Hey Pat, i'm a boilermaker by trade , mainly doing structural steel, here on projects in Australia, engineers and bean counters these days go straight towards china for supplying Chineseium grade structural steel, for all our large projects these days without giving too much concern to local Australian made structural steel companies that keep locals employed. When this steel arrives on trucks or containers on jobsites around the country. Many of us unloading this garbage stare in disbelief of the shit of the junk theyve ordered. Its extremely poor quality, the coatings are peeling off , holes in wrong places , pieces missing , items bent or heavily distorted from poor welding procedures and basically crap welding along with surface rust. Ive had many conversations with engineers about this, their reply is always this, it doesnt matter about the quality, its always cheaper to get it from China, including all the logistics landed on site as well as all the repairs and modifications and repainting , than it is to make it here . Its not about quality, or doing it right the first time, or creating jobs, its about money . As a local tradesperson, its bad enough to fix your own mistakes, let alone fixing multiple container loads of poor quality shit that was not made on australian soil and our own politicians , bosses, gov regulators allow this to happen. Just gut wrenching. We sell our premium grade iron ore to China for cheap and it gets delivered back as junk. F the CCP and our useless pollies@honestpat7789
Ironically we’re all watching this after the sema videos. Liked the work on the taillights but. The average punter (me) would have just forced them on 👌
Aways good to see the progress on the van, definitely the time spent on gaps and pre-fitting is like money in the bank. I guess the secret is knowing when to stop? Bill Mc
Nice work again Howard, the van is looking real nice now mate, gaps make all the difference 😅 Sadly I’m back on my XY again soon, only done 437 miles moved her the other day, blew a brand new plastic fuel filter, and had a instant under bonnet fire quite a bit of damage 😢
I can really relate Howard I spent years crawling around an xc van and body lines and door gaps were essential to me, it turned out nice but it was very time consuming being such a big vehicle, I must say how much i enjoy your show on the van it's very informative and thorough and i always look forward to new uploads it's going to be a standout van best wishes mate
Howard, i'd be sceared to drive that on the road, Given the riff raff that now use the road, who are on their phones and the like. Might be best to just trailer it to events? Great level of detail and quality of used, hats off to you and your team.
DP616 EpoxyTHANE is a two component adhesion promoting epoxy urethane primer designed to be used over bare metal surfaces under polyester spray or hand applied body fillers and Deltron primers, to protect against corrosion. It also has excellent adhesion to steel, aluminum and galvanized steel. It should be used whenever optimum corrosion protection is required
Good thing that it's only a work hack drive car! Howard might get a little fussy 😂
Do it once and do it right. I don’t think they teach that logic anymore 😂

Hard not to
Your attention to details and working the panels and metal work makes your videos well worth watching thumb👍
Thanks mate appreciated
Ironically we’re all watching this after the sema videos.
Liked the work on the taillights but. The average punter (me) would have just forced them on 👌
Cheers mate, back home now to start again
WOW! I'm always learning from you Howard, I never knew you could do that with cast aluminium, I thought it would break for sure.
You learn something new every day!
This is why Iv'e always loved your cars. Because you take the time to do it right first go. Plus you don't create bog panels.
Thanks mate, appreciate the support
Great work Mate, love your channel.

Not quite SEMA level but very good indeed.

I dreamt that HOWARD BUILT ME A Torana! Dreams can come true I hope…….
Dream on
Hey Howard, on the left rear guard where ya tail light housings go, is there a small ding at the top , saw that while ya dollying that tail gate edge
Like I said in the video, the left side hasn’t been filled yet. Panel joins have been plated but no filler
What type of timber is that you are using as a straight edge? I enjoy watching the progress of this van.
Its Tasmaian oak 35 x 4 mm
First ❤
Yes you were. 👍
Howard is the epoxy a metal etch as well ?

@@AstillDesign The reason why I asked Howard was the exposed bare metal I noticed. I normally use a red/brown etch on bare surfaces prior to primer. 👌
Have a look at the Camaro series we did. The first 3 or 4 episodes cover the full PPG process
Fussy Bugger.
Yep thats me
