Shame he didn't get bigger unfortunately I think that was because he was kind of mental he thought Sam Phillips of sun was purposely keeping him from his stardom when he was at at record company he often claimed he arranged Blue Moon of Kentucky and that's alright for Elvis so yeah as far as the rockabilly Legend goes I do think Charlie feathers is the greatest
Yes, it is a real shame they didn't archive him more also talented voice and pick guitars , this men could make " Hall of Fame easily" I love this men and love listening to him sing even speak! 🎉❤
I always loved Charlie. He just didn't care too much what other people thought. For instance, in this wonderful clip he didn't choose to wear his teeth and he didn't! :)
What a lad, no one sings quite as well as Mr Feathers. RIP Charlie feathers. He’s up in heaven rn getting with it. Every time I’m on gta with the boys (lester) we vibe to get with it. #yougottagetwithit
He sounds great...just like the old timers of my Mom and Dads people....Grandma and Grandpa on both sides....You cant get that sound anywhere hardly these days. Something in the voice.
I did a video of Charlies son Charlie "Bubba" Feathers" about twenty years ago at Handy Park on Beale Street. I recently uploaded it to TH-cam. In one of them he performed some of his fathers songs.
When I go home. I play blue moon of Kentucky. For my mom. On my gituar along with other old songs and Gospels. She cry's sometimes and says think you I always hung her.
Congratulations you have just come out with the most RIDICULOUS comment I have ever read on you tube.Elvis is the KING period. All the rest are just pretenders.
I believe it's from a 17-part documentary series, All You Need is Love, by Tony Palmer. I remember seeing it when it first came out. A few episodes are available, including Hail Hail Rock 'n' Roll which has awesome footage of Jerry Lee. Hopefully the Charlie episode can be tracked down.
No he did not say that, what he said was that some of the early guitar was taken from black blues singers but also white blue grass music and it was mixed with country hillbilly music, most of the Rockabilly/Rock N Roll sound had nothing to do with so called black music it was mostly a mixture of country and swing music from the 40s.Bill Haley was the first to make a Rockabilly song back in 49 by mixing these two music styles and he should be given all the credit for this music and styles.
Elvis was the best without any doubt, that is why all the others tried hard to copy his voice and style, this interview must have been pre 80s because he had pure white hair in 1980 and in this interview he had dark hair, but he was good and a lot of late 70s early 80s British revival bands definitely were trying hard to copy his voice and music, Crazy Cavan being the most successful one of that time.
At the guitar and writing for sure! Elvis was just amazing on stage, can’t get better than him when it comes to stage presence and pleasing the crowds.
@@corbenpeach813 My whole fams from Georgia and I have a lot of relatives that talk just like that. Its just kinda jarring lmao. especially cause I grew up in the Bay Area
Actually there is something wrong with it and he knows it which is why he corrects himself. Anyway you can be a good singer and also an idiot racist, they aren't mutually exclusive.
@4th Chairman It's easy to say words mean nothing when you or your ancestors weren't oppressed and threatened. It's only when you learn empathy and history that you understand the weight of some words and that being a good person means not harming others when you can avoid it.
You should take down this video before someone finds it. Have some respect for Charlie, and his living family members. Also, have some respect for black people. Racist, hurtful, bullshit.
Nuclear Winter lets not forget demeaning things that black people say about white folk such as pussy. Also violent unprovoked attacks on whites that's never regarded as racism.
Charlie is the true original king of rockabilly and the best of 'em all

Love Charlie, discovered him in the 80s. his voice still sounded great here. it is a shame how little archive there is of these original guys.

Thanks for that! I 'vidded' this from a BBC2 documentary weekend (a Blues Weekend) in mid '80's. I never knew the source.

He looks like the actor who played wolf creek.
Admitting he took the guitar style from black folks is cool but that hard R in the beginning was crazy 😂😂😂

@4th Chairman I like Charlie Feathers but saying it was a different time is just defending ignorance.
