    With the introduction today of the new A7 CII & 7 CR, this review becomes relevant for photographers looking for gear size reduction! Thanks DB.

    I have the Loxia 28mm f/2.8. It is a sharp lens with great construction quality. I like that the Loxia 85mm f/2.8. It looks fantastic and I like that it is relatively small. It must be excellent for portraits. As you mention the inbody stabilization of latest Sony α series cameras is very beneficial with such lenses. I am looking forward to buy a new Zeiss Loxia lens.

    Dustin great review again, I love how in-depth you go with the lenses. I read the review on your website as well and you were writing about the resolution and color rendition about this lens. My question is, does the same color rendition and resolution shared on all the loxia line up

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same color rendition, though the contrast is higher with this lens.

    Great job with this review series, as always. I appreciate that your reviews are both concise and thorough. Do you plan to do the Voigtländer 110 F2.5 anytime soon?

      I do plan to cover it, but probably not soon. I'm already scheduled through May as it is. I've got so many demands on my time.

    For a small telephoto lens I use the Nikon E series 100mm f/2.8 adapted to Sony body is smaller than this loxia and also 52mm filter size

    Hmmmm. Can't decide between Zeiss 85mm Loxia or Voigtlander 110mm. Know focal lengths are different. Zeiss 50mm Loxia is great. Know on lens can't be all things to all. Kinda think the Zeiss is the overall just better. Sharpness, colors and 3d pop. Any ideas?? I use Sony.

      Do you need the macro component? I haven't yet tested the Voigtlander 110, but the 65 is excellent (I own it).

    I kind of feel that this particular review is not needed, because if it's good, it should be, if it's bad, then ... that's not possible. I mean, most fast 85s are good, and every company can make a nice 85 when it's as slow as 2.4.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That may well be, but most of us like a review to verify whether or not that is true. BTW, not all 85mm lenses are created equal. There's a lot of variation.

    In the bokeh “edginess” do u ever soften in post?

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very rarely...and definitely not with this lens. It's not that bad.

      Ok
      Curious
      I find now that im printing my shooting has changed and post is actually more important than prior to printing images

    Great lens for sharpness and colors, but very over corrected ,it reduces its sonnar character as seen in the true sonnar produced a couple decades ago.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess that comes down to your priority. I though the lens produced pretty stunning results.

    if u gonna get one of these, just get a cine lens
    idk why u would bother with something like this for video work

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Perhaps, but a lot of people like to do both, and these lenses are really small. That being said, it's possible that Zeiss agrees with you, as they seem to be solely focused on cine lenses at this point
