what i love about this is that newjeans don’t do the whole blaccent and “swag” style that many K-pop artists seem to do now when they want to appeal to western audiences. They can pull off music just as is, while keeping themselves and their own style. And it’s so comfortable for audiences to watch, as well as open up respectful collabs like this. Can’t wait to see more

The remix makes it seem fuller and moves some attention from the simplistic lyrics, making it less jarring and blending it into the song seamlessly. It was clearly the intention of the lyricist/s to mimic the rhythm, similar to onomatopoeia, with the chorus lyrics (see: rhyming the same word, 'cola;), so this works out.
