I play Arsenal, 10th season. There's money, so this tip doesn't sit with everybody. My squad is almost 100 strong, 25 1st team, 35 for U18 plus U21. The rest, which is to say the players with the biggest gaps between current and potential ability are loaned out. That as a preamble, I have my assistant assign mentoring groups for the first team. He does three-strong groups. For the youth teams, I go ahead and buy players tha have model citizen, model professional or professional, with less regard in how good they are. If they are 16, they're gonna have 5 years of good influence on your youth players.
I feel some things to consider with mentoring, you want and older, good personality and good traits person with high leadership and determination. Then pair it with someone with similar position (so that traits being passed make sense) lower determination, low important matches attributes and allow for 3-6 months for results to come in. The older the person getting the mentoring the less effective it is, so it's mostly aimed for youth how I see it. and yeah there are some personalities that are just plain bad and no amount of mentoring is going to fix, like slack Another tip is to move troublesome players and those unhappy if you can to B team, given it kind of shield the rest of team from they being upset.
Great Video! I have a question regarding social groups. I have a 31 year old player who is the vice leader of the team and is in my 'others' social group. How do I fit him in the Core social group? I don't think he will take anything from being mentored.
Great video man, I got a lot of questions answered! I have one tho that wasn't covered in this video. What about the mentoring groups in the youth teams? B team and u19?? How do you do those?
You only have access to control mentoring groups if you are fully in charge of them. If your club has a youth or Reserve/B team manager, they'll likely be in charge of those groups by default.👍
@@LoadFM I am fully in chrge of their training so I can create mentoring groups. If I move a player from those teams to the senior squad through the unit section , he doesnt show up in the mentoring groups tho. Is this a bug? He will appear only if I ask my Assistant to assign the groups
Hi, what is the maximum age that a young talent could be influenced by mentoring? I tried to mentor sancho but the game estimated that he will not be influenced. I have already used Messi as the group leader😢
Hi, If you have 3 perfect mentors... why not let them mentoring the whole team? If you are a mentor in "the real world" you should be able to know which "students" benefit the most from your knowledge. Is there a game mechanic which downplay effets if tutoring "to many"? /Sune
I don't know for sure but I guess it works off the studies done into education. The same standard of education will always be more successful when taught in smaller groups. I'd imagine in game, everyone will benefit a little just by being in the same squad/dressing room. However, the mentoring group is intended more for close working with certain individuals only. 👍
@@LoadFM Hi, did some testing: Tutor Olivier Giraud mentoring 21 "students" who gets significant influece - sames goes with Hugo Llorris and Erling Haaland. With one mentor maybe the chance for students teaching each other bad/not useful stuff increases? This chanse I beleive will be very small if you have all three mentoring (putting their values together against students?) I will play and get back with result...I´ll agree that small groups (same position) are better when player wants to get player traits. But when you want to change personalitie stats maybe my thinking is good?
I've seen a few videos where people say a player can only pick up a trait from another player if they play in the same position or similar or they're in the same training unit. So you can in theory have a CB mentoring a striker but the striker cannot pick up any traits from the CB. Do you know if this is true?
I've tried to create mentoring groups for my u18's. I have taken control of all teams, senior, b and 18s. I have added the youth players to the training units of the senior squad The youth players have a professional contract. Still, i cannot create a mentoring group in the senior squad with the u18s. If they are promoted to the senior squad, placed in the match day squad or senior training units then it should be possible. You may have to wait for one continue before the option is available though. 👍
@@LoadFM at least in FM23, if you want to place a youth player into the Senior training groups, the only way to get these same youth players into a mentoring group, is by "ask Assistant to Assign". Because even when you move a youth player into the Senior training group (Offense, Defense, Goalies) they do not show up in the player selection option when you are assigning players to a mentoring group. So only way to get them into a mentoring group is by "ask assistant" option. But by doing this (asking the assistant) it cancels all your current mentoring groups, creates new mentoring groups which you have no control over who is in that group. And you cannot move your youth player out of that assigned group to put him in a different group as this will make him disappear from the player selection options. As far as I remember this has been broken (putting youth players into senior mentoring groups) since they switched to "Mentoring". The only permanent work around for this, is to actually move the youth player to the senior team
This video is great. Something I really appreciated is the neutral way of explaining everything, rather than the "what I do" constantly.
The social group thing starts with welcoming each player through one of your established players. Never seen that mentioned.
Thank you so much!!!! Great video
Thanks for watching! 👍

I'm pretty sure it's up to 24 for significant influence now. From 25 onwards, you won't see major changes. 👍
also, your mentoree needs to play little to none matches in the senior team. The more they play the less influence they get under.

Hugo Lloris is a fantastic mentor - Model citizen.
Cant you just let your assistent assign your groups?
Of course you can, you can get your assistant to do anything in game. They won't make sensible choices to get the best out of your players though.

They generally only pick up relevant traits in my experience but I don't know if it's hard coded that it can't happen. 👍

Enciso not Ensico :) Otherwise a good video
I can't be getting pronunciations right, it's what I'm famous for! 😂
