  • We have acquired this lovely Moulton APB bicycle and will be restoring it over the coming months. In this video Paul goes through our latest ideas and strips the bike down! We would love to hear your thoughts too! Please comment any ideas :-)

    Paul, as you may know, LOVES his Brompton and this Moulton will likely be for Sarah as a collapsible / folding bike.

    There are cable guides for both side because these bikes were available with a front derailleur. A front derailleur is convenient when you have 20 inch wheels and can't use a long cage rear derailleur. A 1x system is more fashionable today, but a 2x system is much more useful.

      Ah - thinking about it the cable guide on the left isn’t in the line for a front derailleur. And instead is positioned for the extra cable on the rear hub. If you think otherwise let us know ..

    This is going to be good! Very excited to see how it turns out; I think a modern, 1x drivetrain is a great idea for this bike. I'd love a Moulton myself so will be watching with interest. Good luck!

      Yes it won’t be quick progress at the moment - probably taking for the respray beginning of Sept but hoping for a great end result. Thanks, as always, for watching 👍

    I'm never happy to see plumbing spanners used on bikes. Just as well you gave it to Argos, they are really good

      @@jeremynorth hi thanks for watching. These are high end ratcheting spanner’s that were bought by my grandparents at the start of my bike mechanic career . They’ve been with me over 16 years and are my most commonly used tool especially when working on vintage bikes. They are a must have for any workshop. 👍

    Hello, I just bought an apb. Did you succeed to brake appart the fork ? It is very troublesome for me... Can't wait to see the final result.

      @veloworks9266  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching. We’ve been able to take the fork off so the bike is in 4 sections and we are handing it over to Argos Racing cycles for the next part which will be in the next week or so 👍

    Are you putting cantilever brakes back on, or V brakes? I swapped my cantilevers for Vees last week, and they're far superior for both adjustments and braking.

    • @veloworks9266
      @veloworks9266  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi; thanks for watching. At the moment we are planning on cantilever brakes. These suit this bike a bit better and means we can get a wider tyre in if needed 👍

    Enjoying the videos (wanted to start with the positive 😄), but you do need to normalise your audio levels (both within the video and relative to other content on TH-cam 😅).

    • @veloworks9266
      @veloworks9266  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick, thanks for both comments! I don’t know what normalise means - we do struggle with the audio but thought a better microphone would help? Any tips gratefully received (but must be in layman’s terms as otherwise it’ll go straight over my head 😂). Sarah

    Joiner or coupler

    • @johnpot7323

      Hey Paul, I just received some couplers from Moulton, the label says 'Cable Connector Assembly"

    • @johnpot7323
      @johnpot7323 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also colour coded now so can't connect wrong cables together. Originally all black O rings on 'connectors' on all models APB, and TSR, can't speak for AM's and other top models.
