I find it is amazing that Purple is 30 years old. Herija is one of my favorite Joni albums. Most likely two after Blue. I may look online for her demo album.
Splendid RSD video Bob. I had a fine one here in Oslo, Bill Evans one of 3 I brought home, hey, he was in Norway, I'm in Norway, Kongsberg, only 53 miles from here 😄 I also made him my video Thumbnail because the record store here pushed the album front centre. My biggest want was for the first time a soundtrack which I don't think you guys got over there (UK RSD release). What a beautiful dog ❤ Started snow mixed raining here moment I left the record store. Cool album cover that Max Roach 🤩 And gorgeous cool Joni Mitchell cover 😲 What a beautiful bottle(s). Enjoy your finds and Sunday, cheers from Morten
Very underwhelming list this RSD !! Nothing to get me excited enough to get up in the middle of the night and stand in freezing cold for!! Kind of more of the usual stuff that comes in every RSD
Just goes to show everyone’s tastes are different, for me this was one of my favorites lists since the one with Piper At The Gates of Dawn mono a few years back. But I’ve seen a lot of people that feel how you do, could just be that I’ve not been collecting as long as others. I do regret sitting out in the cold though. Probably won’t again. lol
Bob, your record store day videos are now a tradition man!!! That Bourbon sounds like one hell of a catch and seemed to have made your record store day well worth it. Hey Bob what speakers are those tall ones that you have on the outside or is that all one unit. Also what wooden cartridge is on that, Thorens? Keep it coming Bob your videos are killer man!
The cart is a grado reference platinum. The speakers are B&C, the open baffle speakers next to them are Woodring acoustics. Good times for sure! Cheers
Huge Joni fan here. And Hejira is my fav, so yeah - I was so excited about the demos release and it did not disappoint - I kept getting good bumps as I listened. Thanks for the Joni shoutout!
I was in town to see Slayer a few months ago (unfortunately they didn’t play), but I ended up at Better Days records. I really didn’t need anything, but the owner was really cool, and was hell bent on making sure he found something I liked. I left with a record 😂
I did want to ask you about the Sun Ra you got. Apparently there are two that came out the same day- Live at the left bank that you showed and another Live in Chicago, some exact photo of Sun Ra on the cover! You or any of your friends know in the VC which is better?
While I really wanted to go, now only 2 shops do RSD in my area and there was not more than 1 box or 2 boxes to look at. I settled with 1 B&N LP for $5 Bend Harper/Charlie Musselwhite. It was pretty good. You mentioned Jaco Pastorius. Just got one of his LPs in a dollar bin and learned his tragic story. Now I really want to clean my copy and give second listen.
Glad you had a good RSD Black Friday Bob! I see you brought your sidekick with you ;-) Thank you for detailing us the STP, it was mildly the one I was tempted with... Now I know what to expect... Personally, I skipped it... not much happening in Reno anyway. But I went on a shopping spree online the day before on some small record store and small indie labels... At the end, the wallet did complain a bit. Now, waiting to receive the (early) Christmas packages. Can't wait to see the Old Forrester President's Choice review... (now you have to do it hehe) Heading to France middle of next week, any record you might be looking for from there? I'd be happy to track it down. Let me know. Cheers and Happy Belated Thanksgiving
Nice pick ups man! Did you listen to the Jazz Dispensary yet? Mine is horribly noisy, with a section with really loud pops like a deep scratch is there but it hasn't skipped! Yours? As of yet i do not have a record cleaner!
@@21bkking dang, mine was flawless.. that’s a bummer. Definitely try to clean it a bit that, might quiet it down.. but the scratch that’s an unfortunate.
@@BOBBRADLEYCHANNEL Really weird to since I didn't see an actual scratch but it sounded like it for a small section. The music is stellar though! Really funky. Place i bought it said I could trade it in for another when they get more in about a week.
The only thing I really wanted was the Sunn O Black One reissue, which I found the next day at the store. No standing in line or dealing with crowds needed!
Hi, nice you found what you were looking for. I went to my regular record shop here in Paris, at noon (!!), it was not crowded and they had many releases… I have to say that I am disappointed by max Roach record’s sound quality. Quite poor, probably due to recording condition…. J from Paris
Hey Bob have you heard any of the rumblings of the high quality Strata East reissue series supposedly coming? I'm holding off buying reissues (other than the Stooges Rhino High Fi) these days because I want to save up for that series but haven't heard anything in a while

Bob, I might be the only one that feels this way but it seems like the record labels are just releasing anything they can find on a artist for the all mighty dollar. I'm starting to see a lot of things come out and the bootlegs have been out there for years and now all of a sudden they just find these tracks just sitting around 🤔. The Miles Davis - Live In Paris box set that just came out the sound quality is no better then the bootlegs I had of these shows, so what's the point. I'm all for unreleased material but if it sounds bad what good is it.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 all bourbon is not created equal! That said it is a bit of an aquired taste … black licorice, cilantro, makers mark.. 😋
Was that a bunch of homeless people on the streets or people waiting in line for RSD? Too cold, I just don’t want to stand in line anymore.
