians would have pre recorded their performances for the show...but certainly its them playing
they are miming for the video you can tell because the audible quality does not vary no matter where they are in relation to the "Mic" lol
@@Dorodigital Not a chance it was pre recorded. You can't re-finger improvisations like that
!
Al Hirt, the greatist trumpet player who ever lived. What a lousy showcase!!!
I like Al Hirt, but boy was that a dumb skit.
Well, no kidding.
Go watch Jimmy Kimmel.
This was funny????
