But how do I avaoid wrist pain when guitar drumming? I think I'm starting to get an injury from that wrist kick... I'm really into modern fingerstyle guitar and it will be a huge loss for me not to use it...
@@auroranamex5886 hey it's been bout 5 years since i'm playing guitar percussions, and tbh, I haven't experienced such issues. maybe, the method of your kick is wrong. Try hitting the wrist a lol bit slowly and lowkey, so that you'll get a "decent" sound and it'll prevent injuries too! Hope it helps. Have a good day/night ahead! :)
I've watched a number of videos on percussion on acoustic guitar. This is by far the best I've seen, both in technique, as well as explaining it. Thanks.
@@Focus_20SF Hahahaha! Know the feeling. Keep practising! I'm trying to migrate from playing Metallica/Megadeth to playing more of this kind of thing. PS - try using electric guitar strings on your acoustic.
I started doing this type of stuff on my own because I wanted to drum but it was too loud so I got a guitar as a kid and I ended up amazed with this style playing.
Finally something „easy“ to play with and get creative without anoying people! Great base to get a feeling for rhythem and strumming percussive.. AT THE SAME TIME!!!! I added some bar chordes and with muteing, playing only the downstrumm (muted), Great Beat, and then back to your pattons for the chorus..!! Changed my Game completely!!! Thanks!!!
Thanks for ruining my week. I've dabbled with my percussi-curious side, but had been happy to shelve it under 'I have enough mediocre techniques to improve already, thanks!' Then your video shows up in my suggestions list and two days later I've got a sore thumb, aching arm, and the dog's hiding in the kitchen away from the din I keep making. The guitar playing's not too bad, but the constant swearing when I get it wrong AGAIN is probably what's troubling her. On the bright side, when I stop trying to learn these patterns, playing 'normally' seems much easier. I may never be the guitar world's Keith Moon (unless I throw my guitar in a swimming pool) but by stretching myself I might just improve what I was doing already... or need wrist surgery. ;-)
Hey Andrew, if you're walking around with an aching wrist and a sore thumb because of this lesson, then I'm very pleased. I too put off the percussive stuff for years, I was just never really all that excited by it. But I've found in recent years that a simple bass/snare can really do wonders to whatever you're playing. Thanks a lot for you comment.
This percussion strumming sounds SOOO COOOL .... !!!! It just BLOW UP MY MIND ... 🤯 Tomorrow from early morning...I will try this...😊👍🏻 THANKS for this great cool strumming lesson. WE WANT MORE such cool & amazing percussion strumming tutorial videos. 😊👍🏻
Chris, thank you for sharing your drum skills on this guiar lesson. These bring 4 styles add a whole new texture to acoustic performce! And you broke this technique down to the most basic components so that a non-drummer like me can follow it and use it. Man, I'm excited to take on this learning challenge and use it in my street performances. I know that my songs with this percussive style will be far more engaging for the listener. I'll follow up when I've successfully taken ownership - I'm a slow learner but once I have it, I own it. Cheers! : )

this stuff is one of the strongest reasons why I wanted to learn guitar forever. finally I bought one and so happy I found this only one week later. really hard for a beginner to coordinate hand percussion part and the strumming, but it's what I've been dreaming of forever.... nothing can stop me now lucky by boyfriend is a professional guitar player (who just is learning piano, my instrument 😂) but thanks so much for this. cause he is sleeping right now and I cannot fall asleep .... just thinking about playing guitar .... so in love
Thank you man! It took me a few days to actually get this down. Thanks man! I'm new to playing the guitar but really I'm already having fun playing with a bass and a little percussive sound as well. Thank you :)
Thanks man. I've been trying to add percussion to my playing for quite some time now, and haven't been able to quite get the timing down right. It realy clicked when you said which beats to play snare and bass.
Normal percussive is easy but the hard thing is when you want to use fingers to play rapid drum like the song “Unravel “ play fingers on the wood of guitar .( sorry for bad grammar)
I lack a bit of coordination... as if both hands don't belong to the same body haha 🙃... 2:11: this one is really nice! I need to practice...🎶 Thanks for sharing, Chris!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! It’s so much easier to fallow these sort of things having them dissected n all along with having presets to use as practice I’ve been trying to just watch people live to see what they’re doin but their hands are swinging so fast it’s hard to get anything out of it lol
Hey guys, I've just made a sequel lesson for this with four more beats - check it out ➡️ bit.ly/3gQ49nm
