For years, he knew not to set foot on the kitchen counters. But someone left a roast chicken carcass on the counter unattended once, and he sniffed it out. He’s been riding that high ever since, counter surfing in hopes of another feast.

With the shoe polish guys, just ask: "Is it free?" They'll say "Yes, sir", get the shoe polished, say "Thanks" and then walk away. They'll shout and call you names but they won't actually do anything because if police gets involved, they're the ones going to jail, and they know it. Got my shoes polished every day I was in Turkey that way.
EDIT: Just keep in mind, those are mostly, actually not professional shoe shiners. I once had a guy trying to polish my suede shoes using water with detergent. So, be wary of their technique and give them pointers if needed. They'll appreciate it ;)
Yup I was thinking the same thing. Seemed like it was in northern Europe, where people will do anything to avoid an awkward situation or confrontation. I'll take my free shoe polish any day, thanks.
Yea just make sure to record. This happened in Bermuda where I live, a tourist was seen polishing school kids shoes using this tactic so a couple people including myself joined in on the fun making him bugger off.
@@thefoxmoonlight You don't actually have to record. The police know those scammers by first and last name, and will always back the tourist driving their economy, rather than a lowlife scammer. So even if the scammer says they'll call the police, just call them on their bluff, or better yet, call the police yourself. They'll arrest the scammer every time, and that's why the scammers don't like to get into protracted arguments. Again, if you can't stomach arguing with them, or if you just want to go about your day, just walk away and they'll leave you alone after shouting a few insults.

The scammers will scare you with police but if you call their bluff they'll walk away calling you names because they know they're the ones who will get arrested.

He asked for a smoke, which I didn't have and to this day I remain a proud non-smoker. But he had a prepared answer for that too, he said something like- Oh, nice, you definitely shouldn't smoke, let me give you a free shoe shine for being a good boy like that. I definitely knew that it would not have been a free one, nothing in this world is, so I just told him that I had no money. Had to repeat it a couple of times for him to realize that I am telling the truth after which he stopped smiling and waved his hand dismissively and the other drunkards laughed at him for failing with that dumb tactic.
@@abodin7338 Scammers sometimes have accomplices nearby that they will signal and you will find yourself surrounded by some men. They will pressure you and it will be an intimidating situation. Maybe the shoe shiners are so low on the scale that they don't have them, but the more advanced scammers work in teams with distractors, strongmen etc.

I had a bluejay about two years ago and he was very vocal. He did make sounds like that as well as of course the well known squawking and little chirps. The most interesting however was he learned to say my name in a very southern accent and would use it to call from my room. They are such smart birds
He also made a “missile” sound, which sounds like the whistling a middle with make as it falls. One of my favorite things he did was the little feet taps when excited :)

Our golden retriever does this. Sometimes he just turns up with a tail hanging out of his mouth, or he'll pick up a rat or mouse that the cats have caught. It's a gentle way to peacefully suffocate some poor suffering vermin.

Fun fact that’s what happens to everyone when they get dizzy. In the semicircular canals of the ear, where your body knows where your head is while it’s moving, there’s a substance in there.
